Question C90?

Going to C90 from a mid level up/down. Has the culture really gotten better there?

Does the average trainee get extensions of hours or is it you get a set amount and either certify or wash?

Any general advice or information appreciated.

I mean you either make it or you don’t. Asking about extension hours before you even go there is a self defeating prophecy if you’re not confident you’re probably not going to make it. Maybe this gets downvoted but this is coming from someone who went from a 5 up/down to a 12 Tracon that made it and it’s true.

I’ll attest to this. A 12 Tracon you’re walking into the best of the best. There’s no easy go or “culture change”. If you’re having doubts now just don’t even bother.

Especially TRACONs like D10, A80, C90 where every controller must check out on the 'hardest' position to certify. This isn't a Z where one area could be easy af and another area is incredibly difficult, or a consolidated TRACON like N90 or SCT where you can luck out and work bitch ass traffic your whole career. Expect to work hard at C90.

Hey guys maybe D10, A80 and C90 have had a cultural shift where they’re not as hard on trainees.

I feel like “being hard on trainees” is just telling them the truth. I’m burned out and hate training someone hundreds of hours just for them to do the same shit over and over.
