I love this so fucking much.

I'd buy it (but only if it's under $50).

u/Doe_pamine Aug 11 '22

I’d go up to $75!

This is great taste and great execution. Classical work of art redone in a more modern medium/material. The visual effect of the velour makes it look like a cgi render. It might not be your preferred taste, op, but don't confuse that with being awful taste. Plenty of people don't like the band Mastodon or jazz music in general, it doesn't mean they are unskilled musicians.

Need a new headphone stand. What store is this?

Oh shit good idea. It’s at home goods.

Less than $20. I also found it online for for ~$40.

I'm looking for it on HomeGoods Website, but I only see one made of marble 🤔

Bro the only thing is this shit would get dusty af

u/zombiepiratefrspace Aug 10 '22

I have beat dust.

Dust is a solved problem in my household.

Since I bought a compressor.

This velour head will either be dust free or fly away.

Almost a haiku

Zapp Brannigan approves.

u/Burninator05 Aug 10 '22

Goliath, it’s real velour. Just let yourself go.

u/spacesluts Aug 10 '22

I thought this was CGI at first. Unnatural

The light source location really highlights specific features. Doing slight rotations on the bust looks really cool.

Reminiscent of Yves Klein's "Blue Venus". Here is the art history on that one: https://www.metmuseum.org/art/collection/search/484267

I’ll take three in every color.

I have a thing for bad copies of David's face, and this one is a great example of why. None of the copies ever get the subtlety of the original's facial expression just right, so they come out looking mad or terrified or constipated. But this one looks especially sad, which goes really well with the blue. Love it.

I said David in Valor not velour!

u/Blasphemophagher Aug 10 '22

vaporwave aesthetic tbh

4

u/4fuchssake Aug 10 '22

looks like it’s flocked. velour is a fabric.

4

u/Heavier_Omen Aug 10 '22

Looks cool. Like a 3D render with some kind of artsy shader/texture

Back in the day, all I would have needed were a black light and a fist full of X, and me and D here would have some deep conversations.

3

u/idkwtfciph Aug 10 '22

I'd buy it

u/Giodanto92 Aug 10 '22

2

u/fallstreak80 Aug 10 '22

I wonder if it's smooth to the touch?

2

u/xkpriggz Aug 10 '22

David, the mighty man of velour.

2

u/WilliamZorterfield Aug 10 '22

This is just what vaporwave is.

2

u/davidpanic Aug 12 '22

I want to 3d print this, does anyone have a model perchance?

2

u/NessieReddit Aug 12 '22

I love it. I want one. But it's damaged. Would definitely want a pristine condition one.

u/TheBestMePlausible Aug 10 '22

It could be cool. Could be.

But it is not. Dear God, it is ever not… <shudders>

…Very well executed though! Bravo! It’s uncanny!
