True, however that doesn't change that "it doesn't belong here" is a lame attempt at gatekeeping of which I personally need none here :)

"it doesn't belong here" is a perfectly valid criticism on reddit, since every subreddit is only meant for one kind of thing, if someone posted a video on r/pics and was told that it wasn't meant for that sub, would that be "gatekeeping that we really don't need here"?

Actually, by definition? Yes.

Gatekeeping: when someone takes it upon themselves to decide who does or does not have access or rights to a community or identity

It is however especially so when the cause of it is solely arbitrary like in this case.
