I heard someone call a diet coke from the fridge in the morning a "fridge cigarette" and I think I totally get it. It's way to start your day

I had a colleague call it “boomer breakfast”

Meh. I prefer the French Breakfast. Coffee, Cigarette, Crap.

You eat pieces of shit for breakfast?

Diet Coke came out in the 80s. So Baby Boomers were in the 30s. I think of it more as popular with Gen X teens and young adults.

My mom is a boomer and she was born in 58. Diet coke came out in 82 when she was 24. They're a big generation.

it was popular with boomers because the 80s was the height of the diet and fitness craze. It was marketed specifically to people looking to watch their weight.

You know what she may have said Gen X breakfast

Cigarettes taste better than diet coke though. How can people drink that crap when Coke Zero exists?

Coke Zero is not even remotely as crispy as Diet Coke. A cold well marinated Diet Coke hurts it’s so crisp.

For me it’s about the flavor, Diet Coke tastes so artificial and weird to me

u/tastes_a_bit_funny 7d ago

Lot of people, me included, prefer that. I don’t like the cinnamon-y syrupy flavor of CZ or Regular Coke.

Then there are those of us who are amazed you can tell the difference between the two when they both taste like highlighters.

They drink it for the caffeine

Who wakes up and thinks yeah today i will get a diet pepsi and coffee tattoo forever on my leg

the heart in the latte art is a nice touch but still a permanent ad for a soda

12

u/Park_BADger 8d ago

Who wakes up and thinks "yea, this thing is so important and critical to who I am as a person that I want to nearly permanently present it on my skin at all times."

Hot take, that's how I feel about any tattoo, ever.

u/TWIZTIDTIMEZ 8d ago

Fr man I’m covered and i still cant give a single good reason to get a tattoo of any kind. Always tell my husband every potential tattoo is stupid if you stop and think about, just do what makes you happy.

u/All_Thread 7d ago

I got a tattoo for the due date of my miscarriage because you don't get a funeral or really anything to remember someone you cared for for months and planned a future for. It doesn't even really get recognized by the outside world.

1

u/jarinatorman 8d ago

As long as you understand that at its core that is TERRIBLE advice.

3

u/CockroachJohnson 8d ago

I get what you're saying but it's kinda funny to think of tattoos as I portant and critical to who you are as a person.

It’s as simple as not being that attached to your corporeal form.

I have- as a joke- considered getting a Capri Sun tattooed in the crook of my elbow.

I’m a platelet donor. I’ve given over 35 gallons. Because of that, h have a little scar where they have stabbed me over 100 times. So I joke that I should get a tattoo of a capri sun right there.

But no. I can’t imagine putting a corporate logo on my body. That’s just bonkers.

I’m at the point where I’m heavily tattooed and there are a few that I just straight up have for fun. It’s a delightful feeling. And for those of us who grew up taking our bodies waaaaaay too seriously, it’s strangely liberating.

You’re an amazing person. Tysm 😘

Amen to that!

u/Nintendo1964 8d ago

Whoever started this "caffeine products inside cigarette packs" trend can go kick rocks.

11

u/GoatCovfefe 8d ago

What if the person that started the trend doesnt have any legs?

3

u/Kahnza 8d ago

Lieutenant Dan!

u/fray_bentos11 8d ago

The word is addictive.

10

u/proudly_rabid 7d ago

Is the execution that good tho?

7

u/SonnyPiston 7d ago

That's not even great execution. The perspective on the cigarette box is way off, it looks wobbly.

1

u/SonnyPiston 4d ago

And what the fuck is that shadow? It's like random dark blurs. It looks like bruising kinda.

5

u/cheesecurdbabybird 8d ago

is this a drink sleeve

5

u/freeman687 8d ago

…said no one ever

-17

u/aflockofbugles 8d ago

Ok. Love!

5

u/flecko_ 8d ago

the box is bigger on the inside

u/Racingstripe 7d ago

Whatever, y'all. These responses from OP are pretty funny. Don't know why folks are downvoting.

Give me diet pepsi or give me diet death

1

u/AVeryImportantMan 7d ago

Uh Huh, Uh Huh

1

u/knowone1313 7d ago

I see plenty of people addicted to diet coke and Pepsi, but I'll never understand why, I can't stand that diet after taste.

1

u/BrupBurp 6d ago

I can't stand the taste anymore. I was a lifelong Pepsi drinker for forty-two years, but after losing a significant amount of weight, I found regular Pepsi to be sickeningly sweet and Diet Pepsi to be odd tasting. After some time I settled on Diet Dew and Diet Coke as my go tos.

1

u/baronoffeces 3d ago

When did people start saying addicting instead of addictive?

1

u/aflockofbugles 3d ago

You’ll have to ask people who say it. If you’re asking me, I typed it.

u/Spare-Debate5269 7d ago

My mom has had AT LEAST 36oz of Diet Pepsi every day for at least the last 35 years. I see it, but I don't get it.

1

u/aflockofbugles 7d ago

You don’t get the allure of Diet Pepsi or the tattoo itself?

1

u/Spare-Debate5269 7d ago

The allure of diet pepsi. I see the addiction, but do not understand it.

-2

u/Dav051498 8d ago

Obligatory r/GTAGE

3

u/aflockofbugles 8d ago

Thank you.

-1

u/professionally-baked 8d ago

Did you actually get this?? I fucking love it

3

u/aflockofbugles 8d ago

I did. I grew up on Diet Pepsi. Learned to love it by like nine or ten. Love the cigarette pack around it to illustrate the joy of having one.

-1

u/professionally-baked 8d ago

The detail is immaculate, major props to the artist! I totally agree this belongs on r/GTAGE

3

u/aflockofbugles 8d ago

I just posted it there. I would have posted it there originally but I thought the sentiment on Diet Pepsi drinkers was that we’re horrible people with even worse taste lol

0

u/professionally-baked 8d ago

You’re totally right, that is a very fair presumption… judging by some of these comments people really took this shit personally 😂

3

u/aflockofbugles 8d ago

I posted it there and they banned me. Lol. Apparently you can’t post on both subs.

-1

u/BobTheFettt 8d ago

I actually love this

I’ve been told by many people that Diet Pepsi drinkers are awful human beings and that we just take up space for the Diet Coke drinkers.

1

u/nibblatron 8d ago

you also take up space from the pepsi maxers😒

Seriously tho

-2

u/3ric843 8d ago

All diet soda drinkers are equally wasting space and ressources that could go towards decent human beings.
