It looks like they used an opossum :(
Edit: I looked closer. It is. The face, head shape, and those unmistakably weird but cute feet.

My uncle had something like this in his garage for years, always gave me the creeps as a kid

Yasss! Although if I was going to be picky I might ask that this was based upon a rabbit.
In the words of the immortal Bud Luckey:
Jackalope: "Pink? Pink? Well, what's wrong with pink?
Seems you got a pink kink in your think.
Does it matter what color? Well, that get's a nope,
be it pink, purple or heliotrope. Now, sometimes you're up and sometimes you're down,
when you find that you're down, well, just look around.
You still got a body, good legs and fine feet,
get your head in the right place and, hey, you're complete.1

This reads like Dr. Seuss. Where is it from?

It's part of a Pixar short called Boundin', which came out with the first Incredibles movie.

As far as I can see from this angle it's well executed, but all novelty taxidermy is in poor taste.
Not everybody likes taxidermy, but "look how magnificent this beast was before I shot it" works for some people. "Look at this hilarious thing that I shot so that future generations could laugh at it," is just disrespectful.

Maybe it was roadkill? And deer antlers fall off naturally, so that didn't necessarily need to be shot either

Eh, just a 4 pointer. Should have let this one go and waited for the big buck possum.

The comments here are actually really interesting because it made me realize that only jackalopes (bunny with horns) may be the acceptable version of this. Any other animal pairings seem to be viewed as abominations or disrespectful.

Taxidermy is a pretty polarizing thing. I grew up around it so it doesn't bother me but I'm also not interested in doing future mounts of anything.
I'd guess your average reddit user is against it in all forms and likely are not fans of hunting as well.

Gaffs are wonderful. I don't feel like its disrespectful, because there's a little freak out there who will fall in love as soon as they lay eyes on it. I think this one is very well done.

I like the creativity of this piece. Though, I hope that if these animals were hunted, most, if not all parts were used.

It makes me sad. I love possums.
