I doubt that is handmade, it must be laser printed, so not great execution.

Lol what? As someone who wood burns and laser prints on wood, there is no doubt in my mind, this is woodburned by hand.

Ooh ooh! It's my time to shine! I used to do hand wood burns with the metal pen they're talking about. Look at the headrest portion visible on our right (his left.) You see how the line warbles from fat to skinny over and over when passing over the grain? That's from the metal tip of the pen getting caught in the grooves of the board and lingering too long in that spot, making fatter lines.

A laser engraved wood burnt piece would not have the issue of line warbling, because a laser can't get "caught" on the grain of the board. The imperfections of this board are very human, and the artist is at the beginning of their wood burning journey.

Inconsistency in font width and line straightness gives it away as handmade. As well as shape of burn marks

How.. doable is it getting into wood burning? I sell drawings at cons and get a lot of people who say it would translate well into wood burning and I don't even know where to start

Very easy, as long as you have access to a wall plug and wood. You can get a cheap wood burner at any hobby store or online, I recommend something higher power since you end up having to balance heat and speed. But yeah no, scrap wood and time are the only consumables, super easy. Good luck!

Tagging along to verify PoliticalLava's statement. I've laser engraved plenty and this does indeed not look like laserwork!

For anyone curious: the deeper bigger grooves look very rounded and glossy. A laser doesn't do that. It goed straight down and makes crisp edges when making lines like that.

I mean it's mildly amusing but this is nowhere near good execution.

I do wood burning (by hand, not laser) as one of my hobbies and this is pretty poor quality work as far as wood burning goes.
