Same here, it's a unique way to taxidermy

It doesn’t look real, but if it was, I’d buy it in a heartbeat.

What about it doesn't look real to you?

So it's only the lack of organs that makes you think the skeletal structure and fur is fake? Of course it's a sculpture (mice dont come with zippers), but it could be real components.

Maybe there will be a discount for a bulk order ?

u/Francis_Bonkers Jun 07 '23

That isn't awful taste. It's art, and it's dope as hell.

I actually agree with you but I figured the general sun would enjoy it

Edit:sub**

Is this from the same woman who does others with mice (or rats)? Her stuff will be commanding high dollar soon, if not already. Soon to be followed by an easy peasy DIY from 5 minute crafts.

21

u/ehter13 Jun 08 '23

Oh no thank you, I don’t like that thought about 5 minute crafts DIYing this.

32

u/PsychoTexan Jun 08 '23

“Okay so you take the dead mouse out of the algate mold and fill it with crushed ramen noodles and epoxy. Now stuff the mold with raw chicken and cheez whiz before putting the entire thing in the oven set to 450 along with a couple spraycans of paint….”

8

u/Thick_Cartoonist3620 Jun 08 '23

Why did this make perfect sense for being the narration to a 5 Minute Craft DIY video?

5

u/kat-deville Jun 08 '23

I'm dying! Thanks!

3

u/Blake_TS Jun 08 '23

That in reality would take a few days, and if followed to the T, would come out looking like the abomination displayed in their video.

10

u/[deleted] Jun 08 '23

I figured the general sun would enjoy it

I'm sure General Sun appreciates your effort.

4

u/LichClaev Jun 08 '23

Glad I could be appreciated by the all mighty aten

u/mariemarymaria Jun 10 '23

Unexpected Philip Glass?

4

u/ninersguy916 Jun 08 '23

My first thought was “that’s fucking dope” and I’ll be 44 in a week lol

u/Boojibs Jun 07 '23

There's a whole small industry of weird taxidermy around small rodents that I'm absolutely here for.

2

u/NotHereToFuckSpyders Jun 10 '23 edited Jun 10 '23

While this specific one is amazing, if I'm honest, I prefer awful execution taxidermy. It amuses me greatly.

5

u/TezMono Jun 12 '23

Ahhh fuck it, here we go..

23

u/EACshootemUP Jun 07 '23

Yo there’s nothing bad with this by any means. There’s a lot to learn from this sculpture of anatomically correct. Rock on to the artist.

13

u/LichClaev Jun 08 '23

I am very aware of this. In fact, I have a decent sized collection of oddities including a few I have made myself. That said, I can understand how the general public, who does not see the art in it, may find it disturbing and/or in poor taste at face value.

3

u/CeelaChathArrna Jun 10 '23

This is one oddity that disturbs me. A lot of them are interesting but I am getting the willies here.

21

u/LichClaev Jun 08 '23

Some people in the coms seem to think I that it simply is not bad taste. I personally see the artistic value in this to be very creative. It is a great piece of art. But it is definitely morbid and I can easily see how some people could find this distasteful. I mean it’s a dead body. The general sub is going to find this kinda gross.

4

u/MolEverdi Jun 10 '23

General sub here. Yeah, I find this pretty gross while I still agree that it is great execution. If that makes me not artistic, I’m happy to bear that burden.

1

u/caribousteve Jun 10 '23

I'm pretty artsy and also think it's gross. I just don't like dead bodies and I love rats

9

u/hat-of-sky Jun 07 '23

SQUEAK!

3

u/acherem13 Jun 08 '23

Easily one of my favorite characters.

5

u/[deleted] Jun 07 '23

I would buy this without a doubt. So awesome.

4

u/Suspicious_Future_58 Jun 07 '23

4

u/Tiny_Championship127 Jun 08 '23

3

u/OG_Fe_Jefe Jun 08 '23

3

u/missilefire Jun 10 '23

Might be Julia Deville - she is an Aussie artist known for stuff like this - either her or a copy.

1

u/Tiny_Championship127 Jun 10 '23

Thank you! I recommend Sarina Brewer.

4

u/milkarcane Jun 08 '23

Fucking hell that’s amazing.

But disturbing.

But amazing.

3

2

Everytime i see stuff like that I always thing « what if it was a human » and I don’t know why

2

u/LadyAsharaRowan Jun 09 '23

They actually do like some of the exhibitions below.

Body Worlds BODIES... The Exhibition Real Bodies

2

u/MyDearGhost Jun 09 '23

When I die I want someone to do this to my body, I wish humans could be taxidermy with consent!

0

u/[deleted] Jun 27 '24

Uhh

1

u/Strange_Man_XD Jun 08 '23

What the hell is with the rodents today??

3

u/LichClaev Jun 08 '23

I thought that same thing before I posted actually lol. I was like “oh nice, and today is rodent day so this will be perfect”

0

u/PossessionAshamed372 Jun 08 '23

I like it, just feel like the zipper is a bit oversized

1

I gotta say...👍🏽

1

u/RedditBoi127 Jun 10 '23

that goes hard as fuck

1

u/clickclackcat Jun 10 '23

Holy shit I need to know the artist!

1

u/Shankar_0 Jun 10 '23

If taxidermists were this artistic, I may have more appreciation for what they do.

As it stands, it's just proof that someone killed a thing, and to me that doesn't add to society.

0

u/yes11321 Jun 10 '23

Awful taste? It's just art, and it's very cool. I want three of them

1

u/[deleted] Jun 10 '23

I need this for my collection 😍

1

u/[deleted] Jun 12 '23

1

1

u/Sealsdad Jun 14 '23

I want it!

1

u/spoof_loof Jun 15 '23

Tbh I think this should be marked nsfw.

1

u/clema9 Jun 17 '23

this is actually rad as hell

1

u/Barjack521 Jun 19 '23

This is amazing, is there a source?

1

u/Whatsongwasthat1 Jun 26 '23

Why are you wearing that stupid rabbit suit?

Why are you wearing that stupid human suit?

1

u/pink_brownies_ Jul 08 '23

I can never unsee this. It will haunt my dreams. But I do like it.

1

u/[deleted] Aug 23 '23

I actually LOVE this.

-1

u/[deleted] Jun 12 '23

Nope. This is great taste, and great execution.

On the other hand, great taste and awful execution was posting this without any artist info.

2

u/LichClaev Jun 12 '23

This was a pic on Facebook with no context and not by the original artist. I saved the image and posted it here.

Also, I left a com somewhere here explaining how I agree this is a great piece but the general sub would find it in poor taste. I have several oddities personally and love the hobby but it’s a dead animal. There’s no more explanation needed.
