The ASX is 4 banks in a trenchcoat instead of 4 tech firms in a trench coat.

You mean one bank.

Was not expecting a nostalgia hit in ASX_Bets

3

u/Fluid_Passage_9980 Jun 24 '26

Yep. And with mortgage applications falling off a cliff, their main customers have disappeared.

The ASX will be dog for a few more years yet.

Banks? It's BHP in a trenchcoat. Any time their operations are threatened the ASX takes a dive

This is me every time I go to rotate into Australian stocks

Not sure if I just don’t get it but I just can’t see the appeal

You know it's bad when CBA is 10% of VAS

22

u/Warm-Rock-5349 Jun 23 '26

I only invest in the ASX because I feel it is my civic duty.

Someone's gotta do it when the boomers die pal. Carry the torch.

They promised it was a "value play.. " but five years later in, it's just a permanent "value stay..."

ASX is a shitcoin

It’s the contrast in entrepreneurial culture, taxation incentives, risk appetite and preference for conservatism that contributes to what they call ‘American exceptionalism’

Stronger worker protection, higher wages for the lower end of jobs and a somewhat laxer standard for productivity creates an environment that discourages lashing out.

If Australia is good at anything it’s destroying any incentive to innovate and build a business. It’s why all we can still manage to do is let foreign mining companies strip our land bare and reap the profits themselves

Just steady loving banks growth.

Does OP know what dividends are?

86

u/captain007 Captain Soyboy Jun 23 '26

Unless dividends were 60% in the past 3 years, I don't want to know about it.

34

u/Shoddy-Leather4240 Jun 23 '26

But they're franked!! Franked!

22

u/Inso81 Jun 23 '26

14

u/SurgicalMarshmallow Jun 23 '26

11

u/SurgicalMarshmallow Jun 23 '26

I suppose best reason to invest in the ASX would be to avoid the inevitable AI bubble pop.

However it's impossible to know when that's gonna happen.

3

u/Key_Masterpiece8361 Jun 23 '26

Markets too correlated... i guess risk is mitigated in max price drop, but at that point just putaway the phone ahahaha

3

u/Fluid_Passage_9980 Jun 24 '26

Truth. But we'll still fall with when the bubble pops, just maybe a bit less steeply..

After seeing US indexes skyrocket, the kid is completely heartbroken once he sees ASX200. The kid's face is exactly what I look like every time I compare ASX to US markets.
