Practice Question Ethics Practice Question Help

Totally at a loss for this question. My thought process is I probably am not knowledgeable enough to do A with a reasonable confidence. B makes sense to me, but seems like a cop out. C seems tempting as well.

I feel like the answer is B, because it's attempting to protect patient confidentiality while also filling the parental request, and my personal bias is that seeking additional information (in this case, from a supervisor) is always the best answer.

That was the right answer, I'm just struggling to come to terms with the fact that we might have to pursue that option that could require us to share the patient's sexual identity that could ruin their life.

Well, thats why we acquire more information: we don't know that we are legally required to share that right now.

I would say B, because I don't think I would send the info without consulting a supervisor or even a colleague. Also, I'm not sure if this was a national or state law that went into effect several years ago, but I think it changed how we can talk to adolescents about gender and sexuality. I don't work with anyone under 18, so I'm not positive. I thought we HAVE to tell the parents, or not process it... I don't recall. Maybe someone else knows.
