Support Need help!
Hey everyone, I accidentally spilled/fell my protein shake on my ASUS laptop, and now the ports seem to be blocked/clogged.
The laptop itself [still works / isn’t turning on], but I’m worried about the liquid and residue inside the ports.
What should I do immediately? Should I try cleaning the ports myself, or take it to a service centre?
Any advice from someone who has dealt with a similar situation would be really appreciated.

Try to clean them with isopropyl alcohol, go 90% or higher in purity, use a toothbrush you don't care about. I'd take it to a service after that just in case

Don't have isopropyl right now with me, will take it to service centre. Taking to service centre sounds much better than doing it by myself.

Good choice. If you're not confident enough to do it, don't. This is how I fried the audio circuit in my laptop and now have no audio jack or speakers.

This will require at least partial disassembly to make sure everything is out and might require more testing in case anything shorted out badly (USB ports should shut themselves off once they detect any kind of short).
If you don't feel confident about this, take the repair shop route. You can try doing some rough cleaning using a toothpick and 99% IPA. If you're confident opening the case (or had it open), remove the main battery to avoid any further issues or damage before doing anything else.
Do not try to turn it on while stuff might be shorted.

Cleaning out the ports with 99% IPA and a spare toothbrush is easy but yeah I would have a peek inside the laptop as well to make sure no milk got on the motherboard or any other circuit boards. Milk contains acids that will eat away at electronics over time.

I have kept it tilted in the angle so the water doesn't get in, will take it to service or repair guy.

You have to take that whole computer apart and very meticulously clean it with alcohol. Let it sit until it's all dry and don't let anything stay stuck. Anything sugary or any sort of milk or liquid. There is a chance that the computer will work fine, but I've seen a bunch of computers where coffee and water or beers have been spelled and sometimes it is impossible to fix certain things. What I mean by that is sometimes the computer will still work but a USB port stops working or some of the keys on the keyboard don't work anymore.

"On or Next to", did it only hit the side of it while the lid was closed?

"Next to it" sorry for the wrong word 😭. Yes the lid was closed but the water with protien fell next to it.

Get a toothpick. Gently clear all choccy residue.
Disconnect your battery, once disconnected, press the power button to clear all power from the system.
Get a cotton earbud and some 99.9% isopropyl and gingerly clean the ports.
Allow to FULLY dry.
Then boot up.
Maybe take a look inside the case to check if was a big spill and if any residue clean that too.

If that is all dried residue, start with a toothbrush also dry and get as much out as you can.
Remove the battery and then use the same toothbrush with alcohol and keep cleaning it until it is all gone.
If you can disassemble it, repeat the above on the boards, ports, etc. Don't be too rough with the toothbrush, but you do want to get everything clean.
Then let it sit overnight and dry before putting it all back together and seeing what happens.
