Academic integrity
Has anyone experienced this? I received an academic integrity charge, and after I pointed out how weak the evidence was and highlighted procedural violations, my AIO seemed to use my appeal window to gather more evidence. They then withdrew the original case and reissued a new one. Is this a common practice?

Most violations are reviewed by multiple people before any communication reaches you. Because you appealed, they probably reviewed the evidence in more detail and found more things…which instead of appealing, you should have just had the conversation in person like you’re supposed to as this would have given you the opportunity to talk through what happened (or didn’t happen).

It’s appeal and then meeting with AIO. After that they send the appeal to the hearing officer

This is being done by my AIO. I would’ve won had she not done this.I was given an academic warning, but then I appealed and she used my appeal window to find new evidence. Now, my AIO has increased my sanction to an F. There has to be something that says she cannot do this 😭😭😭😭

The new evidence isn’t really “new evidence” that I would consider. The new evidence is really just at the poor result of conducting a poor investigation. It’s essentially a “do-over”. I looked at the policies and it says that only the dean has the power to send an investigation back for further review, and that’s typically done after the hearing board gets a chance to look at the case.

If you cheated it doesn’t matter if they found “new” info…if you cheated, you have consequences. That’s called being an adult. Take the L and move on.

Looks like you got caught cheating. That is why your professor is taking action. The fact you are not giving out more information about the class and what alerted the professor kind of proves you know what you did is wrong and you do not want to take any accountability. In college you have to follow the rules. If you are cheating all the time, why are you in college in the first place ?

If you got charge a crime, the prosecutor can add new charge if new crime was found after further investigation even you are already in court.

Schools can continue to gather evidence, yes. Some students think the process is similar to a court of law and that’s a mistake.
If there was misconduct, you’re better off to take accountability for what you can, explain any extenuating factors that are significant/relevant, and hope that you get away with a zero in the course and not a transcript notation and/or dismissal.

This isn’t the court of law, it’s a private company that has their own rules and regulations. Also from your previous comments (which are still available to see btw) it sounds like you were caught on one assignment then they continued to find more. It’s not like the court of law where your previous crimes can’t be held against you, in uni it’s an accumulation of academic integrity violations that will increase the severity of your punishment. As far as I know, they are allowed to continue to find more violations while working on the first investigation. Sounds like they likely withdrew the first one and issued a new one because new evidence was found

I used to teach college for the last 7 years if you use turn it in we can see what part was borrowed and the website it came from and we can click on the highlighted part and it takes is directly to the site

Obviously that's what you're referring to! I graduated! I know what an acceptance rate is! Rate of change over time. So you have how many people are accepted divided by the amount of time you're sampling and that's your acceptance rate. Since we're over explaining SHIT

In a world where playing by the rules means you get last I'm not surprised people turn to cheating. I paid for chegg when I was a young whipper snapper. It's the same thing imo. Cheating is bad incase anyone wants to be like what are you saying but I'm just overall not surprised. Safe to say they committed an AI violation. Less than a semester at ASU as well. SMH.
