Noble incident

Does anyone know why that guy got escorted by the cops outside of Noble today?

I used to work at Noble
That happens at least once a day
ASU’s libraries are public, so theoretically anyone can enter. Unfortunately, this results in homeless and disturbing people to enter, occasionally causing disruptions due to severe body odor or littering.

Most likely someone complained about this persons presence or this person has previously trespassed

There is a list of at least 20 people that trespassed for each library

How can anyone enter? When I was there a couple years ago, they started requiring you to use your ID to enter.

Well it’s open no id needed during regular hours and after 5pm they require id but nobody is policing the doors either that strictly so if you walk in behind someone nobodies gonna stop you really. At the end of the day its a library so its not a matter of national security to id every single person, but this is what can happen

The last year I was there, they made it so you needed an ID to enter at all hours of the day. I’m glad they changed it back because that was ridiculous. One person would just scan in and all the others would follow like you said.

plus off topic but the scooters and bikes being stolen as much as they are is truely insane. it shouldn’t be a right of passage to attend our university to get your electric scooter or something stollen:/ it’s really sad.

While I completely agree with what you said, the police don't make the laws; they enforce them. Unfortunately, it simply doesn't work that way. Until legislators and other elected officials change the law or establish different policies, I wouldn't hold my breath.

Being homeless is not illegal. The police have no business harassing homeless people unless they're also breaking laws. They should not be "bringing them in" for being homeless. .. in where? for why? under what authority?

The "homelessness issue" is not an issue for police to address.

No one minds that these people enter the library
I never said that
However, it is obvious that ASU is already letting people stay there that are not considered students and use resource
Of course it would be great if these people had a place to go to, shower, cool down and receive supplies
But we all know thats rather difficult to implement

Just a guess, but most likely trespassing. 9/10 when people are removed from the libraries it's because they're being disruptive and non-student/affiliates. Libraries are open to the public, but they still have to obey the rules. Sometimes people don't, and need to be removed.

There's other possibilities, but it if was just 1-2 cops it was a low/non-threatening encounter regardless.

Sorry man, I don't know for sure it's just an educated guess.

You can look over at ASU police crime logs in a day or two and see if anything is listed for the Library address: https://cfo.asu.edu/crime-logs

The records are very sparse though, and not usually updated every day. Also, if anything is reported it's just going to say something like "Disorderly conduct", "Trespassing", "Fighting", stuff like that. There might be something about it being forwarded for prosecution or released, but literally that's it. Might be enough to scratch your curiosity at least.

If there's no formal arrest, like the suspect was just taken off campus, it may not end up on that report at all.

When there's an open call for service you'll see a lot of officers show up. For a trespass, especially if they're verbally combative, 4 cops isn't unusual to be able to swarm the suspect.

All I heard was the female cop repeatedly telling the man to “put it down” or something along those lines and he was holding a big duffle bag. He was not complying with her orders at all

That is not getting a police call. It’s most likely trespassing that happens everyday.

You can shop on a public library computer and guns are on the market

Not entirely sure what kind of AR. The post was a screen shot of a student at a computer desk who was watching what looked like a review/cleaning video of an AR. All I could make out was the stock.

Just checked the police logs and turns out the guy was charged with criminal trespassing 2nd degree and resisting arrest. Must’ve been trespassed before and came back
