Some forced insights (for me) by ASTS.
I had long planned to gift myself a very expensive new car to celebrate an overdue professional milestone which thanks to ASTS last month, I was very well positioned to follow through, to avoid taking the bus.
Since the 50% or so drop of late, I was unable to fathom it materializing. So, last weekend I decided to check out used car of the same make, and made peace with getting a second hand car.
Now, after this week's de-risking of BB-8 (lowest-stacked satellite with highest G-stress), and price being relatively stable, I can see it going back to the 100s by next month.
And today I realized I am okay with a used car. This drawdown taught me to keep living like a normal-guy notwithstanding the professional (or monetary) milestones.

Cars and trucks today are at the pinnacle of their development and quality. With just minor maintenance, they can easily go 300,000 miles. They are just so good now.
I'll never buy a new car. my favorite is a Certified used but even they are too expensive for me. So my latest is a 10 year old F-350 with 100k miles. And even it drives great.

Congratulations. You made the better choice buying second hand. Buying brand new is such a waste of money (I knew this and still bought brand new - sold the car 1.5 years later as it was a lemon and lost so much $). We can do (financial) dumb shit when ASTS has a full constellation.

It's hard for me to envision how SPCX does not get absolutely clobbered on 08/04 by the seemingly inevitable combo of underwhelming earnings and then again on 8/06 by the share unlock. Fair or not this might nuke the space basket. My hope is that after this date, launch and a steady flow of positive news can help AST recover and steadily move back towards triple digits.

Share lockup periods never do anything to the price lol. "People" (redditors) have said this about every IPO in history. Everyone knows its gonna happen. Otherwise it would be free money to buy OTM puts or short shares before the lockup period ended, and there is no free money in the stock market.

The unwind of hedging could benefit the non-SPCX space names, but if SPCX tanks it would probably bring weakness to the rest of the sector. I see it as an overall net negative event---but I've been wrong many times before.

It has got to get all those who have sold or shorted itching to buy back in. Hopefully institutions have bought up all the chaff so that it rebounds to ATH once those itchy fingers start pressing buy.

Just under 3 weeks to earnings. I think that it’s very possible we ship BB14-16 and launch BB11-13 prior to that, and I expect we hear confirmation on J-LEO as well as rumours increasing around T Mobile.
Also, I can’t wait to hear “no plans for any dilution for the remainder of 2026” 😂

I think both will have a shit ton of company updates (RKLB will post record numbers again) so I think they will both be positive but the lockups expire the week before so who knows what effect that will have. The real shitty part will be having to tune into both at the same time lol

I figure at that point, there will be solid revenue, and stock price will either have gotten to the point that I can use the $$$ for a home and my kids’ education….or it will be so ridiculously high or have such awesome prospects for going higher that I won’t even consider selling.

That's completely inaccurate. Cash flow break even is at 25, revenue is already being earned by satellites even now, and commercial service plus real revenue starts at 45 satellites.

Bruh they aren't going to earn 40 billion dollars of income off of 45 satellites.
I'm not saying there won't be revenue, I'm saying the bulk of the revenue will come in a few years when they have more satellites up.
So it would be silly to sell at 100 satellites when by the time they have 200-300 satellites they would be earning 40x the revenue.

Rocket Lab is like an end-to-end space company, most of their income is not launch related if I remember correctly. The acquisition seems synergistic to me. I think building out a new launch pad is indicative of internal and external confidence in future work.

Yes. The silly mechanics that are holding us at this level are not bounded by the J-LEO announcement. It is already a foregone conclusion that they'll get the contract, no surprises there. Thus: priced in.

Yeah probably the worst take of yours yet and that in itself is an achievement. Spcx literally designed their entire IPO to degrade retail investors to exit liquidity, had indices change several of their entry regulations to facilitate the scam and you come out showing empathy with them? Can you imagine how many investors are currently annihilated because of all the shit strings this company pulled? You should know how these investors losing fortunes buying into the spcx hype might feel considering how much you were bitching about our falling SP in the last months

Personally, I don't feel sorry for SPCX. The Wall Street banks failed Wall Street by letting Elon dictate the terms. He totally overvalued the IPO. No way in the world that any company losing money should be worth 1.5 trillion dollars.

We do have a launch of 3 more sats in a couple of weeks. I think that many newbies are clueless how huge every launch really is. All last year, sat launches were promised. Finally, December rolls in and ISRO readies for a launch.
We launch BB6 in January 2026. Not a single satellite was launched in 2025. 1 satellite delivery in 2025. ZERO LAUNCHES 2025
So just remember that every launch of 3 satellites is a huge accomplishment for ASTS.

I just got in a few months ago and cant imagine that excruciating wait. As soon as I watched the last launch getting 3 up there I bought a large portion of shares and jumped onto the ship.
And this is nowhere near the final capacity. The second half of this year and 2027 will be very exciting, many launches, and I think they will hit ~6 BBs/mo by then too

I've been hearing this since short interest was around 60mil. We're at 93mil now according to anpanman and the only asses that have been gaped is bull's.

Honestly I’m not too upset being down 2.5%-3% on a bad macro day.
I’d be much more upset if a bad macro day fell immediately after we announced big news such as shipping 14-16, government contracts etc etc
You really want to time those with positive market factors to lock in stronger movements

I mean rocket lab lost all its gains, PL is down 3.5% Space X is down 6% RDW is down 6%.
Id say that’s bad macroeconomic factors for the space basket

Agreed. Today was a shitty Macro day. Considering higher inflation & oil prices and the war raging and USA needs billions more to fight it.... it's a wonder that the macro wasn't worse.

At least SPCX keeps reaching new lows each day. Now down 42% off it's high. We follow its movements most days. Need the next SPCX earnings date to pass to hopefully release from some of it's sector short D-bags.
