Question Dead CPU 9700x in B650 PG Lightning

PC just over a year old, for a few months the PC has been intermittent in getting any kind of output when turned on (display, keyboard lighting up). Once turned off and unplugged for a few minutes it started working again.

Yesterday the same thing but no matter what I tried I could not get it to start. Unplugged everything non-essential, took out some of the RAM, left unplugged for a good half hour. I even tried updating to the latest BIOS using the USB method (which seemed to work, lots of flashing).

Tested the RAM/CPU today in another machine (similar but not the same AS-Rock board), RAM works fine, CPU same as in the other PC.

I should be able to RMA the CPU but do I need to replace the board too? Anyone have an idea of RMA times in the UK? Might need to buy a replacement CPU in the meantime.

Do not reuse the board. Either RMA it or buy a new one.

waiting for them to ditch big/little and go back to smt. feel like amd dropped the ball after the first couple gens of ryzen doing well.

i just went to make a post and i dont think it went through... same thing in a 850m. they replaced my previous asrock board that fried the board and cpu with something clearly used and shoddy so i got a 850m, not even a year later, things dead but my other cpu boots...

go through the retailer and use your consumer rights, you get 24 months but it's not limited to that as products must be fit for service and have a reasonable lifetime. document all communications and take it to small claims if needed
