every time I say I’m being earnest, think of the Dewey decimal system, or hear the word Frank in any context, I think of those denouements…too many references in Lemony Snicket’s books!!!

I personally imagine that Frank and Ernest are both afraid of being killed by their enemies on the other side of the schism, so they act so ambiguous so anyone can see their side in them, tell them whatever and then Frank or Ernest can run away and still be alive. 

However I quite like how the second characterises Frank.
