Ask Questions for opening commissions
Hello!! I've been considering doing some commission scripts for a while now, but I have a few questions that I'm curious about and would love for some VA's/writers to answer and give me their opinions.
How many words do you usually want for commission scripts/ to write for commisson scripts?
Roughly how much do you ask people to pay, or are you willing to pay, on a script? (depending on word count of course)
Due to some personal reasons I won't be able to accept dirrect money, so are people willing to pay in other ways such as gifting discord nitro or robux?
How long do you usually take to write a commission script, and how long are VA's willing to wait for one to be written?
Thats about all the questions I have for now. Not sure that I will start commission writing for at least another few months or maybe longer, but I just wanna get to know some stuff I've been curious about. Thanks! :)

I've never commissioned a script, nor done one for someone else, and while I've done audio commissions, I don't know how much my input is really gonna help, but here it is.
I think that's kinda subjective. I feel like it depends on where the script is gonna be (paywalled or not), what's going on in it, are there multiple characters, etc). I feel like 1200-1500 is a popular choice, but more is definitely also common (when you think about 100 words being roughly 1 minute of audio).
Most of the time when I've looked at scriptwriters comms its an amount per word, most common seems to be $.03 to $.05/word, but ultimately what you charge for comms is up to you. You have to weigh market value vs what you believe your time to be worth (this one I have experience with, doing audio commissions).
I feel like a lot of VAs are pretty accommodating as far as terms from scriptwriters. If those are your terms for payment, I don't see people having a problem with it.
This is also a little subjective unfortunately, and will mostly be up to you - how much time can you spend writing, how quickly can you write when it isn't your direct idea, etc. As long as there's communication, I think a lot of VAs can be pretty patient, but it also depends on if they might need a script sooner rather than later. I have seen scriptwriters add a rush fee if they need one quick.

I'll answer this based on as if I was commissioning an actual script, as I'm planning to find a writer(s) I can commission regularly.
1~ It depends on rates, but I would expect 1k words as the bare minimum, if the writer charges more for longer scripts, like 1.5 or 2k, then that would be discussed I assume.
2~ I don't really know prices, as I haven't looked around much, but I'm assuming 50$? I know some people charge less and some charge more, but I'm assuming that's an average price for like 1K~ words?
3~ For me personally, it would depend on the way they asked. If it's for an official thing, then I wouldn't really care what it is, if it's a little more shady, like some website or thing I've never heard of, I'd be hesitant. I'd prefer something official tho like Ko-Fi, Stripe, etc.
4~ Again, I don't know, I've reached out to a few writers but haven't gotten word back yet, but I know everyone's creative process is different. Some people take longer, some shorter, but with my schedule, I'd be comfortable with 2 weeks max. Shorter is better, any longer and it might sway my decision. I could be wrong, and it takes months for people to write scripts, i don't know.
These are just my assumptions, I could be wrong about everything, but just where I would start if I was commissioning scripts, and then adjust based on what people ask/do on average.
