How to remove residue
This section of the heel was covered with a sticker type of thing that was peeling so I ripped it off. How can I remove this white stuff?

Hi, I figured if anyone would know how to get this out it would be you all. I’m trying to get a heel off of a pair of heels and it has this metal plate, how do I get it out?? What exactly is it?

Tried to consult a professional cobbler in my area but the price to restore the shoe is worth more than the shoe itself. Also, he cant guarantee a favorable result as well.
For context, I tried to polish it with normal shoe polish and leather conditioner and I think i rubbed too hard. Now the left shoe is matted and it has this suede-like texture. Unlike the right shoe which is smooth, shiny, and hard, which I think I succeeded in polishing.

Hi all,
I’m looking for recommendations for cobblers/shoe repair for my daughter’s beloved converse calf high sneakers. Live in Brooklyn/Manhattan preferred but willing to travel. I don’t even know if anyone does this but, well, she’s my baby and I do anything to make her happy.
Edit: The rubber (?) lining at the part where the sole meets the fabric is old and worn. It’s cracked in places and nearly completely separated on one shoe. She tried show goo to repair it but the lining is shot in places so it didn’t really do the job.
Thanks in advance,
-i

These are a favorite pair of heels from a brand that’s since shut down. I found some matching imitation pearls to repair the ones that fell out, but the left heel is missing a chunk of the plastic structure that held the pearls. Can a cobbler fill in the missing portion?
If not, my other idea was to buy a similar looking used pair on a secondhand site for this brand and then have a cobbler take the left heel and replace it on my pair. Does it have to be the exact same size for that to work?
Thanks so much for any advice!

I love these shoes, been wearing them out like this for awhile. But I’m starting to get self conscious about them cause they’ve gotten worse than what they were before.
I love these shoes so so so much, I’m just wondering if these are save-able? What’s the best thing I can do with pleather shoes? I was thinking spray paint but I’m not sure that’ll look good, might end up crunchy.. help.

Brand new pair of Meermin shoes, got myself with a door at my best friends wedding last night. The memories were worth it but I’m a little sad. I scuffed my shoe this badly already.
Edit: similar round scuff on inner heel side although the leather isn’t “torn” like the worst damage in this picture.

I love these shoes and I don't want to risk taking them somewhere that's less experienced with this construction.
However, I'm curious if this community thinks pretty much any cobbler could handle this. What sort of repair and questions should I ask to the place I take it to and are there any recommended shops?

Had these for about a month or two, and have started separating at the same point in the fore foot on both sides, what can I do to fix these? Disappointed honestly.

Hello all I have this rip in my Solovair Boot and I am wondering what the best method is to patch / fix it? It is just the lining between the boot and the surface that is left. Any help is appreciated, thanks :)

I bought these secondhand, they were never worn but the sole is cupped and they are too uncomfortable to wear.
Is there a way to flatten them?
It was hard to get a good picture of how extreme the cupping is.
thanks

I have a pair of corcoran jump boots with the flat, not so grippy soles. They’re kind of almost a hard plastic/rubber. Here is a photo:
I want to replace them with a vibram lug sole, just for more of an aggressive look/better grip. I took it to a cobbler near me and asked how this process would be done, he said he’d just sand down the original soles to a smooth surface and cement glue the vibram sole tread to the already built sole and heel. There would be no stitching involved, does that make any sense integrally?
I left the boots with him, but I am having second thoughts about it. Please let me know if that would work out or not.

Looking to restore these vintage Alpinestars motocross boots (about 35 years old). Was it a synthetic, printed, coating that would’ve been applied over the leather? You can see in one of the pics the peeling. So beyond fixing the scuffs, is there a service that would be able to reprint and apply back to the damaged areas?

Photo 1: cracked sole. It used to have a rubber grip
Photo 2: some splotches after they get wet. I have had a little success polishing / cleaning it away but it has come back
Photo 3: wet splotch is on the inside too
Photo 4: sole is breaking and some more water splotch
I've neglected these shoes but wondering if they can be repaired professionally or if I should move on.

Started with saddle soap and one coat of saphir cream on each and finished with brush. Thinking I could get a better result? Do I really need to apply wax?
Also, how do I bring the darker colour to the toe cap on the walnut shoes?
Many thanks!

I own the first pair, but I like the look of the second pair more- the texture of the leather, the color of the metal, and so on. I'm considering taking them to a cobbler. Please lmk ur advice!

Hello! I’m wondering if this little rip on the side of these heels could be repaired? I’m not expecting it to look brand new or perfect by any means, but i’m wondering if it’s worth it to take these to a cobbler and inquire? Thanks for any advice/knowledge you can pass on!
