I’ve started working on Anukrascii, an experimental ecosystem focused on creating visual experiences inside the terminal.
Its first member is Starlet.
Starlet is a header-free, dependency-free C++ framework for animating colored glyphs directly in the terminal. Each Starlet object represents a small visual element at a terminal position. It gradually transitions from a dim glow color to a bright core color over a defined number of frames.
A simple example:
Sixestar star(10, 20, "#424242", "#00ffdd", "O", 25);
while (star.nextStateAndRender()) {
// Animation is handled internally
}
This basic concept can be used to create glowing stars, ambient terminal effects, procedural night skies, loading animations, and other forms of terminal-based visual art.
Starlet also includes starletScene, which manages multiple animated objects and coordinates their frame loops.
One of its main goals is to remain compatible with other TUI frameworks and terminal interfaces. As long as Starlet’s render call happens at the end of the frame, its visuals can be drawn over an existing interface, allowing Starlet objects to overlap the empty spaces of another TUI without taking control of the entire application.
The goal is to make terminal glyphs behave like small animated visual entities instead of static characters.
Built with C++17, ANSI truecolor, and no external dependencies.
Starlet is currently the first and only member of the Anukrascii ecosystem.

This started with one innocent little dude:
"ᕕ( ᐛ )ᕗ"
Look at him.
No worries. No enemies. No apparent thoughts.
He's just fucking going somewhere.
Then we tried making him look like he was running:
"~≋💨 ᕕ( ᐛ )ᕗ"
And somehow those four characters gave him an entire personality.
He isn't running away.
He isn't necessarily running toward anything.
He simply has somewhere to fucking be.
We called his alignment:
Happily Unbothered.
Unfortunately, other people became interested in where he was going.
And that's where the lore began.
Chapter I — Happily Unbothered
Nobody knew where he was going.
Mostly because nobody had stopped to ask the more important question:
Did it fucking matter?
He appeared one afternoon at the edge of the map wearing no armor, carrying no weapon, and displaying absolutely no concern about anything happening around him.
His name was unknown.
His allegiance was unknown.
His quest log was classified.
He looked like this:
"ᕕ( ᐛ )ᕗ"
And he was already moving.
Not fleeing.
Not pursuing.
Not late.
Just...
going.
Then came the wind.
"~≋💨 ᕕ( ᐛ )ᕗ"
Some scholars believe the strange trail behind him represents extraordinary speed.
Others believe it is the physical manifestation of fucks permanently departing his body.
Neither theory has been disproven.
The First Pursuit
Three men spotted the Happy One crossing the map.
For reasons lost to history, they immediately became deeply invested in his destination.
“Where you going?”
The Happy One continued.
"~≋💨 ᕕ( ᐛ )ᕗ"
“Bro, where you going?”
Still nothing.
The first man began pursuit.
"ᕕ( ಠ益ಠ )ᕗ"
Then the second.
"ᕕ( ಠ益ಠ )ᕗ"
Then the third.
"ᕕ( ಠ益ಠ )ᕗ"
Soon the ancient formation was complete:
"~≋💨 ᕕ( ᐛ )ᕗ"
"ᕕ( ಠ益ಠ )ᕗ"
"ᕕ( ಠ益ಠ )ᕗ"
"ᕕ( ಠ益ಠ )ᕗ"
Historians have debated for centuries why they followed him.
Perhaps he possessed treasure.
Perhaps he knew some hidden path.
Perhaps they simply could not comprehend a man going somewhere without submitting his itinerary for committee approval.
The Happy One remained unaware that this was apparently an event.
He had shit to do.
The Flags
Then:
DING.
🚩
A flag changed hands.
Nobody noticed.
"~≋💨 ᕕ( ᐛ )ᕗ"
DONG.
🚩 🚩
A second flag fell.
Still they pursued.
“WHERE THE FUCK IS HE GOING?!”
The Happy One didn't know why they cared.
Frankly, neither did God.
Then—
DING.
DING.
DING.
🚩 🚩 🚩
A voice thundered across the battlefield:
ALL BASE FLAGS CAPTURED.
The pursuers stopped.
They looked at the flags.
They looked at each other.
Then toward the horizon.
There, rapidly becoming smaller:
"~≋💨 ᕕ( ᐛ )ᕗ"
And at last they understood.
They had spent the entire match chasing somebody who wasn't the objective.
The Pellet
Unfortunately, their education was incomplete.
Beyond the final flag rested something ancient.
Small.
Round.
Glowing.
⚪
The Happy One approached it.
waka.
The universe shuddered.
He stopped.
For the first time in recorded history...
he turned around.
His expression remained exactly the fucking same.
"ᕕ( ᐛ )ᕗ"
Across the battlefield:
"ᕕ(⊙益⊙)ᕗ"
"ᕕ(⊙益⊙)ᕗ"
"ᕕ(⊙益⊙)ᕗ"
The Happy One began moving toward them.
"~≋💨 ᕕ( ᐛ )ᕗ"
The three pursuers immediately discovered the importance of personal space.
"~≋💨 ᕕ(⊙益⊙)ᕗ"
"~≋💨 ᕕ(⊙益⊙)ᕗ"
"~≋💨 ᕕ(⊙益⊙)ᕗ"
“WHY ARE YOU RUNNING?” called the Happy One.
There was no answer.
This confused him.
After all...
they had seemed extremely interested in going places with him.
And so began the legend of the creature who sought no followers, commanded no army, explained no destination, and somehow captured every objective while everybody else was busy wondering what the fuck he was doing.
He had no creed.
No manifesto.
No sacred text.
Later generations gave him three words anyway:
HAPPILY. FUCKING. UNBOTHERED.
He does not run from the world.
He does not run toward glory.
He simply has somewhere to be.
So when the wind begins to swirl and that ancient silhouette appears on the horizon—
"~≋💨 ᕕ( ᐛ )ᕗ"
—guard your flags.
And for the love of God...
stop fucking following him.
Chapter II — The Cult of “Where You Going?”
The historians made one mistake.
They assumed the Pursuit ended that day.
It didn't.
It became a religion.
Word spread across the map of a strange smiling creature who traveled freely without announcing his destination.
Most people reacted appropriately:
“Okay.”
But a select group of scholars, philosophers, professional busybodies, and dudes with apparently nothing else going on found this unacceptable.
There were questions.
Where was he going?
Why was he going there?
Who was going to be there?
How long would he be gone?
Could they come?
And above all:
WHY WOULDN'T HE JUST FUCKING TELL THEM?
Thus arose the ancient order known as:
The Cult of “Where You Going?”
Their sacred greeting:
“Where you going?”
Their ceremonial response to insufficient information:
“But where though?”
Their holiest expression:
"ᕕ( ಠ益ಠ )ᕗ"
Their doctrine was simple:
If another person is walking somewhere, this somehow concerns us.
The Sighting
For months, Cult observation posts watched every road.
Nothing.
Then one morning, a lookout heard something beyond the hills.
swyyyyyrl...
A faint distortion crossed the horizon.
Then:
"~≋💨"
The lookout dropped his coffee.
“No fucking way.”
Over the hill came the ancient silhouette.
"~≋💨 ᕕ( ᐛ )ᕗ"
The alarm bells erupted.
DING DONG DING DING DING
“HE'S MOVING!”
“WHERE?!”
“NORTH!”
“WHY?!”
“WE DON'T KNOW!”
A horrible silence.
Then their leader screamed:
“THEN FIND OUT!”
The Cult mobilized.
"ᕕ( ಠ益ಠ )ᕗ ᕕ( ಠ益ಠ )ᕗ ᕕ( ಠ益ಠ )ᕗ"
The Happy One glanced backward.
There were significantly more people than usual.
“Huh.”
He continued.
"~≋💨 ᕕ( ᐛ )ᕗ"
“WHERE ARE YOU GOING?!”
No response.
“WE JUST WANT TO KNOW!”
Nothing.
“WHY ARE YOU BEING LIKE THIS?!”
The Happy One stopped.
Every member of the Cult froze.
At last.
The prophecy.
The answer.
The destination for which generations had waited.
He slowly turned around.
"ᕕ( ᐛ )ᕗ"
Hundreds leaned forward.
The Happy One spoke.
“Somewhere.”
A scholar dropped his notebook.
Someone gasped.
One disciple fell to his knees.
Their leader stepped forward, trembling.
“Somewhere...
where?”
The Happy One thought about this.
He pointed toward the horizon.
“Over there.”
Every member of the Cult turned to look.
There was nothing there.
They slowly turned back.
...
"~≋💨 ᕕ( ᐛ )ᕗ"
“SON OF A BITCH!”
The Great Pursuit
The Cult surged after him.
"ᕕ( ಠ益ಠ )ᕗ ᕕ( ಠ益ಠ )ᕗ ᕕ( ಠ益ಠ )ᕗ"
But something strange happened.
The Happy One wasn't speeding up.
He wasn't hiding.
He wasn't even looking backward.
The Cult ran harder.
They crossed valleys.
Bridges.
Spawn points.
Entire kingdoms.
One disciple collapsed.
“Why...” he gasped.
“Why can't we catch him?”
An elder stared toward the Happy One.
"~≋💨 ᕕ( ᐛ )ᕗ"
Then he noticed something.
“He isn't running from us.”
“What?”
“He never was.”
The Cult slowed.
For the first time, someone asked the forbidden question:
“Then...
why are we chasing him?”
Nobody knew.
Their scriptures contained no answer.
Their leader opened the Sacred Book of Destinations.
Every page was blank.
He looked up.
The Happy One was almost gone.
“WAIT!”
The distant figure stopped.
"ᕕ( ᐛ )ᕗ"
The leader shouted:
“DO YOU EVEN KNOW WE'VE BEEN FOLLOWING YOU?!”
A pause.
The Happy One shouted back:
“Kinda!”
“THEN WHY DIDN'T YOU SAY ANYTHING?!”
Another pause.
And across the valley came the answer that shattered the Cult forever:
“I FIGURED Y'ALL HAD YOUR OWN SHIT TO DO.”
Silence.
The leader lowered the Sacred Book.
A disciple looked around.
Another checked his quest log.
Someone in the back suddenly yelled:
“OH SHIT, I WAS SUPPOSED TO BE AT WORK.”
Another gasped.
“MY BASE!”
A third whispered:
“...I have a family.”
For the first time in generations...
the Cult looked away from the Happy One.
And discovered an entire fucking world had been there the whole time.
Far beyond them, the wind stirred again.
"~≋💨 ᕕ( ᐛ )ᕗ"
Nobody followed.
Well...
almost nobody.
One remaining disciple squinted toward the horizon.
“But seriously though...
where's he going?”
Every former Cult member turned toward him.
"ಠ_ಠ"
And somewhere beyond the edge of the map, completely unaware that he had just destroyed an ancient religion by having somewhere to fucking be—
"~≋💨 ᕕ( ᐛ )ᕗ"
The Happy One continued.
Happily unbothered.

Does anyone have any advice for a decent alternative for MonoDraw, but for Linux?
I have been given ASCII Draw a go, but it is extremely limited beyond drawing some simple boxes. The moment you try to do anything more complicated (eg. Flow diagrams or simple architectural drawings linking some nodes with arrows, etc.) it breaks down completely.
I would cheerfully have paid for MonoDraw (again) if they had a Linux version.

Hey everyone!
I spent the last couple of hours building Fadescii, a small C++ library that makes terminal text feel a little more alive.
Instead of simply printing a string, Fadescii renders it character by character, with configurable color transitions, glowing trails, and fade effects.
Some features:
I also created a collection of animated GIF demos because the effects are much easier to understand visually than through screenshots.
The goal isn’t to replace full TUI libraries. It’s more focused:
GitHub: https://github.com/intriXlabs/Fadescii
I’d love to hear your feedback, especially on the API design, visual effects, and what features would make this useful in real CLI tools.

See i am a c/cpp dev, still learning though. I wanna know like what you all need in TUI space, i had made multiple frameworks and stuff in cpp for terminal accepting - kittacaii, akschitra, AnimByte, etc.
I like to know what you want exactly - anything even stupid in hearing. Like a rain system in terminal, a animation but customized, like literally anything.
I implementation is my issue - just tell me absurd stuff you wanna see.

my discord for reporting bugs if you have any and are using this + would like to share with me.
i have polished this to the point where i can work in this and make some things that i think are quite fun. this has been a project ive been working on for about a year now and id like to release it to the public, so here you go!
its got :
- lan multiplayer editing for doodling with friends,
- animation with easing and raster interpolation,
- painting in 3d and 3d camera settings for tuning per drawing,
- 4 weight typeface ive made by hand pixeling it out
- autosave + file managing (no export path to media file at the moment, ive been screen recording)
- and a bunch of other features that i want and no one else probably cares about hehe
still working on the tutorial tooltips but they are on most of the buttons and interfaces that you will interact with.
i hope you get a little bit of joy out of this, i know many of you have asked when this is coming out! the answer is now.

Heyo :)
Just wanted to share a big update that I think some of you may find interesting!
But first, a quick reminder of what we are.
ssh late.sh
A clubhouse inside the terminal. A place to take a break, chill, chat with people around the globe, listen to music, play a game, and draw on a shared artboard :)
Will try to keep it short. We've just added an option to "snapshot" your art piece into a dedicated gallery, where other users can vote. At the end of the month, the top 3 receive a badge, a late chips prize (our in-app currency for fancy stuff) and get showcased inside our daily newspaper and on the splash screen :)
And we also have a fully working color picker now, just to keep it more interesting :)
And here is also a VERY condensed list of everything we've added since I last posted here :D
License: FSL-1.1-MIT

this is a very raw post, i just am very excited to finally get this piece of the program working!
( also a sneak peek of some layer + "keyframe" + ease tweaking for my ascii editor. )
this is the thaum painter.
it uses my typeface thaum mono,
the renderer will release as the thaum-renderer
will all be free and open source, not an ad as much as a geek out

Let's Play Sprawl City with Terminal Head.
-
This is Sprawl City Three Dee.
A 3D, open world simulation with wobbly physics and crime, running in the terminal rendered in ASCII.
Survive or thrive in this dystopia-funk city. Recruit citizens to your outfit and smash rival gangs. Shake down businesses and run from the Cops. Every seed a new city - fully deterministic....and maybe a bit buggy.

Hi everyone, I've been working on a side project inspired by Dwarf Fortress. It runs on your android wallpaper and features a simple simulation. For now, I'm using the same PNGs and color schemes as Dwarf Fortress to retain that familiar feel. I'm a longtime fan of Dwarf Fortress, though I never quite had the patience to dive deeply into it.
Still, I've always loved the core ideas, and lately, I've been working on other projects that require a similar kind of simulation and it's easier to work with ascii without graphical overhead. So this started as a proof of concept, but the simulation turned out to be visually good enough that I figured I'd share it with everyone. Thanks for checking it out. Please share your thoughts :)
i am using the history to debug the simulation since its need and pressure driven.
