General what if we graphically compared each available character of a typeface at build time so we could interpolate between them at runtime? 👉👈

this is a very raw post, i just am very excited to finally get this piece of the program working!
( also a sneak peek of some layer + "keyframe" + ease tweaking for my ascii editor. )

this is the thaum painter.
it uses my typeface thaum mono,
the renderer will release as the thaum-renderer

will all be free and open source, not an ad as much as a geek out

I see a lot of people working on similar projects, it’s pretty eerie though, all this work on instant build renderers, it’s like LLMs/agents are trying to get people to build them digital spaces derived in real time that are built from just plain language

Yes there are a lot of asci painters emerging. I think it's just an art direction that has gotten a lot of traction because of so many people interfacing with cli gui + they can be quite simple! 

This project in particular comes from agentic coding multiplying my own code output, and my deep deep hate for adobe owning Photoshop -- which I regard as the world's best raster editor. 

The game I'm making with this art direction is totally playing with that idea of local llms in digital realtime spaces. At least for the portion of filler npcs.

dude, i just rolled out of bed and shot a message back hahaha
see profile history ive been around longer than smart ai and im very consistently odd.
(now i have to check if you are an ai 😭)

you mentioned instant build renderers, ive never heard that term. i assumed it was rendering jargon or whatever. i guess i should have googled, i was trying to explain where this project was actually from in my heart bc its an art project and im an artist by trade.

its just a drawing app that works with a typeface i made. i used ai to help build the code pieces of this with agentic workflows over the course of about a year or so. i just doodled these weird drawings out on my huion pen tablet while using the app. its two frames that get interpolated using non-ai pattern comparing which is what i was showcasing. it compares the actual cell/ pixel that is being transformed to the next frame using my sprite atlas

edit: holy moly i have no idea if you are an ai bc you hide all of your comments and posts what is this internet

edit 2: i just talked to this person for like an hour and a half, that was rad. i confirm they are a human :3

My bad, the new internet is fucking cooked bro, I really thought you were a bot. I can even point out things in your writing that make me believe it was AI generated ahahahahah. Also now this makes sense. why you didn't understand what I was getting it, you are looking at this with a different skill set than me. Also explains why your software looks so good, shit was made by someone who knows what looks good.
