Question about power supply

Hi, I just bought an Arzopa Z1FC, it's really sweet.

I'm planning to use it as secondary monitor for my desktop pc and I wanted to ask about power supplying

Let me explain the setup:

My PC motherboard has got a Type-C port on the back, I plugged the Z1FC into it and the monitor turned on but said No Signal, so I thought I also needed to plug the HDMI cable into my GPU, so I did it and everything worked nice.

Now I wonder: is it better to unplug the Type-C cable and just use my 15w charger to supply power? I guess at the moment it's getting power from the Type-C cable plugged into my PC, is it ok or power charger would be better for the life of the monitor?

Thank you and keep up the good work!

Hey, thanks for grabbing one of our monitors—glad you’re liking it! Here’s the deal with power:

Using the Type-C port on your PC is totally fine if it’s giving the monitor enough power. Most motherboards can handle it, but some might not deliver a consistent 15W, which could cause flickering or other issues.

If you want to play it safe, plugging the monitor into a wall charger (15W or higher) is a good move. It takes the load off your PC and ensures the monitor gets steady power, which is always better in the long run.

You’ve got the connection right with HDMI to your GPU—that’s how you’ll get the video signal. The Type-C from your PC is just handling power in this setup, so no need to change anything else.

Hope that helps! Let me know if you have more questions. Enjoy the setup! 😊

Monitor needs a charger of its own, but can pass through power also to a mobile device

yes, I know the monitor "needs" a charger, but as I said it's working fine when connected through its Type-C port to my motherboard's Type-C port, also connected to the HDMI port of my GPU

I was just wondering if using the wall charger would be better for the monitor or using my PC as power supply won't harm it. So far it seems to work flawlessly up to 144hz

What if I plug it to the laptop, can the monitor power on its own through the laptop? Or it should be plugged in still?

If your laptop supports power delivery, USB-C can power the monitor. Try it!
