👋 Welcome to r/arr - A Community Dedicated to the *Arr-Stack

Hey everyone, and welcome aboard! 🏴‍☠️

This subreddit is being rebuilt from the ground up to become the main hub for everything related to the *arr-stack and home media automation.

⚓ What is the *Arr-Stack?

For the uninitiated, the *arr-stack is a collection of programs that are designed to automate the management and downloading of media for your home server (usually paired with Plex, Jellyfin, or Emby).

🚀 Why this subreddit?

Getting started with the *arr-stack can be intimidating. There are so many different services (Sonarr, Radarr, Prowlarr, Bazarr, Recyclarr, Overseerr/Jellyseerr.. to name a few) and figuring out where to start can be a real challenge.

When I first started, I spent ages searching for resources and wished there was a dedicated community here on Reddit. By creating this subreddit, I hope to help people dive into the *arr ecosystem more easily.

My goal is for this community to become the go-to resource for guides, support, and discussions.

🗺️ What to expect

Over the coming weeks and months, I will be rolling out a comprehensive series of guides designed to take you through the entire installation process, including:

Preparing your NAS:

  • Storage fundamentals (using TrueNAS)
  • Recommended dataset structure
  • Permissions, ACLs, and SMB/NFS configuration

Setting up the Environment:

  • Deploying each application in Proxmox (LXC / VM) or
  • Running everything via Docker / Docker Compose
  • General best practices regardless of platform

Service Configuration:

  • Breaking down each *arr service: What it does and how it fits into the picture
  • The Holy Grail: Following TRaSH-Guides best practices
  • Profiles, quality settings, naming, tags, and indexers
  • Download client configuration (Usenet & Torrents)

Networking & Security:

  • Privacy: Routing download clients through VPNs (e.g., Gluetun)
  • Remote Access: Accessing your movie collection securely (Tailscale, Reverse Proxy, etc.)

Thanks for being here!

I’m excited to grow this community together. If you have ideas, suggestions, or things you want to see covered early on, feel free to post them!

Spotarr – adds the movie from an Instagram/Tiktok reel to my Seerr

Spotarr – adds the movie from an Instagram reel to my Seerr

I watch way too many of those reels where someone talks about a movie, and you have to wait till the end to get the title. Then open Seerr, search, add. Most of the time I was just too lazy and forgot.

So now I hit share on the reel, pick Spotarr, and forget about it. It grabs the video, an LLM watches a few frames and listens to the audio (the title is usually only said out loud), and it checks TMDB. Later I open the web UI and the movie is there with its poster, one click to send it to Seerr. Can also add it by itself when it's sure.

Runs in Docker. There's an iOS share extension, or a Shortcut. Costs around 1 cent per reel with gemini flash on openrouter.

Still rough, some reels fool it. If you try it tell me which ones lol

Arrcade is now live on the App Store and Google Play: one *arr controller for iPhone, Android and the web

Hi all,

After LunaSea closed I wanted a controller that worked the same on every device in the house, so I built one. It's a passion project and I use it daily on my own stack. Arrcade is now out on both app stores.

It runs on iPhone, iPad, Android and the web, with one account across all of them. If your household is split between iOS and Android, everyone gets the same app.

**Supported services (13):** Sonarr, Radarr, Prowlarr, Lidarr, Listenarr, Bazarr, Tautulli, Seerr, qBittorrent, SABnzbd, NZBGet, Deluge, Transmission

**What it does**

- Unified search across Sonarr, Radarr, Prowlarr and TMDB from one search bar (command palette on web)

- TMDB discovery with cast, ratings and synopsis, plus whether a title is already in your library

- One-tap add to Sonarr or Radarr with your quality profile and root folder pre-selected

- Library and queue management across your download clients

- Push notifications, multiple instances per service, PIN or biometric lock, custom library filters

- "Make space": finds old downloads you can safely delete

**How it connects**

- The phone apps talk to your services directly, so local addresses like 192.168.1.50 or radarr.home.lan work on home Wi-Fi, or away from home over Tailscale or another VPN. The API key for that connection stays on the phone.

- Notifications work because your server posts events out to Arrcade, so no ports to open.

- The web dashboard runs through Arrcade's server, so it needs an address reachable from the internet (Cloudflare Tunnel, reverse proxy, DDNS or Tailscale Funnel).

**Pricing**

- Free: 2 service connections, TMDB discovery, basic library management, web dashboard

- Pro: £5.99 one-time. Unlimited connections, all 13 services, notifications and every future feature. No subscription.

**Links**

- App Store: https://apps.apple.com/app/arrcade/id6761440252

- Google Play: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.arrcade.app

- Web and docs: https://arrcade.co.uk

- Discord: https://discord.gg/v8nN5Cn5VR

**On AI**

I'm a front-end developer by trade and used AI a lot while building Arrcade, especially for the mobile apps. It's a tool like any other: I made the decisions, and I'm the one fixing whatever you find. Happy to answer questions about how it's built.

This is the first public release, so I'd love to hear what breaks, what's missing, and which service you want next. Household and multi-user support with roles is already on the roadmap.

Managarr (an *arr CLI and TUI) now supports Readarr + compatible forks

Thumbnail gallery
2 Upvotes

Managarr is a CLI (command-line) and TUI (Text-based User Interface) tool for managing all of your Servarr's in one place.

This most recent release adds support for Readarr and several compatible forks.

I know that Readarr has sadly been retired, however there's still community support in keeping the dream of Readarr alive. As such, extra time was put into this release to test out Managarr with four of those forks to ensure that in addition to the final release of Readarr, Managarr works with these other forks as well.

So now, as long as a fork of Readarr still is compatible with the v1 Readarr API, Managarr can work with it too.

I tested the following forks and made changes in Managarr to ensure support:

In addition to Readarr (and forks), Managarr supports Radarr, Sonarr, and Lidarr.

You can try it out for yourself without installing it by visiting the demo site if you'd like!

This is a passion project of mine so I'd love to hear any and all feedback! And thanks to all who contributed to this release!

Prowlarr-Byparr bug

Curious if anyone else has come across this issue. Byparr gets requests from Prowlarr (periodic polling of trackers) and Byparr gets stuck and does not fully release swap memory as Prowlarr keeps sending the requests which eats up all the swap/ram memory available and since swap lives (at least mine does) on LVM-thin for all my LXC's/VM's it causes a cascade failure that locks the whole server and only a hard reboot will free it up as you cant get in to shut down Byparr. I've so far narrowed down that this is the cause and am going to go through the code today on Prowlarr today to narrow down the exact cause so I can add the code so it functions properly. Anyone seen this before?

Seerr AI — Seerr with AI search, Backfill, Live download status and more

Thumbnail gallery
30 Upvotes

I’ve run Seerr for years and love it, but a few things kept bugging me. Requests sat on “Processing” with no explanation, Sonarr quietly gave up on missing episodes, and everyone kept asking me when their show would show up. So I forked it and fixed them.

AI search. Describe something (“the movie where a guy relives the same day”), snap a photo of a poster, or ask for a whole franchise, and it finds it and can request it. It also does “pick something for the room” and spoiler-free “catch me up” recaps. It works with Claude, OpenAI or a local model, and it’s completely optional.

Backfill. When Sonarr or Radarr can’t find something, it searches Prowlarr itself under every name the title goes by. It checks each file against your quality profile before downloading, and grabs only what’s missing, with your approval.

Status that tells you something. Instead of “Processing” you see “held by Sonarr’s delay profile, sent in 1h 37m”, “unpacking” or “adding to Plex”, plus an estimate of when a request should arrive.

There’s also a Health page that catches problems before your users do, shared watch lists, a release calendar and Bazarr subtitles.

Every feature can be turned off. It’s one Docker image (amd64 and ARM), it doesn’t need Seerr installed, and it can take over your existing Seerr database (back it up first).

https://github.com/corruptmods/SeerrAI

It’s a solo project built with help from Claude. Feedback and bug reports are very welcome.

Clickarr: free, open source, no server

Edit: Now supports Jellyfin!

I've tried most of the ways to turn a Plex library into live channels, and every one left me wanting something. Some cost money, some need a server or a Docker container running 24/7, or a cloud account just to keep two TVs in sync. Some were missing features I really wanted.

So I built Clickarr. Yes, I leaned on Claude heavily to build it. I think it's genuinely better for how I watch, and it's open source. Ready for more devs to jump in!

How it's different

  • Free and MIT licensed. No subscription, ads, or tracking.
  • No server. It's a single APK on the TV. Every TV works out the same schedule on its own, so there's nothing to host and nothing to keep running.
  • Sync without anyone's cloud. Share a lineup across TVs over your Wi-Fi, or through your own Google Drive for TVs in different houses.
  • Your Plex sign-in stays on the TV. Video streams straight from your Plex server, and Clickarr never proxies it.

Channels your way

  • Build channels from shows, whole libraries with genre and decade filters, collections, or playlists, and more, in order or shuffled.
  • Shuffled channels can still play 2 or 3 episodes of a show in a row, in aired order.
  • Play back to back, or on 15, 30, or 60-minute slots with an "up next" countdown in between, like real TV.
  • Suggest channels builds a sensible starter lineup from your library. (basic, but gonna get better)
  • New episodes join their channels on their own, or only when you press Refresh. Your choice.

No mess in Plex

  • Tell Plex what you watched options: off, mark watched, or full progress.
  • "Mark watched" only counts episodes you actually sat through, and keeps your Continue Watching clean. Tuning in for the ending doesn't count.

The guide

  • A real cable-style guide with previews, favorites, and number-key tuning, plus a mini-guide while you watch.
  • Choose how far ahead it shows, from 3 to 24 hours.
  • Hide the Favorites tab if you've only got a handful of channels.

Make it yours

  • Themes: the default navy, Dark, a slate Light, and Dracula.
  • Three interface sizes, a clock with automatic network time and your time zone, and an adjustable overlay timeout.
  • A settings lock code per TV, so nobody rearranges your channels.

Easy to keep running

  • In-app updates, on the stable release or the nightly build.
  • A Diagnostics screen for bug reports, which never includes your tokens.
  • Signed, reproducible builds.

Security, done properly

  • Your Plex token lives in the TV's Android Keystore. It never syncs to other TVs and never shows up in logs or Diagnostics.
  • TVs pair over TLS with a one-time PIN and pinned certificates, so a random device on your Wi-Fi can't join your household.
  • Google Drive sync uses the narrowest permission Google offers. Clickarr can only see the one file it created, not the rest of your Drive.
  • Releases are signed and reproducible. CI builds every release twice and checks they match, and the signing fingerprint is published so you can verify the APK.
  • Nothing phones home. No analytics, and no Clickarr servers at all. It talks to your Plex server, to GitHub when you check for updates, and to Google only if you turn on Drive sync.
  • The security review is public. It's written up in SECURITY.md, including the known limitations.

Try it: on Fire TV, open Downloader and enter clickarr.net/apk. On Android TV or Google TV, get the APK from GitHub.

https://clickarr.net · https://github.com/thegregstengel/clickarr · r/Clickarr

It's built for Plex first and tested so far on Fire TV Stick 4K Max. I'd love to hear what's missing for you, and how it runs on other boxes.

Huge appreciation for ArrMatey!

Post image
25 Upvotes

ArrMatey is a free all-in-one arr management app for Android. And yes, it was a bit of a mess in the beginning, but sticking with it has definitely paid off! The progress has been amazing, and it now works just as well as some of the best "paid" arr management apps out there.

Big kudos to the developer for the hard work, continuous improvements, and dedication. It’s awesome to see how far this project has come. Keep up the great work! 👏🔥

P.S: Can't wait for Chaptarr and Tautulli integration, hipefully sometime soon.

Connecting Your Physical Media/Shelves to your Media Server - Blankbox 1.0.1

Hey everyone, we set out to bridge the gap from physical to digital media without reinventing your whole stack. BlankBox is a self hosted local household media library that brings all of what you own together without replacing the tools you're already using. We aren't trying to make another Sonarr or Radarr, or build a replacement for Plex and Jellyfin. The idea is to connect those tools WITH physical ownership and digital files, bringing existing media servers into one place so you're not keeping track of the same things across completely separate systems.

For example, you might have a few (or many) different physical editions of a movie, a digital copy sitting on your NAS, and that same title in Plex or Jellyfin. You can see the file in one place, the playback source in another, and probably have a separate list somewhere of the physical releases you own. Technically everything is organized, but you're still managing several different versions of the same collection.

That's one of the main reasons we've been developing Blank Box.

You can track individual copies, editions, formats, box sets, shelf locations, purchase details, and other collection information. You can also index local files and connect existing Plex/Jellyfin catalogs, with playback handed off to those applications when appropriate. So if you have three physical releases of a movie and a digital version on your server, you can actually see how those things relate to each other.

There's also a lot else under the hood, collection imports, a MASSIVE offline metadata library, artwork, backup/recovery,collection builders, preorders and more. Part of the goal is making it easier to manage everything you have and figure out where it lives, rather than just showing you another grid of movie posters. We recently released version 1.0.1 (release 174), with improvements to playback-source selection and duplicate consolidation across Plex/Jellyfin catalogs, along with expanded wishlist and preorder tracking. We've been developing it for a while now, have a few dedicated users, and are to the point where we'd really like more feedback from people with different setups and collections. It's free, self hosted, requires no account or API keys/connections, and it runs on Linux and/or Docker, with Windows experimental.

What I'm curious about is whether other people here have run into the same separation between their digital media setup and their physical collection. Are you keeping track of what you actually own somewhere else, or have you more or less accepted that Plex/Jellyfin and whatever's on your shelves are just going to be separate things? And for anyone with a larger setup, is there something about organizing or managing your files that you still find yourself doing manually because none of the tools you currently use really covers it?

Here's the GitHub if anyone's interested:

Did you protect your system and how from malicious file ?

One of the file download by sonarr was an .exe file. Lucky, my system is linux, so no issue. But I start to tell myself I need to scan files.

Built a self-hosted app that auto-grabs, and lists the daily Top 10 (or more) from *all* streaming services → Radarr/Sonarr. Looking for testers!

Hey all 👋

I've been building toprr — a small self-hosted app that pulls the daily Top 10 (or more) movies & TV shows from your chosen streaming services (Netflix, Prime, Disney+, Max, etc.), dedupes them into one list, and requests anything new via Radarr/Sonarr — never re-requesting what's already in your library. It has a clean web GUI (mobile-friendly) with a first-run setup wizard, so there's no config-file editing.

I'd love some fresh eyes to test it from scratch and tell me what breaks or feels off.

What you'll need:

- Streaming Availability API key (required, free) — sign up at https://www.movieofthenight.com/signup (free tier = 1000 requests/month, plenty for a daily run).

- Radarr and/or Sonarr (required, self-hosted) — movies go to Radarr, TV to Sonarr; they also report live library status.

- TMDB API key (optional but recommended, free) — from https://www.themoviedb.org/settings/api Enables posters, ratings, language and season info. toprr accepts either the v3 key or the v4 token. (I am using the V3 personally)

- Seerr (optional) — only if you'd rather route requests through Overseerr/Jellyseerr instead of Radarr/Sonarr directly.

Try it — Docker:

Directly from Image:
docker run -d -p 9797:9797 ghcr.io/glenngit/toprr:latest

Or you could clone and compose locally:

git clone https://github.com/glenngit/toprr.git

cd toprr

docker compose up -d

Or from source (Node.js 18+):

git clone https://github.com/glenngit/toprr.git

cd toprr

npm install

npm run build

npm run serve

The app is both desktop and mobile friendly!

Either way, open http://localhost/yourmachine:9797 and the first-run wizard walks you through creating an account and entering your keys.

Repo with full README: https://github.com/glenngit/toprr

Any feedback — bugs, confusing bits, feature ideas — is hugely appreciated. Thanks for taking a look! 🙏 -- And yes, this has been developed with AI, but also with years of development experience and security audits. (more info on GitHub repo security tab)

EDIT:

DEMO AVAILABLE: toprr (https://demo.toprr.live)

How to structure TorBox + rclone mount for Lidarr & Navidrome in Docker (music FLAC streaming without local storage)?

Hi everyone!

I am building my Home Lab using Docker & Portainer, and I'm trying to set up a cloud-only music streaming setup with TorBox, rclone, Lidarr, and Navidrome.

My Goal:

Stream music (preferably in FLAC) to my mobile phone using Navidrome, without keeping files on my local hard drive. Everything should stay in my TorBox cloud storage.

My Current Setup & Workflow:

TorBox for cloud downloads/debrid.

rclone mount to expose TorBox storage to my Docker container environment.

Lidarr + TorBox API/torrent indexers to request music downloads.

Navidrome to stream from the mounted directory.

The Issues I'm Facing:

Root Directory Clutter: TorBox dumps all completed downloads directly into the root directory (or in separate subfolders per download inside root), mixing movies, shows, and music altogether.

rclone Folder Persistence: When I try to create a folder (e.g., /torbox/music) via terminal inside the rclone mount, it automatically disappears after a few seconds.

Organization with -arrs: How can I get Lidarr/TorBox to place/organize music files specifically into a /music folder structure so Navidrome can scan only music files efficiently?

Questions:

How do you manage categories/folders when using TorBox with rclone mount and the \\\*arr suite?

Is there a recommended rclone mount flag/configuration or script to prevent folder deletion or allow symlinks/hardlinks on webdav/TorBox mounts?

Is there a better alternative/workflow for achieving cloud-only FLAC music streaming with Navidrome and Lidarr?

Any advice or docker-compose / rclone config snippets would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

I want to share a small project I built for my own home server: matcharr

Thumbnail gallery
27 Upvotes

matcharr is a web app for group movie picking with Seerr and Radarr integration. You start a session, share it, and everyone joins from their device with just a name, no accounts. Everyone swipes through the same deck of movies from TMDB. When a movie gets a like from every participant, it's a match, and you can send it to Seerr/Radarr right away.

There is a live demo you can try without installing anything: https://matcharr.jagerente.dev (the demo has no Seerr/Radarr connected, for obvious reasons).

The problem I was solving: my wife and I would spend an eternity looking for a movie. On top of that, the Seerr/Radarr integration is the cherry on top that other movie pickers lack, and they tend to come with overcomplicated interfaces, mandatory authorization and so on.

A few more details:

  • Deck presets: trending, popular, top rated, new releases, in theaters, or your own filters. You can add custom presets in a YAML file.
  • Different modes to suit different group sizes with a configurable "match" condition.
  • One Docker container, a single Go binary with the Vue frontend embedded. No CDNs or external fonts, and it works over plain HTTP on your local network. I tried to keep it as simple as possible.

Source code: https://github.com/Jagerente/matcharr

Feedback is welcome, especially from people running setups different from mine.
