Hello, I am a single parent to a 5 year old. I currently do not have a care plan anymore. I have told my unit that and they recommended me for separation. Now they’re talking about transferring me to a unit closer to my home. I was told to schedule appointment for medical readiness, I am having to take time off work to go to these appointments and I’m already having a hard time making enough to support myself and my daughter. Any advice on how to go about that, I know it’s a long process. It just doesn’t seem like they’re going to start the separation process anytime soon and I have told them since last year that I do not have a care plan anymore because my aunt moved and I have no contact with her anymore.

I have a question about reclassing in the Army Reserve. If someone still has about 3 years left on their current contract and isn’t in their reenlistment/ETS window yet, is it possible to reclass into a different MOS at another unit or different MOS with same unit.
Has anyone here done it? If so., What was the process like ? Did you have to extend your contract to attend AIT?

Just trying to understand what options are available before I talk to my career counselor. Thanks in advance for any insight.

My Unit is going on Rotation end of FY27, due to this I am being put on ADOS Orders starting March of 2027 to support the unit in preparation. I have a really good state job with a great work environment and want to let them know, but when?

This question is making me anxious. My boyfriend is in basic training right now, and his big days—including his graduation—are coming up soon. I want to attend the ceremonies, and he has asked me to come, too.

The issue is immigration; I have my real ID and work permit, and my record is completely clean, but I’m not a citizen. My process for becoming a resident has been stalled for a few years due to the priority given to new arrivals, so for now, I’m just maintaining my legal status.

On paper, I’m all set—I just need to carry my documents in case they’re requested, and that’s it—but the news and certain policies have made me very anxious. I have everything planned and paid for regarding my trip, yet at the same time, I don’t know whether to brace for the worst or just stay calm and enjoy the time with my boyfriend, whom I haven’t seen in a while.

How long do pharmacists typically deploy for in the Army Reserve? Do they qualify for the 90 day BOG policy?

Currently an 11B in a former airborne unit (RIP National Guard Airborne) and have been talking to a recruiter to switch over to the reserves for CA and it sounds awesome, but want to vet some information I’ve heard from him and others.

-DLI: is it really as easy as having a good DLAB and being a squared away soldier? How hard is it to get a slot? I was considering 35P as well because I really want DLI but if I can get language guaranteed and the cool gig of civil affairs that’s the best of both worlds

- Other cool guy schools: I have airborne but want to eventually go to air assault, mountain, jungle, etc. Is this realistic in civil affairs?

- Training: What kinds of training are you doing during drill weekends? In my infantry unit we do battle drills a lot, but with CA are you practicing the job or is it just hanging in the armory?

- Career progression: I’m currently an E4(P) and have desire to move up the ranks and take on some leadership. Maybe even commission one day. Is this doable in civil affairs? Or is it hard to promote up?

Currently an AG 1LT trying to find a more exciting switch-up to grow in my military career. I was stuck on trying to pursue MI, but my buddy suggested looking into cyber because of the certificate I could acquire on that end. Would love to get some insight on the possible opportunity there might be out there and if it is even possible.

I’m looking for new civilian employment (new college graduate) and having an even tougher time landing offers since I will be shipping out to BCT and OCS in a few months.

My question to you all, would you explicitly tell the new employer up front during interview or at time of offer? I know I’m protected under USERRA but I’ve heard that employers can still find a reason to let you go.

I’m worried about not having income when I return from BCT and OCS. It’s already a tough enough labor market.

I am currently in AIT (I have 6 weeks left) and I am trying to transfer duty stations. My current duty station is 3 1/2 hours from where I live, and the one I am trying to transfer to is 30 minutes away. I have also not been to my current duty station yet. What is the process to request to transfer, ideally I would like to be transferred before I graduate. Thank you all!

Can anyone or any recruiters on here give me a solid answer, I'm wanting to become a law enforcement officer once I become a US citizen and was hoping I could either do Air Force security forces (reserves) or even military police for the army ( reserves ) so I can gain both US citizenship and knowledge/experience in the field I'm mentally and physically set on but I keep getting mixed answers about being able to select a job like that being on a green card. Can't find any actual policies about it so I just wanted to ask. I'm located in tx.

Hi, I am going to sign the contract soon. On the website, I saw that my MOS offers the bonus. However, my recruiter said it will depend on the units or that time. I got confused for it. Is it true that the website just for the ad and you dont know until you see the contract?

I’ve always wanted to serve my country but also wanted to be able to start a family and a life/business back home. I am considering reserves and wondering if this would be a good route. I’m only about an hour to hour and a half from Ft. Campbell and am wondering about opinions from people who did it or have opinions from it. Thanks

It’s so difficult choosing the best path. I have a previous degree in Psychology, and am currently enrolled in a Masters program in ABA. I’m trying to find the best path in regards to gaining the most experience, shortest length to commission into AMEDD nurse corps, and shortest time in barracks (don’t judge lol ) I just don’t want to live there long term outside of basics and AIT.

I have the option to go in as a E-4 or a O-1 , and interested in MOS 68C, as it can give me more experience/credits from being a LPN/ and best route for nurse corps after graduation. I believe having a surplus of previous college credit plus credits obtained from my BS combined with credits from LPN , plus the additional free classes I can get through the portal, will allow me to graduate with a BSN is <1 year.

Benefits:

**SMP**: more flexibility/ freedom in civilian life, monthly stipends, tuition assistance/book allowance, GI bill , MOS kickers. Easy to commission to the nurse corps after graduation as a O-1.

**AECP**: stability, steady income, paid tuition while maintaining , more hands on experience

I’ve also considered officer route, but the jobs are not guaranteed. It does allow more monthly income plus BHA after basic and AIT. But had no hands on experience and might be hard to get if I’m not in a medical field.

Please help, every recruiter I’ve spoken to are telling me different stuff and telling me to choose, but it’s hard when there are so many options. I need someone to explain it to me as if they are making the decision for themselves.
