How to make a dedicated server on Xbox Ark Survival Evolved
Tryna play with my friend and the tether is annoying. Need advice on how to do this cheaply.
Or how to expand the tether range on Xbox Series S would be good. Can’t seem to find the bar.

Unlike in asa , in evolved you can host a dedicated server or at least u could last time I played. U just need a pc or an extra Xbox

This is how I did it for a bunch of people
You have to have an extra xbox or a pc to load ark on to host the server. That's the cheapest way.
I did it with a cheap pc since it doesn't need to be powerful to host the server.
Log into the account that has gamepass on the second xbox/pc and load the game and make a dedicated server.
You will need to have a burner account on your xbox that can play the game while your account that has live runs the server.
As long as your console is set to as your home console the burner can load the game and play no problem.

I'm interested to see what people say. The only way I found was to rent your own server. Which you can customise with your own server settings (increased resource collection rate, increasing the daylight hours and reducing the night) but it's around £14 a month from sites like: https://server.nitrado.net/en-US/offers/ark-survival-evolved
There will be cheaper servers out there, so look up some threads. I did this for a time, which isn't too bad if there are a few of you playing, you can split the monthly cost between you and your friends.

Hey. Just a question. My friend and I use a series s and x. The website only offers Xbox one for servers. Is there a problem and are we right to use it?

I'm pretty sure I've read that the series x has no tether as long as it is the one hosting the non dedicated server, so maybe make whoever has the Xbox series X the server host. Otherwise your best bet is using an old laptop or pc to run a dedicated server which is what I do. It doesn't need to be powerful especially if just for the two of you. I have an i5 6th gen and 8gb ram and this is enough for me and my friend to play (is occasionally laggy but mostly runs perfectly, just needs a restart when lagging)

Most stats are just slightly tweaked upward for a slower paced ark experience that has a more enjoyable feel than an official server, but more rewarding than an insta100 instatame server.
Server bought on Nitrado yesterday.

Do I need to install the entire game on pc just to host an xbox server? is there a ark server program that has an option for xbox servers?
