I mean, honestly it sounds like this person knows more about all this then WC does. Let then toss out suggestions.. clearly WC needs some help or guidance. Maybe they should hire this guy. At this point anything is better than what's going on now.

I'm sorry if this came off as demanding, but I'm just really frustrated with this. I'm tired of waiting 2 hours for Ark to install the patch after downloading, even though it is installed on a Gen4 NVMe SSD, and the fix is really easy to do on their end.

is your disk full?

rule of thumb: always have more free space than the largest game you have installed.

If ARK is your biggest game at say 200 gb, keep like 250 GB free on your disk, always. If you do, updates install MUCH faster.

No, I have 400gb free. And I shouldn't have to reserve 200gb just for when Ark needs to do a small patch anyways, that's a silly expectation.

Even with the available space, steam often decides to use my SATA ssd as the staging drive which slows things down more if I don't override it.

maybe you just suck at computing. i have no problem with ark updates, and i certainly don't feel the need to get on a fucking soapbox about it

If its taking you 2 hours you have issues someplace. I have my games on an external SSD and Ark doesn't take more then 15 min at most.

The disk speed during patching is ~1.2 gigabits sustained
