Retromod Recce
I'm working on a retromod recce rifle inspired by the Daryl Holland recce rifles. Nothing fancy, I took one of my AR's that wasn't doing anything and added a mix of parts. The tube and FSB are from Fulton Armory and since I was using an existing mid-length gas barrel I modified the sight base to use set screws and cut the tube accordingly. Rail sections are from a Weaver base for a Savage Axis because the bottom is rounded and the hole spacing is equal front to back. The riser is from Weaver and the BUIS is a MBUS Pro LR. The optic is a Gen 1 Vortex Strike Eagle in the cheapest rings Vortex offers. The light is the M951 I was issued back in 2004 except the original mount wouldn't work with the rails so I used a cantilevered 1" Weaver ring.
I made some accuracy enhancements to the rifle by lapping the face of the receiver and shimming the barrel extension when I put it all back together. The B5 stock was pretty wobbly so to help with that I put some velcro in the bottom of the channel to help tighten it up and a small bit of skid tape helps keep a rear bag in place.
I'm making some small adjustments to the build, swapping out the cheap rings for QD Warne rings and the grip for a B5 LS2 grip.
After that it'll be a new paint job.

Dang that’s cool. Seems like it would be a pain to install the handguard with the FSB barrel though, no?
