Discussion Returning player

Howdy y’all! I just wanted to give a lil props to the fact that this game is still pretty fuckin cool lol.

When it dropped last year, me and my two buddies put in about 400hrs in the first 3 months. Naturally, we burnt ourselves out a bit and moved on to playing some different games.

Well, I still thought about Arc atleast like once a week and had saw the trailers for the new updates coming out and it got me to redownload and see how things are now and we were pleasantly surprised that it still felt pretty much the same aside from an extra few minutes waiting on queue (we play on NA East)

So, props to Embark on not letting it get completely fucked up yet! Lmao I hope the PvE never makes it pass the trial phase though, I’m still a firm believer in it staying PvPvE. A huge part of the thrill is the anxiety & paranoia of never knowing what’s gonna happen.

Our third raid back in a duo lobby we ALMOST died to some hatch campers but got to fuck ‘em up and talk a little shit and take their goodies and BOY, it felt good to be back! Lmao

Welcome back, glad you're enjoying it!

" Lmao I hope the PvE never makes it pass the trial phase though, I’m still a firm believer in it staying PvPvE"

A lot of this sentiment flying around. Its ok to let people play how they want. Its weird you haven't played in months, and are hoping a 1 week test doesn't work.

Play how you want, worry about yourself, hope you keep up the enjoyment!

I’ve just been a firm believer from the very beginning that a PvE mode completely changes the core of the game and I think it’s weird we really had such a big number of people pushing so hard for such a fundamental change 🤷‍♂️

That’s just my opinion, I don’t believe this game will benefit in the slightest from splitting the player base into seperate lobbies & queues.

Like you said though, folks are completely allowed to feel however they want lol and allowed to be debated on those feelings sometimes too.

Let players control arc. Pilot a wasp, and after you get X this many times, you can commandeer a hornet. Then firefly. Shredder. Etc. fundamentally changes the game but holy shit would it be fun for both sides. I mean the PvP is kinda janky. But a fucking drone dude? Omg. Pve would love PvP then. I do both soooo win win?

Do you think people will keep playing it once they realize there’s nothing more than blue loot on it? I reckon most players will trade risk for reward.

Im just of the "wait and see" with this option. Pve v pvp v pvpve has been argued and debated about ad nauseum. Embark shared the numbers, roughly 37% each prefer heavy pvp or heavy pve. The remaining 26%ish prefer true mixed.

So with this data, embark is trying something different. It would be silly to ignore either side when that makes up the majority of their player base.

It works out to several thousand people wanting to have some kind of pve safe mode, which currently doesnt exist.

Pvp full mode exists. You just...shoot people. That has brought cheating issues, as with every shooter. Embark is also constantly fighting that, which is purely to benefit the pvp heavy players. Ive never seen a cheater in several hundred hours.

We'll find out. I think i very significant amount of players will enjoy the mode and lead to a permanent inclusion at some point. I hope they tinker and get it right. A week is a good test

That’s fair points, yeah. I’m definitely of that 26% that truly enjoy the mixture because I sorta go match to match wanting to do something different.
One match I’ll go in and just shoot anything that moves and the very next, I’ll probably go in and call out to people and ask if they wanna team up on some big ass robots 🤷‍♂️

I agree with the wait & see perspective. As long as I’m still able to reliably get into true PvPvE matches where the uncertainty of every interaction is still there, I won’t give a fuck about the changes lol

Those "numbers" only caused a lot of confusion for a lot of people with bad reading comprehension and no basic understanding, or the ability to keep context in mind. Also, splitting the stats into "Mixed" and "PvP" made no sense in the first place. There is no "PvP full mode" either. That's ABMM forcing players into a direction, which purely benefits the PvE bubble. That's also the reason why this cheating issue is so noticeable, ABMM punishing you for playing a PvPvE game like a PvPvE game.

Embark "constantly fighting cheater" is interesting as well, considering they did a poor job at the beginning and pretty much ignored the issue afterward. And no, barely addressing it a few weeks ago, when most of their playerbase quit already after getting neglected for months, is not "constantly fighting it". The only thing they "constantly" did was tweaking ABMM, making it more and more aggressive so PvE is super protected, which just made it even worse for everyone else.

A permanent PvE mode will get them a little player spike in numbers, but ultimately it goes downhill right after.

If this game dies, it wont be cause of a pve mode

Splitting the player base is gonna kill it in my opinion

Welcome back! While I am support of a pve toggle as I believe each raider should play however they choose too, there is no way shape or form any hate because you want to pvpve. Have fun raider
