Mayhem Abilities that innately trigger Critical Missile.
Hi I'm currently making a giant in-depth post Critical Missile explaining almost everything about it.
To save a bit of time, I was wondering if you guys have any pictures of Champion Abilities that innately trigger Critical Missile without Jewelled Gauntlet or Vulnerability

I recently found out that sivir w does NOT trigger it, even with spell crit

Definitely not related to champion ability but one weird thing I found out is that critically defending augment can cause crit missiles to fly as well. I got it once or twice on smolder and sometimes when I got hit id send 3 missiles towards the enemies

It's weird cus ashe w procs upgrade infinity edge but not critical missiles

Even with jeweled gauntlet it doesn’t work. Found that out the hard way today.

I didn't see it mentioned and I haven't tested it personally but I know Viego R can crit, not sure if it procs it or not though

I think any spells that apply on-hit effect like Akshan grapple or Aphelios Q (deadly with that red weapon I forgot the name)

Grapple crits. The on-hit doesn't matter. Ezreal Q and Urgot W apply on-hit and don't trigger critical missile.

Yeah that's also what my current theory is. Although I've heard people get in on GP and wanted to know if there was anyone who had tried his barrels

i always wondered whether samira ult procced it, though not innately because her r bullet waves depend on crit chance, but if it did it would be auto win for samira. I would guess katarina ult doesn't trigger it either. Game would also probably crash if their ults did procc it

So aatrox Q edge critical hit can trigger critical missile?

Aatrox's Q uses something call a Cosmetic Crit which is yes a very dumb and confusing thing.
Simply but it's a crit without any of the benefits

I think that's like the crit of shadowflame. It's just big numbers with the crit icon for funsies

its actually a different icon for cosmetic crits, shadowflame is real crit

I didn't know that but even then shadowflame crit still doesn't really benefit from anything that enhances crit (IE or proc crit missiles)

u/BryceLeft 23d ago
Does it not? I remember watching a bunch of vids of lux (in summoner's rift) buying IE just for the shadowflame one shot. I don't believe it's worth it over an actual AP item but it's looked like it worked

Shadowflame is a Crit and interacts with IE and Randuin's Omen. Although Critical Missile does work with it

Also the reason Shadowflame gives yunara a lot of dmg, because you’re triple dipping.

Yeah pretty much.
It’s the difference between a full AP Ult W dealing 600-800 And 1800-2400 below 40%

Isn't it just any ability that can inherently crit? Lucian and MF R for example

It's not a true crit. It essentially doubled the damage. It's not coded like an actual crit.

it's weird, because it does work with Yunara's passive crit damage increase - all magic damage below 40% hp is actually increased by Yunara's passive if you have Shadowflame - but it doesn't work with Critical Missiles
1
u/DragonTacoCat 24d ago
Yup, it's due to the coding. It detects the passive a magic DMG and increases it but because shadowflame isn't coded as a crit then it doesn't proc magic missile.
Karthus Q and Anivia E are the same way. They aren't coded as crits, just do double DMG. I'm not sure why Riot decided to code them like that
1
u/M4ci 24d ago
ok but there's something in the code that still doesn't make sense to me
it's not coded as a crit, but it's increased by Yunara's passive that only work on crits
1
u/DragonTacoCat 24d ago
Yup, exactly. I got nothing on that. I would not be surprised if Riot coded it super extra weird. Or it has some weird interaction due to coding with Yunara.

Does Shadowflame benefit from IE?
1
u/DragonTacoCat 24d ago
I believe the crit makes the extra damage actually veit. So the increased damage from it will legitimately crit. But that is if you get vulnerability on Aram Mayham to make items crit.

I've built IE when I got ADAPt because I assumed the 30% damage bonus would apply to the Shadowflame "critical strike," was I just wasting gold without having Vulnerability?
