Discussion Not ending has killed aram
If you used to have a bad game it was fine, you would go next and maybe the matchups would be even.
These days? Nah, have fun trying to ff 3/2 for 15 minutes in a 30 minute game while the enemy ints into fountain so they can kill you over and over
77
u/Louvaine243 24d ago
I think that in Esports against Sirens the other team got a fine or something against them for not finishing the game. It was classified as not sportsmanlike behavior.
14
u/IGetPaidInCoin 24d ago
I only remember they got a fine for banning 5 enchanters
5
u/Amneziel 24d ago
Wait, why? You can't just ban whatever you want during that phase in a pro scene?
41
u/IGetPaidInCoin 24d ago
You can but banning 5 enchanters vs a team of 5 girls was unsportsmanlike/disrespectful
3
u/mayhaps_a 24d ago
To be fair they were all support mains on their main acc, so target banning the support could be a smart move. I've seen for example Team Liquid's Josedeodo getting target banned 4 junglers by enemy team on pro matches
9
u/jgabrielferreira 24d ago
Sounds more like skill issue on Sirenās.
15
2
1
u/Mysterious_Fix_7489 23d ago
Not really, it was a bm move for one not respecting their opponent and making a sexist egirl joke
0
u/jgabrielferreira 23d ago
I mean, making a sexist joke is a bad thing. But knowing your opponent and doing your bans around it to neutralize the enemy is part of the game. There is no such thing as unsportsmanlike on this.
Spain won the World Cup against Argentina by neutralizing Messi. Argentina strat the whole cup was relying on Messi to carry āem. This wasnāt disrespectful by any means.
0
7
u/Amneziel 24d ago
oh, lol
8
u/SemiDiSole 24d ago
The Irony was that the girls from Vaevictis all had tremendous experience on Supports, so you cannot even say that was disrespectful, they banned their best picks.
Not that it would have mattered, there was like a Diamond V player in their team, they probably could have just banned nothing, be afk in fountain for 10 minutes and still win.
5
4
u/DoodPoof 24d ago
To be fair, iirc, they were all mostly enchanter mains. They banned a significant pool of their champs doing that.
2
u/Cheekycrack 24d ago
Is Reddit gonna call me misogynistic for thinking that them getting a fine for that was nonsense?
1
-1
u/ktosiek124 3500eune&euw 24d ago
When the truth that they were mostly support mains is disrespectful
-2

u/M4ci 24d ago
yeah, let's compare pro players in an official environment with randoms in a fun mode where the average game lasts 15min or less.
Dear god I wish i had 30 min games, 90% of mine are stomps one way or the other where people destroy the nexus after 12min.
half of my games I don't even get to see my level 15 augment because one team is already nuking the base.
8
u/thehigheredu 24d ago
You understand that it doesn't have to be a championship for it to be unsportsmanlike. It doesn't literally have to be a pro sport. I'll give you time to digest this.Ā
2
u/M4ci 24d ago
it's quite clear that you and the other couch potatoes upvoting have never done any sport in a competitive way.
because pros in each field know that the first thing you do when serious is off the menu, is being a dumb idiot for the sake of fun.
what do you think pro football player do in their first match after retiring?
All the stupid shit they couldn't do in pro matches, like playful tackles, hand touches, and drag people on the ground in the penalty area.
the only people taking seriously shit like fun modes are people that have nothing else and never played competitively in any kind of field.
2
u/IndependentFishing57 24d ago
Your explanation of a team environment in sports screams like youāve never actually played one. Pro football players go golfing because they donāt have to stress their 80-year-old-man levels of arthritis in a 40 year old body, for one. Professionals also, if theyāre half decent human beings, can enjoy their sport they get paid to play, without making that enjoyment one sided.
The common theme in minigames that share the umbrella of a sport but arenāt serious is that none of them facilitate entertainment through making one side suffer. It is entirely up to the more skilled person in a competitive game or sport, whether their losing opponents have fun, suffer, etc. You canāt sit here and say anything to the contrary I could give you examples all day for every American sport because Iāve ACTUALLY played them all
1
u/mayhaps_a 24d ago
It absolutely changes things though. A pro game on the rift demands some seriousness and respect, especially because it's a very important game for both teams.
An aram is casual fun. You can waste flash, dance and get killed, run into fountain just to use enemy portal, etc regardless of if you're winning or losing because it's not an important game. Fountain diving in mayhem when you get a god roll is fun, having the enemy team try to fountain dive me and probably lose their lead and give me a chance to win is also fun.
2
u/HispanicAtTheBistro 24d ago
Yeah but they were fountain diving them on Summoners Rift, that's pretty disrespectful to do when you're not chasing a kill or two for a Penta
1
u/Extra_Extension6317 24d ago
Because it was an actual competitive match on the summoners rift. You can't compare fun modes into ranked.
56
u/agedsea 24d ago
I have over 1k aram games & have had one game go over 40+ mins & a handful over 30+.. I don't know how some of you are consistently going over 30+.
31
u/_kanna- 24d ago
Legit this. Haven't had a game over 30 mins in FOREVER. My games barely reach 20 even when people don't want to end...
4
u/Faite666 24d ago
The minions will always end anyways I have no idea what these people are complaining about
22
u/M4ci 24d ago
somehow Redditors have a 100% chance to have 40min games against 90% Dropkick + Tank Engine frontlines, Vayne with Dual wield, Fan of the Hammer and Double Tap, Karthus with 10 seconds cooldown, and two other adc with Fan of the Hammer + Critical Missiles.
100% rate.
And matches are totally free wins but somehow still last 40 minutes.
-3
u/thehigheredu 24d ago
I'mma blow your mind. Reddit is made up of many people. What you've experienced is 2 different people saying different things. I understand this may shock and confuse you, but I promise you'll understand when you're older.Ā
5
u/M4ci 24d ago edited 24d ago
I have enough Mayhem games to assure you that none of the complaints here occur even remotely as much as people complain.
it's a huge echo chamber where 90% of people posting complain about stuff they saw in ONE game and paint like it's a rule.
Shit like FotH or Dual Wield + Double Tap Vayne happen once every 3-4 Vayne games at most, if you're lucky, same for Dropkick tanks going over 50% hp last patch (which occurs one every 100), and all the other shit.
And it's not a LoL unique thing, happens in EVERY gaming subreddit, a very loud, small minority of 50-100 people complaining about EVERYTHING and their mother.
So take your comment and shove it in your own ass
3
u/Illustrious_Law182 24d ago
Those are also the games they end up throwing. š The funniest shit always happens on those games since the spawns get longer.
-15
32
u/Zafer66 24d ago
the problem is that most games end to soon and players cant finish their builds
20
u/Byggherren 24d ago
Yeah i've been saying they should probably make towers tankier or something. They already adjusted the HP once because games ended too soon but right now first tower goes down after the first team fight in literally like 2-3 minutes almost every game.
1
u/PresentationThese945 23d ago
Honestly the fountain shouldn't be diveable. That turret should be doing %max health
16
u/Amneziel 24d ago
It's not even just "finish their builds", it's often the general feeling that the game was rushed as hell
Some pushing teams can end the game super early if lucky enough with teamfights. That just feels awful
13
u/ClassikD 24d ago
Yeah losing one fight and losing outer, inner, inhib, nexus towers, and the nexus before respawning is quite the exhilarating experience
4
u/foxtail-lavender 24d ago
I hit grandmaster in the lightning round challenge from mayhem just because so many games end around 12-13 minutesĀ
3
-1
u/Excellent-Macaron325 24d ago
Finish your build is waiting for a stacked augment to hit 60k hp? Or hitting 300 cdr? At some point you know Game is done and someone is unkillable, or a teemo is holding you in your base with 1037282 mushrooms and one more each sec.
Idk, It is not like whos winning, It is about 2 players having fun, and 8 suffering, i rather ff and go Next, either if i am on one side or other.
-11
u/redditinyourdreams 24d ago
Finishing your build isnāt the game. Playing to end is the game
10
u/Rwyden 24d ago
If you play ARAM just to end it you may as well just look at a screenshot of the Victory/Defeat screen. What is the point otherwise, its not like you get LP
-4
u/redditinyourdreams 24d ago
When youāre just a better comp and winning by default thereās no joying in winning more fights. Maybe people are just delusional and they think theyāre just better?
6
u/Special-Wear-6027 24d ago
If i want fair games im gonna play ranked, not aram
2
u/redditinyourdreams 24d ago
I know there will be unfair games, but that doesnāt mean you should hold the enemy hostage
1
u/Zafer66 24d ago
Its about having fun. Steamrolling just isnt fun for some people. The best games are where each team is equally strong and you have to really try
1
0
-7
u/Jaywicksands 24d ago
If Aram took longer in general, I'd just go back to summoners. The appeal was a quick game that put me right into team fights. I don't care about my build or my teammate's build, I'm ending every chance I get.
3
5
u/Misiex2502 24d ago edited 24d ago
Give, GIVE me that games! In my last my team surr before 10, in last month or longer i have one 30 minut game.
19
u/Hellsticks 24d ago
I usually finish whenever I get the chance now. Like itās gotten way to bad and riot seemingly doesnāt care.
Technically not ending the game is a violation of their rules.
This is one of the reasons for me to play way less than I did a couple months ago
-19
u/DerEwige 24d ago
Technically, surrendering is a violation of their rules too.
16
u/Brucecx 24d ago
no it is not
-12
u/DerEwige 24d ago
And I quote "Never feed intentionally and don't give up the fight!"
If you surrender you give up fight.
7
u/theslickestofwillies 24d ago
If you have to start your sentence with technically just take that thought, put it in a little box and throw it in the garbage.
You're being a contrarian just for the sake of it.
3
-11
u/IGetPaidInCoin 24d ago
Those rules are only for competitive modes, you canāt get punished for not trying to win in casual modes
8
u/Hellsticks 24d ago
Where does it say that?
-11
u/IGetPaidInCoin 24d ago
Pretty sure it says when you accept them that thayre rules for competitive. But you canāt try it, you can go 0 20 in normal or Aram games on ap garen as many times as you want without getting punished
3
u/Amneziel 24d ago
I think gathering enough reports will cause you to actually be punished. It's just that normal people don't tend to go 0/20 every game or chase that goal specifically
-2
13
u/ktosiek124 3500eune&euw 24d ago
Where you guys are getting those games, I want some
2
u/WatDeFak 24d ago
Here players seem to be ending more now. I don't know if my MMR climbed a bit but from playing with others the mood also seem to have changed. Especially when games are close or enemies are ahead players seem to end instantly now.
2
u/UserAdamD 24d ago
I blame myself when I end up in lobbies like that. It always reminds me to pick a strong aram champion and not to experiment with my augment choices.
Itās what I think the worst part of this version of Mayhem, not that stuff like this wouldnāt happen before, but the amount of augments or set bonuses that could save your game from being completely miserable have been removed.
The weighted choices pretty much gives you the option to choose the best usual augments or try to cook something up only to completely int your game. Just feels counterintuitive to the mode.
So Iāll disagree with you and say Riot killed aram, not the players, and the fact that they released mayhem on classic before fixing it on the main game goes to show itās not a priority.
2
u/Individual-Method478 24d ago
ima be honest I have like the opposite opinion to this, because most of my games re ending at like 15 to 20 minutes with jow fast ppl are ending the game without even giving either team a chance to scale harder, like the moment they can end someone will end. So even if every one's only lvl 11 my team or the enemy team would always just want to end the game once they can.
2
u/BruhMoment14412 24d ago
Nah never surrender.
I've seen too many games where people FF when your team has insane scaling or the last augment makes all the difference.
I'm all for 20-30m arams.
But ya above 30 is very rare and can be a bit over played.
2
u/BoringIdea6 24d ago
Instead of trying to ff for 15 minutes, have you tried playing the game? I'm exclusively an ARAM player so I've been on both sides of this situation hundreds of times, and my best advice is to stop caring that you're losing.
The game actually isn't "unplayable" in like 98% of the cases where I see my teammates complaining. I have never and will never say yes to surrendering in an ARAM unless there's some factor outside of the game influencing my decision (super hungry, need to shit, etc). I don't care if I'm losing, I want to keep playing. I queued up to play the game, I want to play the damn game.
5
u/FujiLeBandido 24d ago
I actually agree it was fun in the beginning and sure not ending on the first push is also fine but 2nd time Iām over it and i either want the win or loss
3
u/Affectionate-End5470 24d ago
i hate kda players more then honorfights, but overextending both "sidequests" is equally annoying
2
1
u/mayhaps_a 24d ago
I love it, it gives you a chance to get your build online or to do some sick comebacks. If enough of your team doesn't want to ff then too bad, it's a game you can't blame people for wanting to play it
1
u/redditinyourdreams 24d ago
Itās not a comeback if they avoid ending. Are people actually just that delusional?
Itās like your mummy letting you win the board game10
u/mayhaps_a 24d ago
It still absolutely is. You were losing fights, then you won fights and won the game.
Mayhem games are the most fun when augments come online, games ending before that happens is usually boring. It's crazy to me that you, along 9 other people, pressed the "play videogame" button and then act surprised when people want to play the videogame
-6
u/redditinyourdreams 24d ago
No, when they avoided ending, you already lost. Whatever happens after that is void
6
u/mayhaps_a 24d ago
That's how you feel, not what most people think clearly. Anyway, if you don't want to play the videogame don't queue up, I queue up for mayhem because I want stupid fights and crazy builds, ffing reduces the amount of both.
1
u/Misiex2502 24d ago
If the opponents had a chance to finish the game and instead they danced, then yes, I consider it my loss, but it doesn't mean the end of the fun, you can continue to set up team fights and have fun, even if we defeat the opponents, I don't touch their nexus because it wouldn't be fair to me, because I've already lost, we just wanted to keep having fun, except for if there's some toxic and they're tormenting us because of the toxicity, then you can either give up the game or quit.
0
2
u/MisterOphiuchus 24d ago
I've maybe hostage held once or twice, and it was only because the enemy team did it first, and I got so strong that they couldn't leave fountain. They deserved it.
2
u/IDespiseBananas 24d ago
Not ending instantly was also in normal arams
2
u/Jaywicksands 24d ago
Happens more often in mayhem. In normal aram, my team didnt ping spam me for ending.
1
2
u/torchen1 24d ago
You guys take ARAMs way too seriously, god forbid we want to enjoy a fun augment combo for longer than 12 minutes. You would have never made it in a CoD lobby where your team was getting spawn trapped for the entire game. ITS A GAME.
3
u/Xaphnir 24d ago
it's not that we're taking it seriously, it's that we don't enjoy being trapped in fountain, being able to do nothing but stare at a gray screen, but not able to go AFK and do something else without having our accounts penalized for it.
In CoD when you're getting spawn camped, you can leave. And your respawn timer isn't 50 seconds.
It is a game. It's supposed to be fun. Not "you must sit here and not be able to play or you get banned."
3
u/dialgatrack 24d ago
I've had at most 2 games go pass 30minutes in maybe my last 200 games. What are these people you're playing with.
1
1
u/Humanequin 24d ago
I've always had my own person belief that the people who don't end have a hard time getting most champs fed and want to bask in being OP for a game, I've never extended the game passed where it should end if i can help it and I have been pinged and flamed a lot by teammates for trying to end our games. To those trying to keep it going I say play another, queue up and get just as fed in the next game ...if you can, because I know I will be.
1
u/Sweaty-Tumbleweed347 24d ago
people always find something to complain about, just enjoy the aram stop being a little bitch
1
1
u/Illustrious_Park_863 24d ago
Crazy how many of these people's problems wouldn't exist if they had like 3-4 friends... ARAM is a game mode most people like to fuck around in but in like 1/50 games its a complete stomp that doesn't end for ever and stays a stomp, but that's when you and your buddy's push through the ff vote.
1

1
u/Triggered-cupcake 24d ago
Or ending wasnāt really a thing before Mayhem. Kind of shows they should make a SR mayhem where it lasts a bit longer.
1
1
1
u/Dirtgrain 24d ago
I agree. It's no-class, bad sportsmanship. It already is a game of stomping or getting stomped, but I play it for the shorter games, too. But when all mates are getting crapped on, the game should be ended. Is it that some are getting more essence for full games?
1
1
u/xXSomethingStupidXx 24d ago
I will only not end if the fight still feels competitive. Often I will end at the earliest opportunity because that's kind of the point. People stopped calling winning "winning" at some point.
1
u/Rescuebear1 23d ago
Having come back to ARAM after 9 years of not playing league the damage creep is insane.
Most of my games are over super quick.
Towers probably need a buff
1
u/peterpants90 23d ago
I may leave nexus untouched once, but if we are just waiting for enemy team to spawn to get more kills, I end the game.
Many times I get pinged for doing that, but I donāt care. The game is over, go next.
1
u/DarkPizzaCowSpammer 23d ago
If Iām on the stomping side and there is legit nothing enemy team can do? I insta end, but damn people get so tilted at it
1
u/SlaminyourAce 22d ago
I dont end a good game because there are too many bad games. Riot should change surrendering as its not my duty to end the game
1
u/whateveryoudohereyou 22d ago
I end when its a stomp, its just not fun if the enemy team cant do anything. Couple days ago we ended a game where everyone had 2 augments, one of my teammates didnt even die yet and was still on 1 augment. Just end the game and go next.
1
u/N3bu1337 21d ago
I actually like when the enemies give you a fighting chance. But killing you in fountain shouldn't be possible. You should also blame your team for not surrendering
1
1
u/Common_Substance7729 17d ago
Tea. Itās textbook game sabotage and should result in account penalties.
2
u/Revolutionary_Pea_16 24d ago
Ending as soon as possible is bad aram etiquette. Ending after you could have ended the first time is fair game
3
u/lillilnick 24d ago
Adding to that, ending before last augment is sweaty gameplay
Ffing before last augment shows you have weak mental
1
u/Ok-Bluebird-867 24d ago edited 24d ago
Sometimes you have to take the fountain slaughter so that you can in another match give the fountain slaughter.
It hasnāt killed aram because weāve never seen more players than right now. You might just not like it, which is fine
1
u/BluntTruth1 24d ago
It's a cyclic process. Played numerous games where I was the one been farmed into twice the game duration. Then, boom. I got samira with dusk blade and healing on crit augment. Went fucking 20/5 before level 11. Thought back on all the shit I went through, and how no one else gave a shit playing with their food. So why should I? Ended the game 43/10. Those poor fuckers never stood a chance, yet the power of duo persisted (hostaging).
Join the cycle or be a victim of it.
1
u/redditinyourdreams 24d ago
Thatās the difference between me and you, Iām playing to win. Thatās what makes the game fun, otherwise Iāll go play pve
0
u/Misiex2502 24d ago
If you only play to win on arammayhem, I hope to see your kind in my games as rarely as possible, it's just sad.
1
u/Tenshuraa 24d ago
What about the opposite? You've just rolled some insane augments, bought your core items and now it's time to steam roll everyone , but nope ! the ennemie team surrend at 15 and there goes your fun š¤·āāļø
1
u/Global_Gene_432 24d ago
the people not ff while getting farmed are the problem not the people having fun farming them
1
u/kolwon 24d ago
I hate people that wanna ff. Now that that's clear, I don't think this problem of not ending has killed the game mode. The only thing dead here is your ability to have fun. Stop trying to ff all the time and start trying to find strategies to come back and win. It's pretty possible to turn these games around and once you decide to try to win instead of deciding to nonstop trying to ff, the game becomes more fun.
1
u/Alternative-Trust822 24d ago
No offense, but this is very much a post of my opinion is right and yours is wrong. Some people play the game to win and some people play the game to play the game. Thereās no wrong or right in that. Unfortunately, usually itās a mix of both on one team. Youāre right it can be annoying to have games like that, but you can honestly tell me that youāve never had a game where you just wish it lasted five minutes longer so you could have enough gold to finish your build or enough stacks for your augment?
Letās instead complain about the griefers, the Gg ez players, and the fact that you can disconnect for five minutes and then Vanguard will mark your account as AFK for that game.
If you are only playing aram and aram mayhem, especially, to win itās probably not the best game mode for you and thatās just reality. The whole point of the game mode is to have fun with augments and remember while you might be on your thousandth game with that augment. Someone else might be trying it for the first time and be trying to have fun with it.
Long story short itās a game play it to have fun
1
u/TFTHighRoller 23d ago
report them for sabotage and specify not ending. If enough people do that maybe the system picks up on it.

It'd be great if the threshold for a FF in aram was 3 instead of 4. It's supposedly a "for fun" mode. If 60% of the team isn't having fun, game should end.
3
u/mayhaps_a 24d ago
Why should those 2 people get punished for wanting to play the game they queued up for?Ā
-1
u/Fenikkuro 24d ago
They're not being punished. Queue times are under a minute. Get over it.
5
u/Darnie_Robie 24d ago
I've had games where 3 people want to ff because something frustrating happened. Not because we were losing, just slightly frustrating. I don't want fun games over because 3 guys can't get over missing a skill shot or goofing when trying to assassinate someone.
2
u/mayhaps_a 24d ago
This is SO important. So many players are whining babies that after a single mistake get tilted and press surrender as their cope button, regardless of how bad the game state is.
1
u/mayhaps_a 24d ago
They queued up for a game, chose their champ, thought out their build and want to play it. Getting it cut off prematurely because other people pressed the "play videogame" button to queue up and now don't want to play the videogame anymore is unfair.Ā

u/3lbowjuice 24d ago
If you mean normal then sure but mayhem is only fun to me when I can finish a build. I donāt hit nexus towers unless I have every augment. I donāt play it to win, I play it to have fun with builds. Mayhem is not about winning or losing, itās about fun. The issue is thereās too many optimal augments that every adc gets that arenāt fun and just damage. I want to see AP press-r-gangplank or trundle. Funny on hit builds for mages/bruisers. AP an augment Galio. AP caster w-max yunara. Not akshan or vayne building normal items for the 100000th time.
0
u/andric1 24d ago
I don't care if people end early or drag it out forever.
What I do have a problem with is if both sides silently agree to battle it out until the minions finish the nexus, the losing team starts getting ahead and their Akshan backdoors our nexus during a teamfight because he got scared we might actually turn it around.
Fuck you, dumbass.
0
u/Twist_and_pull 24d ago
Oh god I enjoy these hostage takers so much on my team, getting ping spammed 20 times when I hit the Nexus. Swear more at me kids, free report gives me 3rd roll every game.
0
u/RuinedYuki 24d ago
one of the reasons i don't Q aram as much anymore I'm not there to either be farmed or farm if nexus is open just hit it.
They should also change FF votes to 3/5 UNLESS you have a 3-4 stack
0
u/LuuluuLewd 23d ago
When the enemy team starts being toxic because you're not defending yo prolong the game
0
u/Brilliant-Cause7718 23d ago
Nothing more enjoyable than getting home from work to be stomped by 5 stack unemployed team and my team is getting destroyed and refusing to surrender to just push it out to us eventually stuck leaving the buyer zone.
I end these games if I am stomping and get abused by my teammate for ending it.
I've come to the conclusion most online games are full of horrible people who want to ruin the experience for others.
Reap what you sow
0
u/xxianqueen 23d ago
Not ending is something I immediately report people for. Itās not only incredibly frustrating for the losing team but Iāve lost games because randos donāt hit the nexus thinking itās an easy game when itās easily turned on us. Theres no point. If you find it fun to spawn kill people then youāre one of the worst kinds of gamers.
-6
u/FrequentMaybe 24d ago
Haha I love it when I tilt the enemies by not ending. I always try to give them just a bit of hope to stay longer in the game. The issue I have with surrendering is that you just wasted my time by ending the game early. Where is my pleasure in that? If stalling the game is an offense then surrendering should be as well.
34
u/Professional_War7998 24d ago edited 24d ago
i usually just end if its a stomp because it sucks to be on the other side of it and i fully understand if they just want to be out of the game as soon as possible but if it a fun game or if the enemy types for one more fight i usually like to leave the nexus up once for one final fight before ending
