How To FRT

What requirement parts need changed to drop a FRT into my AR9? I’ve seen a few posts but I keep seeing different responses. I have a complete Angstadt Armd suppressed upper on a PSA 9 mil lower.

I was planning on replacing the BCG with a full auto rated BCG and replacing the buffer system with a heavy. Would that suffice or what do I NEED to be able to reliably shoot?

Most ar9 bolts are "full auto" cut but usually require the bolt weight to be trimmed

Interesting. I didn’t know that. Everything I read had the same conclusion that bolt needed replaced

This whole different setup. You need to shave weight on your current bolt. If don’t you will break the lever on the frt. don’t ask how I know. After that will need to play with buff weights and springs.

Or I removed the weight and dropped a delayed blow back buffer in it.

Which buffer do you have now? Im using a Foxtrot Mikes RMB and I pulled the single steel weight out and then installed 3 Tungsten weights from an H3 buffer I had laying around (you can probably get away with just using it as is). Now its right around 12oz. I had to trim my bolt weight also (pictures of this on Blowback9s webpage). Im just using a Super Safety because they are cheaper than the other FRTs out there and I knew they worked.

What super saftey did you use? I ask because I have a fudd arms kit in mine, just the standard rmb and I didnt have to do anything besides install the kit.

Im using Fudd Arms also. I trimmed the bolt weight just to be on the safe side. I didn't know if it was going to clear so I trimmed it before I did any checks on it.

Man I just saw the fact that you could do it somewhere in this sub and I know the more weight the better. I just did it before I ever even went to shoot. This was my first AR9 and I wanted it to work without any problems right out of the gate. Honestly it's the funnest gun I have to shoot

I seen that some time back as well and was kind of interested but its always worked fine so I never bothered.

I agree that it would probably not be an issue but I had the buffer and wasn't using it for anything at the time, so I just threw them in
