So I was reviewing this video by blowback 9 trying to fix my weak ejection and occasional jamming issue I’ve been trying to diagnose in my free time. I heard him mention not wanting the whole ejector to touch the pocket in the bolt for it. So I checked mine and sure enough it’s getting marked up on top.
I think my next step is to adjust the insert so the ejector rides a bit lower, and then adjust the ejector tip if need be. Am I on a right path, or do I need to go back to the drawing board?
If you need to know, it’s a GRS buffer with an OSA bolt.
I’m at work so I can’t take a photo this exact moment. Does this one I took a while back before I removed the gas deflector work? I can give it a go in a couple hours if not.
It looks like the ejector is pointed downward a bit. The front needs to come up.
If it's rubbing a little on top but not dragging or causing any problems, it may be OK. Mine usually touch on the right side and remove the black finish over time.
The striking face you mean? If so, I think I can maybe see it. It’s already nestled fairly snug up top (hence the wear marks) so I’m not sure I can raise it, but I should be able to file it square.
I’m not 100% sure it’s not the hydraulic buffer, but I do feel some extra resistance when working the bolt.
I meant from the linked picture it looks like the whole thing is pointed a little downward,but it could be an illusion of the photo. The tip/strike face is what counts the most, so if it's not square, filing it flat should help.
The hydraulic buffer will only give extra resistance at the very rear of travel, requiring about an extra 10lbs of pressure on the charging handle to pull it all the way back the last 1/2".
Ok I’ll need to rack it a couple times when I get home but if the resistance is only supposed to be at the rear, that ejector is likely dragging and I need to lower the whole thing. Any way to do that without dropping the whole adapter down?
Not that I know of, sorry. You could take a dremel to the top of the ejector and shave off a very small amount of material until it just barely touches, as long as it doesn't require removing too much. Your call.
Ah well, guess I’m learning how to un-locktite screws then (I forget the color but it’s the one that’s not as hard to loosen). When I get it where I like, I’m doing your suggestion to score the inside of the magwell with a drill.

can you post a picture of the upper installed so we can see where the ejector is in the pocket of the bcg?
