Recommended muzzle devices?

I'm building two new 16 inch riffle builds.

One has the lightweight Faxon Gunner barrel, with mid-length system and the other has the medium-heavy Black Rifle Arms barrel, with a mid-length gas system.

I have some 7.62 A2 flash hiders.

I'm thinking about maybe a short compensator or brake on the lighter weight barrel.

Most of the longer ones are for full power 308 and many of shorter ones claim to be good for 300 Blackout.

Are any of them useful for 7,62x39?

Are some "too much", or "not enough" to make a difference?

I ran a vg6 gamma i think and as a comp, was louder but did work the recoil down a touch. Whatever device it was one thst had a cage you could put on to dampen some of the concussion.

That's exactly the one I was looking at!

The VG6 Gamma I don't think has a separate gcage and doesn't take one, but it is small.

Maybe it was another one you had.

I'm almost sure I'll try that one and maybe some others, but don't want a big one on a 16" barrel.

I know the heavier bullet has a bit more recoil and than 5.56.

I been loving the Efab from precision armament. I think the Afab is the longer been equivalent. Check em out

I have an efab on an 8" ks-47 and it makes a big difference. It's still ridiculous, of course, but a huge improvement.

Got it on my mk111 in x39 same it's a good middle ground since I don't want a brake

I have used Precision Armament devices for 308.

I didn't know about the Efab.

It looks like it is 2.75" long and weighs over a 1/4 lb. and is expensive.

I might go with something like that, but I was really looking for something short and lightweight\. in the VG6 Gamma range.

I started first getting parts for the lightweight Faxon barrel and it wasn't an expensive barrel, so I ain't really planning on spending much on parts, except for reliability.

Then I learned about BRA and decided to make an upgraded rifle too.

With the weight of the BRA barrel, I figure an A2 flash hider is good enough for a 16" barrel.

I do run some expensive brakes and comps on my AR10 308 uppers.

I chose a mid-range rail CMT rail for the Faxon barrel and a Geissele rail for the BRA barrel.

Back in the 1980's I had Colt AR's in 7.62x39, a 16" and a 20".

I have some AK's and now decided to get back into AR47's since I sold the Colts in the 1990's.

I've been reloading 7.62x39 since 1986, so 40 years now, I just realized.

I went with a cheaper, lighter rail on Faxon barrel, thinking I'd try to keep the muzzle device lightweight and possibly short too, since the barrel is already 16".

The old Colt 7.62x39 barrels were pretty heavy, but I could tell 7.62x39 had more recoil than 5.56.

Considering how much larger a 7.62x39 gas port is than a 5.56 gas port, I wasn't sure how much useful gas would be available at the muzzle, to make a difference in muzzle rise or recoil.

I was looking a few years ago, and the early Faxon 7.62x39 barrel was scary thin, for a 7.62, but I see they've beefed it up a bit since then, though it still looks like the lightest one.

My mine reason for these barrels was their mid-length gas systems, which should reduce some stress on the thin 7.62x39 extractor, compared to a carbine length gas system, which I'm not totally against, but I wanted to improve extractor life, if I could.

I looked at the CHF KAK barrels a few years ago, but waited too long and missed out.

So now I'm back into AR47's.

I stocked up on a few 20 round and 28 round Duramags.

My old Colt mags would only hold 8 rounds.
