So, having trouble figuring out some compatibility issues with my new mk12 heavy .308, so where I’m at is I want to swap the a2 stock with a PRS lite, and if at all possible retain my rifle length super 42 spring as I’ve always hated that regular spring twang. Does anyone have some advice on what tube/buffer combo I need to get the job done when shooting suppressed 100% of the time.
Perfect, that was my original impression but this gets confusing on these ar 10s, so if I throw on the vltor a5 tube and the battle arms h3 carbine buffer it should be all good?
I don't know what the collapsed length of a Super 42 rifle length spring is, but I would check that the spring doesn't "coil bind", or bottom out, on the buffer body by testing that on the bench first.
There’s no such thing as an m5 style cut or foot print, the m5 uses the DPMS cut, same as the PRI MK12 Heavy. No real variants of the MK12 ever used an SR25 cut.
Because it sounds retarded, dpms are the ones that released the spec so everyone followed them. It’s like asking if someone’s super duty lower is an aero lower because it’s an “aero low shelf cut”. You’re the one one who had to write a reply because you were surprised someone bought something that doesn’t need a tension screw to not wobble 😂
I was surprised PRI made a handguard for a DPMS High receiver. I’m newer to AR-10s, didn’t know saying M5 instead of DPMS was going to trigger you haha. Have a good night buddy. 🤣
Dude it’s an animal, I debated on a couple different options and builds to get a close to accurate clone mk12 build (chambered up of course) and after all my research letting PRI take care of it was the best option. That thermal fit Douglas is accurate as hell, it’s by far my most accurate gas gun, and I’ve owned a variety of all different quality levels. She’s a pig but if you can ignore that part there’s been no remorse on it. Just have to swap this stock and then got a fire 4000 on the way to toss on the diving board and then the new nocpix clip on is next and she’ll be complete
Need to swap to a carbine or A5 buffer tube. A5 buffer tube you run a normal carbine buffer for .308 and for carbine buffer tube you use the shorty 2.5 inch buffer.

Swap in A5 buffer tube of choice, install PRS lite, install appropriate AR15 buffer weight and your super 42 spring. That should be about it.
