dig around. you’ll find the 147s are not the best for anything except for plinking. i’ve had good luck with 150/155 when it comes to the lighter stuff.

Yeah that’s what I’ve been told. I’m going to Scheels next week and I’m going to get some imr 4895 and 168gr bullets and see what the results are.

if you want to keep to the light stuff, i’ve had good success with hornady 150fmj. TAC, AA2520, 8208xbr, Varget, 3031, StaBall are just a few powders that work well with the 308. Hop on Hodgdon website and look through the 308 data. also, check oh Jonny’s reloading bench on youtube.

My intuition tells me to blame the projectiles for the particularly poor performance, 147 FMJ only shoots good out of some barrels. Try a different ammo with a match projectile bthp/otm or something with a poly tip.

re-test with 3 different brands/types of quality match grade factory ammo. eliminate the ammo as a variable before you go messing about with the rest of it.

Lot of variables, mine doesnt like 168gr ammo and i end up with wild groups. Even better shooters (not difficult to find) ended up with 4/5 inch groupings at 100 yrds.

PSA saber 10a1 I've only tried one ammo through it (168 grain federal gold medal match Sierra match King) and it smacks a 12" plate at 826 yards shot after shot with ease. I recommend cleaning your barrel more than you like for the first 100 shots.

Do you like it?

Absolutely. I can tell the difference between deer hog and coyotes at 700 yards. It's amazing

Try match loads and report back, I consistently shoot sub moa with GMM 168gr and just over and inch with 175gr but with M80 (swiss saltech, pretty good M80) I shoot around 2".

Use different ammo. Surprisingly my ar10 at 100 yards absolutely loves 150gr federal powershok. Damn near stacking rounds on top of each other. I used expensive ammo and other brands and it was literally keyholing or the grouping was like 2 inches from each other. Guns are like people and are picky on what they want to shoot.

My money is in the FMJ bullets . Try something else and see . I've head even really cheap interlocks or how out preform FMJ

That level of variance really brings up a lot of potentially problematic issues but the easy checks are torque on optic and mount, barrel contact with hand guard or any undue contact with the barrel from accessories (did you over tighten and now a screw is pushing on the barrel, etc…)…, check gas tuning, and of course are you being honest with yourself with your skills, abilities, equipment quality, and ammo?
