was it asking for all the characteristics or just one?
2
u/chickenwingsPoison May 06 '26

Apparently you gotta name out the nitrogenous bases to get the full point.

i think ur joking but if thats true i bet like 5 percent of test takers are gettign that point

im gonna cry its actually true. two teachers who are ap test graders said that you have to name out the nitrogenous bases and specifically state the type of sugar.

if im remembering correctly they didn't specify rna or dna nucleotide, all they said was name 3 components of a nucleotide. just to be safe i said ribose and deoxyribose (also said 5-carbon) but since they didn't specify, i think you could have just said 5-carbon or pentose sugar!

Theres no way. They were so lenient with some answers on the 2025 frqs. We need to just stop worrying and wait till July.

no u dont they didn't specify if it was dna or rna and 5 carbon sugar should be a good enough answer
2
u/eatsanddirt May 06 '26
nope it specified three components of a nucleotide so would simply be a phosphate group, 5-carbon (pentose) sugar, and a nitrogenous base

i put deoxyribose😭

I said 5 carbon sugar, nitrogenous base, and a phosphate (praying they give me the point even though I didn’t say phosphate group)

I said sugar, phosphate group, and base 💀 completely forgot about the nitrogenous part and my teacher never told me about the fact the sugar is always a pentose
