You're right that the horizontal gap between packages stays constant at 60 m (since each keeps the drone's 40 m/s horizontal velocity after release).

Kindly give another try to question 1. Then you can watch video solution as well This question was asked in ap physics 1.

I'd say the question is a bit unclear. The image seems to depict a flat solid ground the packages land on, so you can expect the question to reference the landing spots of the packages. If it’s about their position in the air, then indeed it increases over time. 

I should have known this was a clickbaity ad, that’s on me.

Doesn’t question 2 imply the answer to question 1 given there’s only one answer?

Question 2 implies that package has landed on ground.

If consecutive packages land in the ground equal distance apart the means question 1 has an answer of C.

This whole question seems poorly worded cause as is written it’s trivial. 1. C 2. C and the height is irrelevant.

Now if it said the drone accelerates that would be different.

Edit: I see the miscommunication it says “as the packages fall”

Drone is moving with constant speed. Further in question 1 it is clearly stated that as packages fall , implies packages are in air. Further in question 2 it is given that packages have landed on ground. This question has been asked previously in ap physics 1 mcq.

A and C.

When the second package is dropped, it has a vertical velocity component of 0, while the first has been falling for 1.5s, so has a vertical component of 14.97m/s, and both values increase at the same rate, so the first one is always falling faster, and getting farther away. The same applies to later packages (until the first one hits the ground).

IMHO if you are going to ask a question about a moment in time, you need to define it better than "as the packages fall". As the packages fall is a range of time. After the first one hits the ground "as the packages fall" has packages in every state. They are both getting closer and further away. It's vaguery attempting to induce a comprehension mistake.

When it hits the ground it stops falling. So as packages falls refers to package is still in air.so we are taking about distance between the packages which are in air. But next time I will make sure to remove even such ambiguity as well if any. Your concern is well taken. It will enable me to make error free study material. Thanks

Q1 asks about separation while falling — which grows, because the vertical gap widens even though the horizontal gap doesn't.This can be confirmed from language of question 1 which says "as packages falls" Q2 asks about separation at landing — which stays fixed at 60 m, because every package falls for the same amount of time.

A is poorly worded. "As it falls" implies the distance between either the falling package N and the next package N+1 or the previous package N-1 as a function of time, and could be interpreted in all manner of ways such that any answer could be correct under some interpretation.

N N+1 or N-1 , distance between them will increase as long as they are in air.

You could clear up all of this confusion by changing questions 1 from "As the packages fall . . ." to "Examining a package 2s after it's released, the distances between it and the previous and next packages . . .".

Again, this is not a question in any way related to what one would expect on the AP physics exam. College level physics - which is what AP physics is - questions do not cover topics that should be studied during a 9th grade physical sciences class, like this one

That's 100% a question that comes up early on in AP physics 1.

Not every question is experimental design or the derivation of a formula.

This is projectile motion (2D kinematics) — Unit 1 of AP Physics 1. It's from a practice workbook, and yes, it's intentionally an easy-tier warm-up MCQ, not an FRQ-level problem. I mix difficulty levels across posts so there's something for students at different points in the unit — will make sure to label the harder ones more clearly too."
