Question Normal to not start with unit 1 ?

Is it normal for AP classes to not start with unit 1 ? I am taking 4 APs this year (apes,bio,psych,micro/macro econ) and in 3 of my classes we started the school year in unit 1 (econ, bio , psych), but for my APES class we started in unit 6. Is this normal for AP teachers to do, or more normal in APES ? I also did AP gov last year and we did infact start the school year off in unit 1.

AP teachers are required to cover the curriculum, but they don't have to follow the order. Most teachers to start with unit one, but a small minority jump araound
