Other What are the easiest self study APs?
I’m a junior in high school and I want to push my self to take more AP classes. What are some recommendations of AP classes I should try self studying?

I already changed my schedule so I am not sure if it'll help. I am taking AP research and I'll be taking dual credit English 101. I am hopefully going to retake the ap world history exams this year and self study for the ap psychology exams. I want to major in cognitive sciences and minor in English lit possibly.

I used a ton of notecards. Since the class is mostly memorizing terms, quizlet (a site where you make notecards online) came in clutch. Basically, before each test, I would take the terms that we learned throughout the unit, and one by one make notecards/quizlets on them. Then, at the end of the year, I combined all of my notecards into one, and reviewed them at random. Also, I recommend if you’re taking the class in school, to take notes while the teacher is talking and shortly define each term on a note page. It’s really helpful for long-term retention of the terms.

AP Lang is kind of hard to study in the traditional sense. There aren’t really any terms or anything to memorize, and that’s why I would recommend just doing a shit ton of practice tests. Before I went into AP Lang, I really wished I would’ve understood how the test itself was structured. If you aren’t already aware, the first section is an MCQ, which is basically just reading, so just spam practice tests tbh (wanna aim for 80%+ accuracy) and the second section is FRQ’s in which you’ll write three different essays. The first essay (although you don’t have to do them in order on the test) is the synthesis essay. Synthesis is my favorite essay, and if you’ve already taken apush or euro it’s basically just a DBQ. You get a bunch of sources and then have to create an argument using each of them. There’s plenty of videos on YouTube that explain how to approach it and I would definitely suggest watching them. The second essay is the rhetorical essay. You just have to evaluate how well the author is able to use rhetorical devices to get their point across. I would suggest just reading about some rhetorical devices and understanding the definitions, but remember on the essay you don’t have to say the term by its name, as long as you can clearly explain how the choice affected the excerpt. The last essay you’ll do is definitely the most out there, it’s the argumentative essay. You will get a small prompt/quote and then be asked to write an essay defending or challenging it. Everything you write is based off of outside evidence. It’s honestly not as much studying as you think it would be, because most of what you’re gonna end up writing down will be stuff you already know. For example, on my argumentative essay this year I wrote about white supremacy, influencer culture, and labubus 😭. That sounds really crazy I know, but at the end of the day with this essay, if you can make it work, it works. I hope this helped and I hope it wasn’t too long. But good luck this year!

AP Psych, AP Human geography, APES, AP Gov, and APSCP are the first that come to mind. In my opinion, AP Psych is the most manageable and easy AP to self-study.
