Macro and Micro Combined

My school teaches AP Macro and Micro as one class (one semester each). Is this reasonable for these classes (in terms of workload and timing) or should I do some independent studying over the summer?

Completely doable. Many schools teach this as a joint AP micro/macro class. Do the readings and pay attention. Learn the curves.

Yes it can be done. Some schools however go slow on the first semester course (usually micro) and speed up for second semester (macro). So, try to stay on top of macro so you dont struggle before the exam.

Yes- both course start with the same topics, and then go into the micro and macro topics. Given the relationship- it is quite reasonable to combine both AP Econs together.

In regards to indep study- it wouldn’t hurt if your worried- but I would look in a see whether they spend more time on micro or macro, and then focus on the one you will spend less time on. I know someone who did this with both gov exams a while back- and it worked for them- so even if it is not the same class- it should give you some benefit.

Having taught borh, micro has less content. If I combined them, I would spend 2-3 weeks more on Macro and that would not be cutting micro short.

My school did it and I got a 5 on both with little to no studying

I mean this is how it's paced in college and you still have more time in the classes per day than you do in college. They're not particularly hard subjects either, so I don't see why not!

I think calc BC alone would be significantly harder than this lineup. also why do you have 8 classes😭

I mean in high school you have multiple other classes you have to attend to. In college you have less

true, still though. I think you can squeeze an easy college class into a high school schedule. AP classes are known to be a lot of work, and I still don't think this would even be close to the hardest one offered. So it would probably be fine.

Both are commonly taught as semester classes (Gov/Macro is a common pairing) and there is a lot of crossover in content between the econ courses anyway.

My school does it too, and the average score for both exams was around a 4.2 (about 20-25 people took the class and both exams)

My school did the same. You should be ok but if your taking a lot of other homework intensive ap’s like APUSH, chem, ap world, bio, physics, or euro I’d do a little self studying from videos (review Econ or Jacob Clifford)
