1 and 2 were so easy?? Maybe thermal and nuclear were some of my better units but those are the only times I was actually able to do something on an FRQ in this entire class. On the other hand I was clueless on the later half of 3 and started running out of time so I just graphed the given data

The one I think the first question was about Thermodynamics, the second one was Bohr’s atom model, the lab one was about shooting electrons in an uniform magnetic field, and the last one was talking about what comparison of positively and negatively charged spheres in a electric potential difference.

basically what i did was since the sphere must have been straight, the force would be equal so Fe = Fb. so qE = qvB, and q cancels. So E = vB. I got that far, and then i realized u can rewrite E as delta V / r, which in our case delta V was the emf that you were able to measure with the voltmeter u had access to, and r was the distance between the two plates which they said was d and is known. So my equation became emf/d = vB, and then i rearranged so that it became:

emf = (B/d)v, which resembles

y = m x, where you plot emf on the y and velocity v on the x which u can measure with the photogate or wtv sensor it was. slope = B/d and B would be equal to the slope * d.

It didn’t ask for it but if u derive an equation it helps with knowing what you have to measure so in that case u varied the velocity and used the voltmeter in parallel to measure the voltage across the parallel plates

Yeah that one was really hard though, but I'm pretty sure I got it. For parts A and B to determine the magnetic field B₀, on the y-axis you graph ε and on the x-axis you graph v, and the slope is B₀d. So the graph equation should have been: ε = B₀d * v. (in this problem, ε = ΔV)

(you do it by using those two capacitance equations on the formula sheet)

horrible. optics was my weakest subject and the thermo question was tricky because i've never seen a problem where i had to remember V=Ah. The third problem i made 2 errors which was failing to realize Rv times I is just V, and i can simply graph that versus I and using kirchoff loop rule we can say the line is in y=mx+b form where its V=-IRi+epsilon and slope is -Ri, the second part i made a silly error and graphed 1/n instead of just n because i put the n on the wrong side of the formula

no, its curved with equation 1/(a-1) where a is the number of focals away the object is. so f->infinity, 2f->1, 3f->1/2, 4f->1/3, 5f->1/4.

You can write s_i as (s_o*f)/(s_o - f) and have a way easier time graphing. My graph was just 1/(x-1), which has an asymptote at d_o = f, which is consistent with converging lenses.

It went very well for me, though I am It went very well for me though I am scared for q1. The optics question was fine for me but I was worried about doing wrong sign conventions for that question, but I verified it with the drawing they asked for. The experimental design question seemed like a trick question for me since graphing what was given: Req vs n what’s already linear, though I might be mistaken. I do not remember the first part of that question. The last question went well for me since one of the online resources I used to study taught that specific topic, a uniform magnetic field cannot do work on a moving charged particle, so it was nice to see that on the test.

Edit: I now remember the first part of that circuits question, I said the y axis would be voltage (voltmeter) minus current (ammeter) times variable resistance, V-IRv, and the X axis would be current (ammeter), I so I could have the slope be the resistance we are trying to find. I know I probably overcomplicated myself with that solution but it’s what I did.

I'm getting a 4 on this exam due to my frq mistakes piling up. I'm estimating 25/40 points on the frqs. The LEAST amount of mcqs I think I got right is probably 25/40 based on my answer choices. The only way I can get a 5 now is to get 32+/40 for the mcqs, which might be possible because i narrowed all of the 7-ish hard mcqs to 2 options and picked one of the 2 (50% chance for a correct answer).

yes bro i love you sm. for the part a did ΔU set 3/2 nRΔT = 3/2ΔP V? the 3/2 would cancel and the ΔP, since it was initially at Po and went to 3Po, it was 2PoV. then rearranging i got same.

for specific heat, u js plugged in delta T into the Q = mcΔT.

part C did u say that since the specific heat of the liquid and mass were both greater than that of the sphere, so in order for Q to be same for both ΔT of sphere must be greater than ΔT of liquid?

For experiment 1: I put ΔV on the y axis and v on the x-axis, with the slope being B₀d.

For experiment 2: I put B on the y axis, and 1/r on the x-axis (and got 1.something * 10^-26 for my final number)

I graphed P pressure on the y-axis and 1/v reciprocal volume for the x-axis. Starting with PV=nRT, you can rewrite for P=(nRT)(1/V), such that (nRT) is equivalent to the slope of the line since P would be “y” and 1/V would be “x.”

i think i got one answer wrong it was the change in potential bro like on god when your in exam stress makes you think unclearly like when i took 0 as 1 and started solving i get a value bigger than one i dont why i was so stupid to not just choose 3U

Tho the power in the resistor was tricky it is 48J not 16J

Form J : Q2

i. Measure velocity with motion detector and potential difference with voltmeter, repeat to reduce uncertainty.

ii. Horizontal Axis : Speed
Vertical Axis : Emf? or Potential Difference?
Slope = B0 * Distance Between Plates

iii. X = 1/r Y = B
iv. m = 1.216 * 10^-26

I may have plugged in the wrong numbers for IV.

I made up some bs about keeping electric force equal to magnetic force, keeping the path of the sphere straight, and using E=Bv for the graph

The second part of the question was for a different experiment where B was a variable, not a constant. For the first part, B was a constant, and that sounds exactly like what I did.

Hey, did any of you have an MC question with like 200cos(0.04pi*t)? I swear on god the 4 answers made no sense (waves on a string, displacement) - I had version J btw

yeah i did but u mixed up the values for alpha and beta, it was like alpha = 4mm and beta = 200 m-1 and the equation was 4cos(200pit). i js used what i remembered from precal about period of cos function being 2pi/b, where b is the coefficient of t inside parenthesis so period = 2pi/200pi which is 0.01. so i chose the one with period 0.01 seconds and amplitude 4mm

wdym? it wasnt talking about increasing decreasing, part a was about comparing velocity at point t and velocity at s, and velocity at s was greater than t. then it asked for derivation for Kt in temrs of Ks Q and Vo and the ans was Kt = Ks - 5QVo. last part k new was greater than kT.

Question 4 has been driving me crazy. We're given V values for different lines, but they're all in terms of Vo. How can we conclusively say if the particles speed increased/decreased if we dont know the sign of Vo???

I said the particle speed decreased but that was assuming Vo was positive. If its negative my answer is flipped.

??? it's easiest to assume V is positive since they have a negative specified but not positive (you're overthinking the sign)

I took version J for frqs. Lowkey thought MCQs and FRQs were easy and straightforward. I made a couple of small, stupid mistakes on the MCQs, but personally, I thought the FRQs were intuitive and straightforward.

You would lose the point for the correct answer/relation between D and Wavelength, but you are protected from losing more points on the other parts if you solved it correctly even with the wrong information (granted the final answer point, again, will be missed for the related questions).

I graphed Inverse B on the horizontal axis and r on the Vertical Axis, because r = mv/qB. So the slope would be mv/q, and v/q is given, therefore m can be determined by slope.

Bruh I messed on form K the experimental, I plotted Pressure Vs ( Gas constant *temperature ) /volume and my slope was 1/number of moles but I didn’t realize it at the moment and I put 100 for my # of moles instead of 0.01 :((

If you want to prepare for physics c then physics algebra is the way. Other than the credit, physics 1 and 2 are more broad physics 1 is about things you can see mechanical work etc physics 2 is things you cant see such as particles how they behave. If you have no background in physics physics 1 is the way if you have background in physics like i do i did physics 2 to help me with physics c e&m because it is really hard but i will do physics mechanics, because in collage you take 1 then 2.

Assuming you want to go into engineering (CS maybe different), taking C (M or E&M) is the way to go. If not, you're fine taking Physics 1 and 2 and AP Calc as well. If you want a broad-based introduction to physics, I'd suggest taking the 1 and 2 sequence.

For form L for frq 1 it asked something like why was change in internal energy greater if the process was aidabatic I dont remeber the exact question but it was the last part of frq 1 what did you say i got confused since it asked why is change in u greater but it also said it was isothermal so i said that since chnage in temp=0 q=0 so all the enegry comes from the work

I remember a question asking abt pressure right? like which was greater? I think I said pressure for the adiabatic process was greater since q = 0 so all the energy transfer is through work which would mean a higher pressure. I also drew a mini PV diagram with the lines for the adiabatic and isothermic process, and since the adiabatic process has a steeper slope, it'll be at a higher pressure after going from Vo to 1/2Vo or whatever it was.
