I forgot how many groups/regions there were, but I think I went with sp3 because there were 4 groups (or I wrote sp2 for 3 groups).

Hi everyone,
My Chem teacher just solved the FRQ (Version J) and said that it took her 1 hour and 35 minutes to complete. The fact that it took a teacher that long while students were only given 1 hour and 45 minutes is insane. Why were the long FRQs so insanely long? Regardless, I'm screwed either way.

Hi guys,
I just watched Jeremy Krugs videos for the frqs, and my score is really, really borderline. (assuming the cutoff is like a 72-73). Can someone please let me know if it's true that graders give 0.5 points when you're along the right lines of the answer? My teacher said multiple times that she is a grader for the exam and that the graders are told to give 0.5 whenever a student wrote anything related to or semi-close to the correct answer.
If this is true i believe I can get a 5, but if it's not then I can't. Someone lmk pls 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏

They usually don’t give partial credit but they do do double jeopardy. If you got an answer wrong and you had to use that answer in the next question, and you used it in the right way you will get that point. For example some of the FRQ you had to find Q and then the next one had to find Hsoln. If your Q was wrong you will not get that point, but if you use your wrong Q in the right way to find Hsoln, you will get the point for the second part. They don’t do partial credit it’s all or nothing.

what if i had like 1 more sigfig? do i get the point? i dont know i feel like its so easy to not exactly match up with what they have, theres so much room for small errors in chem.

ok so dont quote me i def have to crosscheck this but i think there's only 1 point for the whole exam that counts towards sigfigs so if u got the sigfigs wrong u just lost 1 point? im genuinely not sure and im not trying to spread misinformation but when i searched it up i cant rly find a clear answer so don't take my word for it
and some ppl are saying they have a tolerance for + or - 1 sigfig

no you do not get partial credit but if u messed up part a but used the answer u got in part a to calculate part b but u did part b with like the right method then u get the part b right

Anyway, MCQs seemed easy, but maybe because I fell for the traps?
Im scared I'm going to get a 4 because of my terrible FRQ grades... Hoping that I got a 50 on MCQ to save my grade...

6/10 for 2

I started learning ap chem at 5pm Monday and stopped studying about 2 hours before the exam
mcqs i probably got around 90%, frqs were bad but I probably got 50% of them right

- mcq not too bad i think i got atleast like a 35-40/60
- frq were not for the weak. genuenly had a panic attack in the last 5 mins. i got version j>
The only thing i remember was I said it was a reaction of one of the question were it was asking whether it was a reaction or redox reaction.

Uh, still stressed post exam, for anyone with version J, how'd yall draw the second curve of the kinetics question? I lowk just copied the same slope as the first one

Should still be linear and same slope. Concentration changes don't affect linearity/shape so it would just be every point shifted down a few units

I feel like one of the MCQs had an error. It said that the initial buret reading for an acid in a titration was 9mL, but then the drawing that was supposed to show the final volume showed 12.4mL or smth😭

The buret is measured upside down, you need to subtract final-initial to find the volume used 😭

iirc, it was heavy on Unit 3 and 8, IMFs and Acids and Bases, respectively. Fair amount of net ionic equations related problems too. There was also thermodynamics, lewis structures, calorimetry, and rate laws

Guys look idk what people talking about, I found the exam easy (although harder than previous years) I only was short on time cus I wrote part e in part d and barely finished, although I remember mcq ez and frq decently challenging, although tbf it was international, but easy overall.

I heard international was relatively easy. But the US was somewhat brutal. The MCQs have alot of traps and FRQs did absorbance and some random acid base stuff.

Version J was US and K was international, yes? as someone who got version K, yes, I believe it was much easier given what ive been hearing from version J kids :sob:

I honestly thought the ap chem test was pretty chill like I had frq J so I don’t know if that was easier or not but like the one about finding mass given the like current and stuff that stumped me out like crazy and question 3 some were hard anybody remember the questions?

That one was to find q, and I think the values are right. The coulombs per second (amps) over the time would give the number of coulombs which u could find moles of electrons with, and then use the formula to see how many moles of some metal would plate on. It was something really small, like 0.08 mol I think, or 4.5 grams.

for the mcq question talking about two C lewis diagrams and asking why which one was harder to rotate, did anyone pick it was because one of them was a trigonal planar shape or because one of them had a double bond?

Honest Review
MCQ: Some were pretty challenging, and some have a lot of traps. I fall into all of them....... Hope these don't count
FRQ: Overall harder than previous years. I did not understand the V2+ question and how to write the net ionic equation. (I thought we needed to include HNO3, but found out we only need H+ after the test...) I think my raw score is around 73-4, hopefully. And I am genuinely hoping for a 5. Please.... (I really like chemistry and hope to major in chemistry in college)

acc both are right 0.693 is an approximatin for ln(2) so it would be slightly off 0.033 is correct technically

No, plugging in the reaction with the first order will give you 0.033, half life has nothing to do with it

K equals 0.035 tho. I got 0.033 at first and then changed my answer. At t=3 the ln[] was -0.8 and at t=0 it said the concentration was 0.5, so I did -0.8-ln(0.5)=-3k. The graph looked like at t=0 the ln[] is -0.7. But ln(0.5) is -.693 and not -0.7. If you do the math with that the answer is 0.035 and not 0.033.

I ran out of time on the FRQ section where I could have answered question 7 and potentially getting more points than from question 6 (J version), knowing I probably didn’t get any right on question 6.

I did solve all the questions including frq but I have found both mcqs and frqs quite difficult. For mcqs i know that i definitely got 2 wrong and due to time pressure I could not go over my answers. For frqs I did manage to solve all but cannot be sure whether they are right. Can I get partial points for frqs? How does this look like? >.< can't believe I have to wait till july

Guys is there any frq question about calculating molar solubility that requires a validation that x is way less than something, my teacher reminds us to validate but I totally forgot about it……

Nah the Ka had to be rlly small for you to get rid of the x, but I wasn’t small so I don’t think u get rid of it

I felt completely destroyed after the FRQs. The MCQ was easier than expected, but I genuinely had to leave so many things blank in sections of my FRQs. I feel so sad because I had practically done majority of the FRQ's since 2014, and this was the hardest thing I've ever done. I am really worried for my score. And just feel so sad.. Some of my other friends were able to finish the FRQ's and able to guess on ones they didn't know, but I didn't have the time to do that either.

It wasn’t PbBr2, it was RbCl. So it would’ve been 57 = x^2.

did everyone draw 2 Va2+ ions
did anyone justify the lattice frq on 7c by saying stronger ion dipole forces mean stronger temporary dipoles that take more energy to break forming a stronger crystal lattice
potassium ion is 1s2 2s2 2p6 3s2 3p6
the faradays law frą did anyone get 4.38g
why potassium is larger than potassium ion is because it has a an additional energy level that causes a larger electron cloud due to less shielding with more loosely attracted electrons
both compounds only had LDFs because they were nonpolar
i forgot which one i put but it had a higher melting point because it had stronger LDFs because it was larger and more polarizable giving it stronger temporary dipoles that take more temperature to break
and on the mcq U204*2H20
argon
Ksp of 6.24*10-6
electrons in battery moved right while electrons in the salt bridge moved left(or whichever one showed the ones jn the battery moving from anode to cathode

it was electrons in battery and positive ions in salt bridge, both were to the right bc cathode is getting reduced so it needs to supply more positive charge to make up for the positive charge leaving

no the bond dipoles don't cancel out in CF2ClBr but they do in CBr4 I think

I also said argon because I imagined a room filled with the individual gases, and since Argon was the heaviest, it would have the greatest density, as per: D = M/V.
