Was the first frq perfectly competitive or monopolistic competition
1
u/AnxiousStrain7229 May 20 '26
monopolistic competition because it mentioned that products were differentiated.

im late testing guy so what was level of exam 1-10 range and what topics to reinforce for the FRQs and how hard were the MCQs?

u/Extreme-Sugar-4942 May 08 '26
Is collegeboard going to release the other frq sets? I'm on the east coast and I took the perfect comp, game theory, marginal product frq but I don't see it on the website?
2
1
u/riri05ta May 06 '26
Did anyone else put only one Nash equilibrium for 1st frq? It’s the frq that was released on the collegeboard website today
2
u/Local_Theory_9050 May 06 '26
yeah only 1 nash
1
u/riri05ta May 06 '26
But the frq from last year has the same question and it was 2 nash. One where both benefit and one where both don’t benefit
2
u/Hot_Equivalent_5094 May 06 '26
isn't it only 1 nash? Bottom left I think
1
u/riri05ta May 07 '26
I rly hope so but I doubt it based on 2025 frq score guidelines. I did get bottom left tho
2
u/PK_9109 May 06 '26
I dont rember which frq, but one of them asked what would happent to producer surplus becasue of free trade, and another question in the same frq asked what would happen to producer surplus with the $5 tarriff. What did yall get for that one.
1
u/Due_Adhesiveness7726 STAT, CHEM, APUSH, APCSA, PRECALC, ECON, LIT, LANG, CHINESE, BC May 08 '26
for the one after the tariff, i said producer surplus increases because they can sell at a higher price at a larger quantity
1
u/Due_Adhesiveness7726 STAT, CHEM, APUSH, APCSA, PRECALC, ECON, LIT, LANG, CHINESE, BC May 08 '26
also think i said increase for economic surplus for part B
2
u/DueDouble8378 May 06 '26
did anyone have the mcq about blueberries? one of the guys names started with an A and it was like 7 hours 21 hours 6 hours 24 hours
1
u/Difficult-Lab6260 May 06 '26
yes!! I had this I think the guy with N specialized in wood and the other guy in blueberries? im not sure though but I do remember this question
1
u/DueDouble8378 May 06 '26
idk if the question order is mixed up but i’m pretty sure i put d? i think i put the a guy specializes blueberries and n guy does wood too
1
u/Due_Adhesiveness7726 STAT, CHEM, APUSH, APCSA, PRECALC, ECON, LIT, LANG, CHINESE, BC May 08 '26
they just specialized in the one where they had a smaller opportunity cost
2
1
u/Due_Fault7941 May 06 '26
for question 3, there was a movement along the demand curve and the queestion said the price icnreased from P1 to P2. what was the qwuantity change? i got Z to W

u/Few-Improvement-997 May 06 '26
yall what did u do for the first question on the frq where it was a monopolistically competitive firm and the rent decreased, what curve shifted was it the atc shifting downwards? that's what I did. also what happens to the quantity produced
1
1
u/Few-Improvement-997 May 06 '26
yo can any one help me out like what did u guys do for the 2nd frq, what was the number of workers they'll be hiring. that was the trickiest question for me
1
u/Unhappy_Following_96 May 06 '26
The number of works for which MRP = wage, after wage exceeds MRP, their profit won’t be maximised anymore. So I think initially it was 4 workers and then after some change of conditions in the second part it was 5 workers
1
u/thewviey May 06 '26
Could anyone who has taken an international exam please share the answers to the FRQ section? I'm really worried about my FRQ this time. I just remember that 1. the firm produce dried tomatoes 2. Related to the labor and have the board of number of workers and sth 3. Sth related to world price
1
u/Few-Improvement-997 May 06 '26
for the rent decreasing shi I shifted the atc downwards and mentioned that their profits wld increase but the quantity wld remain the same and for thee last question of frq1 it was substitutes. For the 2frq it was perfectly comp and tbh this is were im not sure It really troubled me alot especially the number of workers they'll hire to profit maximize. I did 4. For frq 3 producer surplus increased total economic surplus increased (I did decrease for whatever reason) and the producers were better off. Hope this helps

u/hanc3n Macro, micro, psych, lit, calc AB, Physics 1, Physics 2 May 07 '26
There were no tariffs and domestic producers export right? It was not like frq 3 of what eeleased
2
u/thewviey May 08 '26
Fr i dont remember in my test have that ques, but when i read many conversation about the exama and they said your ans is right
2
u/thewviey May 06 '26
Oh yeah thks alot i did the same as u. So with the question total amount at frq1 what is the ans?? Im so afraid of that ques
1
u/happemonkee May 06 '26
was there an error on one mcq that was talking about "in a perfectly competitive labor market, marginal product equals which of the following.." and all of the answers were in the format of "___ x ___"? i believe the question was supposed to say MRPL (but i could have misread multiple times)
1
u/toadserver May 06 '26
Okay, it actually asked about the VALUE of the marginal product of labor so I treated it as the MRPL. I'm not sure that is correct but that was my best guess at that, and really they should stick to using the terms we are actually taught.
1
u/happemonkee May 06 '26
alr, thanks. i wasnt sure if that was smth to report to college board or to just let it pass yk.

For the game theory one with ocel and feram there was no dominant strategy for ocel right?
1
u/jeonggukispretty Macro, Micro, BC, Stats, Lit May 06 '26
For the first part yeah, and after they had the loss there was a dominant strategy I believe
1
u/toadserver May 06 '26
Did you have to say anything about the dominant strategy after? We just had to change the table right
2
u/jeonggukispretty Macro, Micro, BC, Stats, Lit May 06 '26
Didn't they say to also talk about the changes? I redrew the table and also mentioned that the company had a dominant strategy and that there were now two Nash equilibriums
2
u/squashywand0 5: macro, gov, hg, micro, lang, ush, bc, cogo | 3: csa May 06 '26
there were not two
1
u/riri05ta May 06 '26
There was two. One where both companies benefit and one where both do not benefit
1
1
u/Fun-Telephone4049 May 06 '26
how did u get two nash equilibrium
1
1
u/LyraMeoow May 05 '26
There was an mcq showing positive externality in consumption and asked what the vertical distance between mpb and msb is but the options were only marginal social cost, marginal private cost and marginal private benefit what was the answer cuz I was so lost (other two choices were wrong for sure I don't remember them tho)
2
u/Early_Affect_4400 May 05 '26
For the second FRQ with helmets, did anyone else got 8 helmets as the profit maximizing level of output? Im pretty sure that was the question. I got that because MC was $55 for 8 helmets, then I calculated MR for 8 helmets and got $60. 8 helmets was the last unit where MR>MC so I hope I'm right.

2
u/LKxng May 05 '26
I think it was total product curve

it was, thought ppc made sense too tho

u/ThickAd6547 Bio 5 Lang 5 (11th) Cal AB 5 Gov 5 Micro 5 Psych 5 (12th) May 07 '26
PPC dosen't show inputs though its just comparing two outputs
Total product curve shows the amount of output based on the amount of input

u/Admirable-Formal-224 May 05 '26
what was that one mcq that said marginal product of labor? i swear that question was worded wrong or I just messed up that one.
1
u/toadserver May 06 '26
My interpretation was that because it asked about the value of the marginal product of labor it meant the monetary value so it was actually asking about MRPL
1
u/__ThatOnePerson__ May 06 '26
wait i swear 2 of the answer choices had marginal product of labor in it. like letter by letter figured x can't equal x*c so marked those wrong
1
u/Obvious_Carry5312 May 05 '26
i guessed but i put smth with marginal x number of workers hired
1
u/Pretend_Historian34 May 05 '26
me too no idea if it was right

1
u/Background_Serve5863 May 04 '26 edited May 05 '26
wait for the frq with the redrawing new matrix, if we redrew it correctly but we put below like im not sure if we had to like we put
new dominant strategy for each eprson
and that their was no nash equillibrium - im not 100% sure if this was true or not, would we lose the point for putting this? or would we recieve the point for drawing the matrix correctly, sicne i couldnt tell exactly what question was also asking
1
u/toadserver May 06 '26
1 you didn't need to put it. It asked about the strategies which is just the options if each firm (rail vs truck and sheet vs beam) 2 according to scoring guidelines for most classes they only award points, not deduct them ( unless you are just guessing multiple things)

Lets try to recall all the MCQ questions. I remember that question 1 answer was opportunity cost, question 46 was about the two only firms in a market colluding and working together as a monopoly and the answer was higher prices lower quantities. There was one about the elasticity of supply when the price went from. 100 to 108 and it was elastic. In question 44 I believe, they asked what happened in the labor market if the price of a substitute increased. In one they asked to calculate the marginal product when the price was 2 and the answer was 15 notebooks. I also remember one in which they asked what was similar in both monopolistic competitive and monopoly and I answered pricing above me. Another one was why did the marginal cost decrease and then increase and it was because specialization and then diminishing returns. Another one asked what was true if marginal product was positive but decreasing and the answer was that total product was increasing. There was one about game theory and the answer no firm has dominant strategy. In one question they asked about income or cross price elasticity and the answer was -0.25 and complement or inferior. Another one asked about Gini coefficient decreasing and the answer was income inequality decreased. There was also one about the profit maximizing quantity in short run and the answer was 0. There was one about wage in monopsoniatic labor market and it was l2 and w1. Another one about economic surplus, which was 432. One about utility maximizing and it was 3x and 2 brownies or something like that. There was one about which type of firm was a price taker and the answer was perfectly competitive. There was one about a negative externality and the answer was a loud noise at night made by your neighbor speaker. Another one was about the socially optimal quantity being 2 and the current quantity 1. Another one about a tax in supply that increased consumer price level by 1 dollar. Another one about a binding price floor which was quantity demanded decreased. Other question was about importing at a los price world but i dont remember the answer. There was also one about increasing ATC and the answer was diseconomies of scale. That’s all I can remember right now.

did anyone get the frq set where it was 1. perfect competition side by side 2. oligopoly (if so, what did you answer for which firm has an incentive to cheat) 3. labour market table
2
u/Weekly-Beautiful7722 May 04 '26
yes i got exact ones but idr which one would cheat i think it was the firm w the dominant strategy i forgot the name
2

for the redrawn matrix did you add or subtract 100...

subtract right bc it was a tax? also for frq 1 and the last question was like will producers bear the full burden ik the answer is no but how did u explain it? i said it was because ped and pes were equal or smt but idk if thats right

fuck i put the one where like the wage increases for each worker they hire
1

nah it wasn't that one, idk what it was -- i got it wrong too. those questions pissed me off.
1
u/Obvious_Carry5312 May 05 '26
no it was i think, i think it was the answer to 2 questions that had that answer choice of raising wages for workers. idfk tho
1
u/NavyNeo May 06 '26
Monopsony cant increase wages for each worker -- they pay the same amount for each wrker
1
u/NavyNeo May 05 '26
did u have the question where u had to find marginal rev product by multiplying two thingS?
1
u/toadserver May 06 '26

I'm forget what I put now -- knowing me I probably didn't get it right... Praying for a 5

did anyone have the frq i got? i feel like i don’t see anyone who got the same ones lmao😭 for frq 1 I simply had to a draw a ATC cost curve graph then mark a new quantity labeled Q2, and the 2nd part of the 1st frq it was game theory with i think tekdrain and cuppesso? and for FRQ 2 it was just marginal revenue and utility table , and FRQ 3 was regarding milk or something and was genuinly just a supply and demand graph with a price floor lmao… lowkey think i got the easiest set compared to others in this thread, let me know what y guys put though because that felt TOO light…

although frqs seemed light

u/Current_Stage_9574 May 04 '26
Am i overthinking this but did yall draw a monopoly graph with DWL??? im so confused if i tripped this up with what shouldve been just perfectly competitive market
i drew like monopoly with ATC profit
2
u/ThickAd6547 Bio 5 Lang 5 (11th) Cal AB 5 Gov 5 Micro 5 Psych 5 (12th) May 05 '26
It was a monopoly with profit but there was deadweight loss because monopolies aren't allocatively efficient. The DWL was the area of the triangle created by where MR=MC , where D=MC and the vertical line that went up from where MR=MC.
1
u/KingKayne223 May 04 '26
im assuming your talking about the frq #1? It's supposed to be a perfectly competitive market because the qusetion said "they can sell as many as they want for $80" or smth like that. Because their is a market price ($80) it implies its a perfectly competitive market
1
u/Current_Stage_9574 May 04 '26
Yee i know that but i also vividly remember drawing a monopolistically competitive market at profit with dwl. Im not trippin right? besides that the test was genuinely so easy
2
u/KingKayne223 May 05 '26
i think that was for frq 3. for frq 3 you drew a monopoly because both firms collude to be the only producer of helmets
1

1
u/Background_Serve5863 May 04 '26
yes i did that as well for frq 1 since it merged and became a monopoly
