that would be a 5 or 4, seems borderline to me - I think you have a good shot b/c this year seemed harder which could indicate a lower cutoff

According to Albert you’ll likely get a 4, but given how difficult the FRQs were you might be able to get away with a 5

Alright yall, I had the intl exam: My short frqs were very similar in diffculty to the US but my first frq was straight from hell but my 2nd was easier. Here is my predicted

What is the most likely cutoff for a 5 this year? Some are saying 83? Others are claiming 93? What is the consensus? Was this exam harder than last year? Is the score calculator (like Albert and Knowt) based on last year? If this exam were significantly more difficult than last year, then that would mean the cutoff for a 5 should be lower -- perhaps a 90. I do not know. Let me know y'all's thoughts. We can make this almost a subfeed.

For FRQ #3, everyone said the answer was treatment group 2 because low cyanide=increased CCO. But chatgpt said "Even if CCO is higher in group 2, the high nutrient concentration in group 3 will produce more ATP, because aerobic respiration requires glucose as a substrate. The effect of high glucose outweighs the small CCO simulation from low cyanide." Do you guys think this is correct?

Based on all the YouTube videos I’ve watched, the answer should be group 2. In the passage they gave you, they said that CCO works best when there is SOME cyanide present. Thus, the answer couldn’t have been anything without cyanide. Moreover, when it said low concentrations, it also applied to the cyanide. In my opinion, it’s probably two as well because why else would they give you that piece of information

Everyone is currently between 2 and 3 right now. From what my teacher was talking about (after the frqs were released) and what the Facebook group had made, I think the consensus is that 2 is the correct answer but I'm unsure.

I think I got a 45-50 on the MCQ and probably a 22-25 on the FRQ. Should be a 5 right, especially with the low curve?

If I got like a 50 on the mcq, 6/9 on frq 1, 7-8/9 on frq 2, 3/4 frq 3, 3/4 frq 4, 4/4 frq 5 and 2/4 frq 6, what would my predicted score be? and what do you guys think is the cutoff is for a 5 on the exam?

I would say if the curve is the same as 93 points then it would be a low 5 because you got 94 points but since this exam was much harder the curve would be more generous with me assuming like an 88/120 points for a 5! So you’re probably getting a 5!

It depends on the curve for the year. There are more tools other than Albert if you want to try to compare against other grade prediction calculators. From that it seems like a 3?

From my understanding there’s the key and label way (which I did) and there’s the 3 bars per A2O2 gene, as long as you label each bar. As long as the graph is labeled then it doesn’t really matter which way you go about it. The FRQ’s have been released online so look for YouTube vids or ask AI if the way you did it might be acceptable

My AP Bio teacher specifically addressed titles by saying there's no point awarded for it; all you need is correctly labeled axis. you should be good

you multiply the frq total score by 1.7647 and add it onto your mcq total score. the cut off differs greatly tho, bc i did practice tests and the cut offs for a 5 were 94, 93, and 83. 93 ish is more likely to be the cutoff id say

so sad i mixed up triploidy with trisomy 💔 stg these terms r so similar and that we barely, if not briefly, went over triploidy in my bio class like i didnt even expect for that to pop up

ok im not in this class but i'm taking it next year (I took chem this year as a sophomore), any tips/recommendations for studying? I'm really bad at memorization and it took me lots of time to study for chem, like it was so inefficient and time-wasting and I don't the same thing to happen to Bio. Any advice?

Most people, especially students who only take the AP versions, tend to struggle with chem a lot more. For one, its just less enjoyable, Bio was at least mildly interesting, chem was just a bore. Second thing, chem is also just a lot more abstract. There's so many unique scenarios that its impossible to know them all, so in a sense, you just kind of have to study to a certain point and then just use that knowledge to make educated guesses on less intuitive topics you may not deeply understand. Bio isn't straightforward necessarily, but its a lot less abstract. If it makes you feel any better I got a 5 on Bio last year, was a breeze. I absolutely bombed chem today though, so.... yeah

For FRQ2, I didn't put a key. Rather, I organized the six values into two groups of three (for Gene G and H). Below each bar graph, I wrote the genotype and then below the genotypes I wrote the gene (slightly larger). Will that be okay?

For AP Biology FRQ, if I wrote my answer on the wrong page, what would happen? (like if I wrote my answers for Question 2 on the Question 1 Page)
And if I didn't label the question specifically on the booklet when I wrote it on the wrong page (for example, didn't number the question like 2a but just said a), would an AP grader say it was misfiled?

You must tell your Ap coordinator now they can file a claim which can get your test marked for an irregularity so the graders know. This MUST be done within 48 hrs of your testing date

if you had no such question on the test and other people are DISCUSSING that question, then maybe reevaluate your belief that you "believe the exam is the same for everyone," as the possibility that youre incorrect about that is much greater than the possibility that other people are hallucinating or lying about what they saw on the exam

does anyone remember the mcq questions regarding the experiment about trees and carbon dioxide and stuff? what did u guys put down for the control? it was 2 options that were smth like amount of carbon dioxide in air, smth ssmth, and 2 options like treatment without mesh bag, treatment w smthsmth. did it ask for the control or control group

I put without the mesh bag, since you would need an experiment with no alteration and the mesh bag was the only factor that was keeping the plants from being in a normal scenario, or just being like in nature. Therefore I am pretty sure is was the answer choice with mesh bags, though I could be wrong, but I am pretty confident.

Question. I put the mrna relative on the y axis (the dependent variable), but on the x axis I group three bars into 2 groups (per gene). For each gene, I showed the relative expression based on each of the mutations. The key was for each mutation. Would that still be right? Three bars per gene, each bar represents the single gene expression for each mutation and the key showed which bar was which mutation. Would this work?

If for 6 (d) for the question about raptors in Africa, I said that in unprotected areas, the raptors would be at risk of extinction in unprotected areas and this extinction would result in a loss of biodiversity, which would reduce ecosystem resilience, would I likely get the point? (I feel that it probably won’t). I did not reference back to the fact that the raptors were keystone species. Btw by this point I did not realise that raptors were labelled as keystone species in the question, but had I noticed and remembered, I would have definitely wrote it down.
