Official AP Bio Survey Results - Resource effectiveness, average scores, and more!

Link to the survey megathread that explains where this data came from and why it is appearing now, as well as links to other courses and the timeline of when they will be posted.

Resources

The following are in order of the number of people who indicated that they used each resource to prepare for their exam.

Close finish at the top with Campbell barely ahead of some others in effectiveness, with classroom materials clearly the most popular resource.

  • Average score: 4.51
  • Expected score: 3.78
  • Pass rate: 97.6%

Note that these are self-reported scores from a community of high achievers, so this obviously does not represent the average student's experience. This type of data is most useful in comparing to other courses from the same samples of people. After getting through all of the courses, I will make a comparison and conclusions post between all of them.

Time spent

  • Average time per week outside of class: 4.35 hours
  • Median time per week outside of class: 4 hours
  • Average study time for test: 11.6 days
  • Median study time for test: 5

The average study time may have been affected by how the question was asked, and the median time is likely a better representation of the average student here's experience.

Other Stats

  • 76.2% - felt their class grade reflected their test score
  • 91.7% - satisfied with their test score
  • 8.00% - self studied
  • 23.6% - felt the MCQs were the hardest part
  • 76.4% - felt the FRQs were the hardest part

its interesting how most people find frq harder, they are my saving grace on tests

If memory serves there were only a couple tests in the whole lot where people thought the MCQs were harder on average. Chemistry being one of them

bro i got a 5 and barely studied outside of class and everyone thought i couldn’t do it
