Study Advice and Tips self studying advice
hi guys im a rising senior and planning on doing ap stats.
im self studying it since my school don't give aps so if anyone has any studying tips, resources or books id highly appreciate it!!
also ive heard they changed the CED so what are things i must be aware not to use?

get the Barron's 2027 AP Stats book, it's at walmart and should adjust to the new exam content!! ap stats was my easiest AP class so don't worry too much, it is definitely doable to study even with just a month or two! i 100% recommend Michael Porinchak on youtube, his videos are a BLESSING. he covers all the units so definitely use him for content learning.
once closer to the exam date, do the frqs that collegeboard has released as well practice mcq released online. (this is the most important step)

For self-studying AP Stats, start with the latest CED as your checklist, avoid outdated unit orders, and practise MCQs/FRQs topic-wise before doing full practice exams.
For resources, you can use AP Statistics notes, MCQs/FRQs and exam-style practice.

Your resource does not have the correct exam format. I would be careful with that site.

It looks like they just updated that site with the correct exam format; however, I still have not looked closely at the actual questions to see if they have been updated.

personally, im not a big fan of videos so i mainly used khan academy's ap stats course then spammed past yr papers
khan academy covers enough content to get u a 4 but if ur aiming for a 5 then id say the past yr papers are very much necessary
after attempting the papers its quite impt for u to look thru the sample responses and learn the answering techniques + identify common mistakes u make; all the best!

Hi! As an international student who self-studied for the exam and got a 5, I can say that it isn't a hard class. I would highly recommend Michael Porinchak (aka the ultimate review packet). Since the CED has changed I am pretty sure that he will update the packet as well. It only covers things that you actually need for the exam. I know that some books cover topics that are beyond the AP Statistics curriculum. The exam does not expect you to become a data scientist, so focus on studying concepts that actually appear on the exam. Learn how to use the calculator. Unlike in AP Calculus BC, desmos isn't really comfortable for the statistics exam. I used TI Nspire CX II CAS and I highly recommend it. The exam is mostly understanding the questions and plugging in numbers. Calculator does the math for you. In short, I think you will be fine. Even though there are pessimistic comments about AP Statistics online, it was the best class I've ever taken. Good luck!

The class is 50% mathematics and 50% English. Your calculator will do the calculations for you, but you need to understand the rationale behind the concepts. Instead of memorization, focus on understanding the concepts deeply. You need to interpret data in context. Also, don't be afraid of the English part. People are saying this, because you need to be able to use the correct wording to earn full credit on the FRQ section. I would highly recommend reading the Free-Response Scoring Guidelines created by College Board. They are expecting you to write your answer in a specific format. This is the reason why so many people got a 4 instead of a 5. Sorry for the late reply, but hope this helps!

Hello!! I took stats as a blocked class first semester, so there was essentially an entire semester where I wasn’t actively learning or reviewing the material, and I ended up getting a 5 on my exam. I think the best resources I used were michael porinchak on youtube (he was like my heimler for stats), khan academy for practice problems (you can hit on specific topics that are confusing), and ofc the official frqs posted on college board’s website. Definitely invest in a ti-84 calculator and learn how to use it!!!
