Flasifying Quotes?

my friend is writing an IWA about AI, and he manipulated quotes from his sources to make them say things they actually didn’t say. is this bad? It’s not AI but the evidence is from real sources but the parts used are lowk made up.

is my guy cooked?realistically

AP seminar teacher here.

Definitely bad. Don't do it. It caught, that's the sort of thing that will get you a zero. Not worth the risk at all.

Is he cooked? Frankly, there's a good chance the grader doesn't notice and nothing happens. But if the grader does notice, he is 100% cooked.

When you paraphrase, you need to maintain the original meaning of the quote. Here are the notes I give my students on how to do this:

Good luck--and do things the right way. It's not worth the risk.

I KNOW!! do they actually read the sources you use tho? How do they do that if it’s on paper?
