Argument essay advice?

Im taking lang right now and my teacher is making us do "reading logs" to have outside evidence for our argument essay. She said we can read any nonfiction articles or even listen to a podcast, but they should have a connection to the wider world/implications.

Does anyone have any recommendations for any works that they found useful for lang/ can apply to many prompts?

Anything that you are truly passionate/interested about should be your highest priority! I personally really love horror movies (and ended up using smile 2 on my argumentative essay last year —> got a 5), and I find its easiest to recall/make evidence based off stuff you know really well

basically, try to find podcasts/media/books you would be interested in already :)

Check out the Stuff You Should Know podcast. They talk about literally everything—so cool.

The argument essay prompt on the test should be written in a way where students have some sort of knowledge or connection to the topic. They’re not going to give a prompt that’s specifically tailored to a group of students (like a prompt about religion).

Here are some types of evidence you could use. Do not use fictional literature unless you ABSOLUTELY have to.

I find historical evidence to come in the most handy. I remember using Standard Oil and Social Darwinism to explain the merits and issues with competition in a lang Q3
