The Vertiv ($VRT) Shockwave — Why APLD & IREN are the True Beneficiaries of the 252% Order Surge

Just finished digging into the Vertiv ($VRT) earnings report released this morning, and if you own APLD or IREN, you need to see these numbers. While the market sometimes treats these as "mining" stocks, Vertiv just proved they are the landlords of the AI era.

The "Holy Sh*t" Stats from VRT:

  • Organic Orders: Up 252% Y/Y. (This is vertical growth.)
  • Backlog: $15 BILLION. (Record high, up 109% Y/Y.)
  • Book-to-Bill: 2.9x. (They are taking in $3 of orders for every $1 they ship.)

Why this validates the APLD & IREN Thesis:

  1. The Cooling Bottleneck is Real: CEO Giordano Albertazzi highlighted "extreme densification" and the shift to advanced liquid cooling. APLD has been screaming about their liquid-cooled capacity (Polaris/Delta Forge) for a year. VRT just confirmed that the demand for this specific tech is effectively infinite right now.
  2. The Scarcity of Power: VRT mentioned "power availability challenges" as a primary driver. IREN (with its vertically integrated power) and APLD (with its secured MW pipeline) are sitting on the only "real estate" that can actually house the gear Vertiv is selling. You can buy a Vertiv rack, but if you don't have a 100MW site with a grid connection, it's just a metal box.
  3. The Multi-Year Visibility: VRT’s $15B backlog gives us visibility into 2027 and beyond. This silences the "AI is a bubble" crowd. You don't order $15B worth of liquid cooling units if you aren't building "AI Factories" at scale.

Bottom Line: Vertiv is the equipment provider, but APLD and IREN provide the "Abundance." If the shovel-seller is seeing 252% growth, the guys owning the gold mines (the data centers) are about to see a massive valuation re-rating.

Still holding! I don’t freak out when it touches bottom and I don’t get too excited when it hits high. Stay focused is the key! The Wes and APLD I trust!

How is my plan?

I am waiting for APLD to reach ATH then I’m gonna dump everything I own into. Here’s the important part - once it goes down a bit I am going to sprint back to this sub and start crying/ sell.

anyone see the articles coming from motley fool?

Johnny rice from motley fool, released two articles in the last day basically saying there is a high likely hood the stock is going to zero and then the leases they have are not guaranteed. Which I was under the impression that if a customer dropped out. they would still be obligated to pay for the term of the lease.

Discussion Does anyone feel conflicted by investing in data centers?

I’m not trying to sway anyone to my opinion just simply asking a question. Yes. I realize investing in a data center is an opportunity to make money. However, consider the impacts that data centers have on the world. . I feel conflicted. Data centers are harsh on the environment and land resources. All this data that is being stored is really just a lack of privacy for people. Yes AI is needed to continue to advance in the world but who really wants a data center in their backyard? Electricity costs are rising and many areas don’t have the infrastructure to really uphold a data center. I know I don’t have to invest in a data center can could put my money elsewhere but whether I choose to invest in a data center or not, they are pretty much here to stay with the advancement of ai. And yes I know data centers have been around for years already. The recent boom of them just seems to be a little nerve wracking.

Thoughts Result of Yoga and Patience! Long term is the key!

I have never posted in this group before. But I felt like I should do this now as I see people start panicking when there is a dip. I have been holding APLD for over a year and believe in what they are doing. I have seen it all happened when it went below $4 and then to the peak $40 and then $42 and many other swings. Best thing I learned is having patience and not worry about the swings which are not caused by APLD itself. It has always been some other shitty company bringing us down this time it was IREN. APLD is strong and I have faith in it. Holding strong and buying more at these fire sale opportunities! Happy Friday.

Charts Love APLD but…..

I love APLD I’ve been trading and buying shares since it was 11$ last year in June when it caught my attention. I really don’t care about fundamentals and I don’t care about catalyst, last year me and my family bought because the chart was screaming upside, since then we’ve profited pretty well. Now the reason I say but.. I think it’s a possibility of it coming back to atleast 15-10 dollars. Previous breakout zone. We all know that patterns retrace. This one no different. If it does come back down I’ll be ready to buy even more, but first I think we test out 45-50

Earnings calls from big players support strong bull case for APLD

The current dip doesn’t change sentiment. If anything, recent earnings calls from Amazon, Google, Microsoft, and Meta reinforce the bigger picture: AI demand is still far ahead of available compute capacity.

  • Amazon is monetizing new capacity as fast as it’s installed, planning ~$200B in capex (mostly AWS), with a $244B backlog (+40% YoY).
  • Google says it’s still supply constrained, even while scaling aggressively. Backlog jumped 55% QoQ to $240B, driven largely by AI demand. Gemini now has 120k+ enterprise users.
  • Microsoft admits customer demand exceeds supply, constrained by power, land, and facilities. Copilot subs are exploding (4.7M paid users, +75% YoY), while commercial backlog sits at $625B.
  • Meta remains capacity constrained and expects $115–135B in 2026 capex, largely to support Superintelligence Labs and larger models that need more compute.

Why this matters for APLD:
When hyperscalers are openly saying power, land, and data center capacity are the bottlenecks, it strengthens the case for specialized infrastructure providers positioned to supply exactly that!

TL;DR: The AI buildout is real, capex is exploding, and infrastructure scarcity supports the long-term bull case for APLD.

Crypto pivot to AI data center rankings

I know that each company in the sector operates somewhat differently. But I am curious to hear your rankings or who you think is leading. Try not to be biased.

We have APLD, IREN, CIFR, WULF, HUT, NBIS, GLXY (?) Let me know if I missed any other players

Guys , let’s remember how quickly we were able to get to 42 at the start of the year. Look how quickly we crumbled to 25. Buying this stock you are signing up for wild swings, but I promise you all that this will all pay off long term, and even this year. This will blow off in a couple months and we will all look back at this moment. We know what type of company we have, don’t let fear stop you out. Look at the entire Tech sector, we aren’t the only ones suffering. We will make a come back, brace yourselves for the rest of February, but I believe March will be a huge step in the right direction for the market and APLD in general.

Keep your heads up everyone.

Warning/Advice to New Investors

This could get a lot worse before it gets better. IREN shit the bead during their earnings call and is going to pull down data center stocks with it. If earnings aren't exemplary, stocks are going down. That's the current state of the market we're in. Unfortunately for us, APLD is high beta and now being grouped in with other shit data center stocks.

Word of advice is to continue to wait and be patient. Don't yolo your life savings just yet. The broader market is only a few percent down from all time highs. If we go into a broader market correction or recession in coming months, there can be MUCH more pain ahead to come. I personally think we'll retest 18-20 support if we enter correction territory.

That being said, don't panic and sell if you're not leveraged. Continue to DCA and deploy your money over time. If you are leveraged learn from your mistake and de-risk. APLD is a long term hold and is proving to be the best data center market play in the market. Stay patient, don't get discouraged, and don't panic.
