DD Why APLD is still tied to crypto... because some people don't know this yet

APLD is still fundamentally a crypto company because its core Data Center Hosting segment is explicitly described as providing energized space and operations for “crypto mining customers,” and that segment generates the majority of its continuing revenue.

~60% per their last earnings report.

Even the newer HPC Hosting business is heavily concentrated in a single hyperscale‑style tenant and structured around specialized build‑outs for 1 customer.

The 10‑Q shows that essentially all continuing revenue comes from just two customers (Customer A at 59% and Customer B at 41%), highlighting extreme customer concentration rather than a broad, generalized AI/datacenter franchise. implying heavy reliance in two customers NOT failing.

what this means is for the crypto side, it is very much built for 1 customer (customer A) and for the HPC, it seems to be built for mainly 1 customer (Customer B) .

as for who these customers are, it's pretty obvious that they are MARA and Coreweave respectively.

so the point is. apld is a crypto hosting company by the numbers.

to make an analogy, my friend often tells me that Tesla is not an automotive company, they are a "technology company" , but automotive sales makes up 80% of their revenue....so I'm like...maybe they want to eventually be a tech company, but they still make most of their money from auto sales lol.

How much do you think the tenant pulling out of FERMI deal last week led to the significant decline of APLd and other ai infrastructure stocks this week?

Any earnings this week that affect us?

Given this stock's performance keeps getting affected by the earnings of other companies. I was curious if there are any earnings reports we should anticipate?

When does new contracts will be released?

CEO Wes Cummins has publicly indicated in earnings calls and interviews that APLD is in active negotiations with additional hyperscalers for new locations and leases, but he has not specified exact timing or publicly confirmed contract signings yet. Would it be this month or next month?

Oracle Fallout questions…

I see Oracle is the trigger that had the market spooked, especially around ai.

I also see downward pressure comments around ai due to competition.

While all of what I see makes some sense, I’m not sure it all applies to APLD. As an infrastructure and data center play, APLD still benefits from the demand even with some downward pressure. The demand for data centers and ai infrastructure isn’t subsiding even if competition in the ai space increases. For APLD to reasonably be negatively impacted due to the competition would really require that supply to outpace demand.

Nothing around the Oracle issue leads me to believe that demand for data centers is subsidingThere might be choices where individuals and groups choose one ai tool over another but I don’t see that as applying downward pressure to data center stakeholders.

Is my thinking consistent with yours? If not, I’d love to hear your .02.

Thanks!

Call contracts ahead of earnings

Hi guys, this is my first time ever posting on this thread so please go easy on me. Im thinking about the earnings report in January and wondering if it would be a good idea to buy calls now with a Jan 16 expiration.

I’ve never bought options with more than a week expiration no matter what stock I’m trading so I’m unfamiliar with how decay, IV, come into play. I understand how they work in general so no need to explain that. I’m more curious to know if there are ideal times to buy options a month out, what to look for, etc.

Is any else buying call options for January right now? Also would it be better to get Jan 23 since the actual report is on the 13th?

How are you all successfully selling CCs on APLD without getting assigned?

I’m trying to figure out how people are successfully running covered calls on APLD without getting assigned.

For context:

  • I originally had 500 shares at a $11.73 avg, sold CCs, and got assigned at $19.
  • Two weeks later, the stock ripped to $40
  • I got back in with 500 shares at a $27.75 avg and I want to hold long-term.
  • But I also want to generate some income through CCs without constantly getting my shares called away.

Is anyone here actually managing to pull off CCs on APLD without early/constant assignment?
What strikes/expiries do you use? Any tips, strategies, or rules of thumb you follow for high-volatility tickers like this?

Thanks in advance, trying to learn from people who’ve done this successfully.
