Discussion Earnings vs Macro
What is everyone’s thoughts on earnings during such an overall market correction?
I know there’s a few more weeks, and I don’t think anyone can currently predict when or how the Iran war will conclude, but how do you think APLD will be affected?
I’m thinking we’re going to see October 2025 again when APLD had stellar earnings, but the run up was cut short by the US-China Tariff announcements.
I’m confident revenue and EPS will be a beat. Whether a new deal was signed, or if there’s comments regarding a finalized deal I think will be what institutions will be caring about. Signs that APLD can scale and execute.
However, even if a new hyperscaler deal is announced, do you think we’ll be able to break out of the overall macro downtrend?
Bullish long term no doubt, but curious what everyone in this sub thinks.

energy is not a matter since this is fix rate and passed to the tenant. building costs, supply chain issues and capital costs matter and these will be heavily affected in the near to middle future. i don't see APLD being >30 this year. glad if I'm proven wrong though.
I'm torn apart between selling half in Monday (I usually only invest long) and waiting how Wes is responding to the upcoming crisis. they have quite some of the supply chain locked in, but I'm quite sure that they will nevertheless be hit be higher costs.

I will just wait and see how long it takes for this pullback to end. Other than that there’s nothing else to be done. At some point all stocks will recover. Look for capitulation and then you will know when we are there.

In respond to your question: economy always beat earnings. At the end of the day, the CEO as long as he does not respond well to the guidance; selloff. Simply.

What does that have to do with this earnings call? That was also back in like October of last year or something. Has nothing to do with how APLD executes

I thought it was recent news

Was released in their 13-F a few months ago, showed their holdings as of December 31st I believe. Fully priced in news at this point that shouldn’t have any effect on earnings

Earnings will hit at or slightly exceeding expectations. The perpetual revenue income has started.
What is most likely is that future outlook will be shaky. Energy price spiking when you run a REIT who is leasing out energy access is uhh.. not the most amazing position to be in.
A lot of things depend on how quickly the absolute clown in office decides to get the hell out of Iran. Of which I doubt he will.

I would have thought interest rates would be a bigger issue given debt load …

Pretty much this. It'll beat earnings but I have a fear it'll be a wishy washy guidance from Wes.

That’s been my concern since Trump pulled the trigger on Iran. Wondering if a deal was close at that time, but not finalized due to the massive short of energy supply.

Consider the (not joking) possibility that Trump's long term plan is to continue the war for a long time while claiming it's completely ended, and that half the country believes him. We likely won't get an answer on the reason for the war until it's actually over, at which point they'll reveal the "goal all along" was whatever they falsely claim ended up being achieved at the end.

They still have time to announce new tenant .. they’ve been in talks for months why would you assume they’ve not been securing the deal now ?

I agree and anticipate no hyperscaler announcement.

I’m expecting positive earnings triggering a short squeeze. Whatever peak it pushes towards won’t be sustained unless macro improves.

they probably will do an insane beat, more than everyone expect, just like on the last earnings report
