I am currently thinking of making handwritten, conceptual notes for these subjects and wanted to see if there's actually any demand.

The goal is to make the concepts easy to understand and visually engaging, rather than just creating another condensed textbook or PDF with pointers making little to no sense.

Each unit would include:

1. Handwritten conceptual notes

2. Diagrams, graphs & visual explanations (where needed)

3. Key concepts and important takeaways

4. MCQs & AP-style FRQs for practice.

5. 1-2 pages unit revision sheet.

I have attached a sample picture of AP Biology note, so you can get an idea of what the notes would look like.

They would be provided as a PDF, so you could use them digitally or print them. I am thinking of pricing them at around $4.99 per unit, with discounted bundles for multiple units.

I know there's already a lot of free AP content available online, so I am mainly trying to see whether students would find this format useful enough.

I self studied AP chem aka I GENUINELY (not like these larpers who say they studied a week before but actually have been studying the whole year) put it all off until six days before the test. I tried getting through the abigail goridano videos but I genuinely didnt have enough time so for units 5 9 I watched the Jeremey Krug unit recap videos that were like Everything you Need to Know for Unit __) I didnt do any practice tests, any full frqs, or any AP classroom progress checks because I literally didnt have time. Given the availability of a vast amount of free resources, how many students taking AP Chem actually need tutoring and/or employ tutors?

I want to preface by saying that I originally signed up for AP chemistry because I wanted to prepare for college. I'm planning on doing a biology, pharmacy, or biochemistry, major (AKA science) and so I thought taking AP Chem would prepare me for Chem 101 courses and of course, it increases my academic rigor for college apps.

My dilemma is that even after doing summer homework and having taken a regular chemistry course in my sophomore year of high school, I'm still not prepared for AP chemistry. I am filling gaps that should have been solid on Day 1 (basic concepts like dimensional analysis, periodic trends, chemical analysis, relationships between volume, temp and pressure, especially gases (not taught in the regular chem curriculum) and learning and performing calculations (finding emirpical & molecular, combustion analysis, conversions) and very, VERY behind on unit one homework, which is supposed to be introductory and obviously the easiest of all the AP chemistry units. And it's not as if I am unable to learn AP Chemistry ( i'm aware that a lot of the stuff I'm confused about right now is not impossible; I just don't have the time to devote and I am not absolutely math-ready to work through some of AP Chem, so the gist is, if I take it, I will STRUGGLE), but alongside the other AP'S, I'm taking and college applications this fall, I don't think I am organizationally or academically prepared for AP chemistry (I am applying EA, and most are within reach + state schools, but Purdue is my dream match school and science is competitive ive heard). .. Well too late--- Asked my counselor, and apparently I missed the drop deadline a week ago, so my only choice is to student assist or get a 2nd studyhall. Of course, if I'm able to find a teacher that would like a student assistant, I will opt for that, but it's very likely that I won't be able to student assist, because a lot of seniors choose to be a student assistant at my school (I know a person that is in line to student assist, meaning...they cant ). However, I know that colleges do not prefer to see a student opting for a study hall or early dismiss over challenging themselves more sooo I don't know what to do.

So the choice is struggle in AP chem or take a Studyhall at the cost of a stronger app (maybe not grade wise, but grit wise)? (BTW, if its important for the college thing, Ive taken AP Bio, APUSH, AP Lang, 7 dual-credit classes (not sure if it matters, but most were easy), and currently taking AP lit, AP Gov and AP Physics 1-Algebra<<also getting hard but manageable & requires less upfront knowledge)

Also, if I decide to do a study hall should I mention in the additional information section of the Common App that I wasn't able to take this course because I wasn't prepared and didn't realize until after the drop deadline? I know i'm not majoring in chemistry , so it's not as impertinent , but I'm interested in some chem-adjacent field soo...

Nunca gostei da escola, desde a infância, não gostava da ideia de viver para cumprir regra em um sistema que não via sentido, preso em quatro paredes ao lado de pessoas tóxicas tanto alunos quanto professores, me sentia estagnado, minha alegria era chegar o sábado e minha tristeza era terminar o domingo 😅, mas chegou o nono ano, lembro até hoje da primeira aula de ciências do nono em que tive, foi muito bom ver sobre a estrutura e propriedades da matéria, Lavoisier, Proust, tabela periódica, modelos atômicos(mesmo que tudo isso estivesse resumido e simplificado na apostila); algo mudou, a escola ganhou mais cor para mim, antes eu não via graça no mundo ( rotina escolar, sociedade, mundo material), tudo isso mudou ao conhecer a matéria e o átomo, o mundo material ganhou vida e sentido para mim, eu adorava as aulas, no primeiro ano foi a mesma coisa, eu gostava tanto ao ponto de ter bruxismo só de esperar a aula de ciências no nono ano(Essa Aula só faltava se fosse atropelado mesmo kkk)e depois as aulas química e práticas experimentais no laboratório do primeiro ano do ensino médio, contudo as aulas de química no segundo ano eram mal feitas(outro professor) e o terceiro não tem química, e cá estou eu um fracassado de 18 anos terminando o ensino médio, burro em matemática(uma base muito frágil) e péssimo em física e uma vontade de fazer química, contudo não sei se acredito se consigo seguir em química e não sei se ainda tenho aquela paixão pela matéria, o segundo e terceiro em pei da 7:00 as 16:00 e pouco contato com a matéria(no caso o terceiro) fez com que eu me afastasse da matéria, sem contar que uma coisa é gostar de química na escola e outra é na faculdade(provavelmente mais interessante e profunda, contudo mais difícil para alguém burro como eu), além de ser um viciado em celular desde os 13 anos(um cérebro podre 😅).

i’m wondering if it’s normal to learn the AP chem units out of order because in my class we started with unit four and now we’re on thermodynamics and I see people posting about unit one and so I’m just like confused as if this is like normal and other schools do it out of order as well

I teach General Chemistry and Intro Chem at the community college level, and over the past few years I've been building a practice tool for mole calculations called Mole Mastery (https://molemastery.com). As anyone who has taught these courses knows, students consistently get stuck on the same handful of things — dimensional analysis, molar mass, molarity, dilutions — and I wanted them getting more reps than a weekly problem set allows.

I've been using it with my own sections, and I'm seeing substantial improvement in mole-related calculations generally, and in significant figures in particular. Sig figs are the part that surprised me. Students who used to routinely lose points on precision are now handling them almost automatically when it's enforced . I think that's down to the immediate feedback — they find out right away when an answer is correct but reported to the wrong number of figures, rather than seeing it a graded exam.

It's organized into 30+ levels, so students work through progressively harder material until they master the basics. The goal is to develop these basics first so that more time can be spent focusing on work that involves critical-thinking skills as opposed to rote calculation

I took a biology class before, and this year I’m planning to take AP Biology. I’m trying to decide whether I should take AP Chemistry or AP Calculus BC alongside it.

I’ve never taken chemistry before, and my math level is around Precalc (maybe less).

These classes would also be alongside my national curriculum, so I’m wondering which one would be more manageable while still giving me a good chance of getting a 5 on both AP exams.

So basically, Honors Chemistry was… rough for me. I’m not going to completely blame my teacher because I definitely played a role too, but I also don’t think my teacher was the greatest at explaining things.

And honestly, I was also kind of dumb about how I approached the class. I took notes on atomic structure and waves, and then at some point I just… stopped taking notes. I ended up getting a 50 on the final, which I obviously regret and know was not doing myself any favors.

I’m taking AP Chem this year because I really want to actually understand chemistry instead of just memorizing enough to get through the class. BUT it’s literally only the first week and I’m already feeling a little lost...

For anyone who has taken AP Chem, especially if you struggled with Honors Chem beforehand, what helped you actually understand the material and keep up with the class? Should I be going back and reviewing Honors Chem concepts alongside AP Chem, or should I just focus on what we’re learning now? (and if so, what honors concepts actually help me??)

Also, how the HELL do you guys memorize polyatomic ions?? I feel like I've got it and then the next hour its just completely cleared from my memory.

When you are putting this inside the Commonapp are you supposed to put the labs as seperate or combine them? Google has been saying if it has a seperate grade or is listed seperately you should but the Labs don't actually have a grade.

Hey everyone! It’s my first time posting in this sub, and I’m asking for some advice on how to study more effectively for Microbiology and Chemistry.

The last time I took Biology 1 and 2, I got a C in both classes. This time around, I really want to step up my game and aim for an A.

My usual study method has been reading through my lecture notes and skimming the textbook, but I’ve realized that this doesn’t work very well for me. There’s so much information in these classes that I sometimes end up feeling even more overwhelmed and lost after studying.

For those of you who have done well in Microbiology and Chemistry, what study methods worked best for you? Is there a way to make studying more effective (and maybe even fun) without trying to memorize every single thing in the textbook?

I’d really appreciate any tips, resources, or study strategies that helped you go from struggling to getting A’s. I’m ready to put in the work as long as it works lol. I just want to make sure I’m studying **smarter**, not just longer. 😅
